I'd always wondered what the old NS1 models would look like with more of a 'nostalgic' update into the current gen.

After seeing the source models/animations released I kinda dove into this without any real idea of how it'd be implemented, as it differs quite a lot in size and shape from the default fade... Due to that I'm not sure how far I'm going to go with it in its current proportions.

Still a heavy work in progress atm, just mostly getting the form down and seeing what things look good.

    On a different note, is there an ETA on that fade model?

    The face and the feets are my favorite parts :> The face looks particularly demon-like with the way the teeth are setup, not necessarily a bad thing :P It may be just the angle of the shots but the arms look slightly stubby/short. Maybe I'm just used to the NS2 fade's very long limbs though.


    Fantastic work though, would love to see it finished.

    How are you gonna avoid hitbox issues? Also you should do the marines weapons!

    Looks great.

    Maybe you could change how the torso connects to the legs. It looks a bit like an action figure there, or like it's wearing a leotard.

    The NS2 fade while fitting in a bit more with the rest of the Kharaa looked kinda strange to me. It's too symetrical I think, The NS1 fade had some asymetry that gave it a very organic and rough feel.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

    I'll be waiting eagerly for this one to finish, for now I guess I have to make due with my black NS2 Fade. Damn this one looks badass!!! Still the hitbox thing though :(

    Now this conveys a stronger sense of presence than the default one.

    I think the meaner face does charm for it, in addition to the thicker build.

    Bit of an update, made the arms slightly longer amongst other things.

    I'll try contacting the NS2c team to see if they'd want this when it's done, to animate it and such.

    How high is the polycount though, it looks super detailed

    it looks like its the highpoly model a sculpture in zbrush or similer software before starting out with the low poly.

    Yeah, It's the highpoly that will be used to bake normal and ambient maps onto the lowpoly.
    To answer your question though it's most likely pushing a million at the moment.

    You should do the onos next! You should also do the marine weapons, maybe even have the heavy armor rine dualing HMGs? ;D

    Lowpoly and bake. Few areas to clean up still.
    Stands at around 7300ish triangles.

    I would make the 2 toes on the foot slidely wider apart from each other as to convey stability.

    Pretty much done with the textures apart from cleaning some things up and a gloss map.
    Only got time to take some quick shots in Xnormal and that gets a bit blurry at times, should get the picture tho.
