A couple more new bast pics

This area isn't really finished, but I though I'd post screens anyway. ;) This is the clean, well-lit section of the UCC Bast that will be accessible to players. This area is also, in a sense, a hub between all 3 hive areas.

Note to MonsieurEvil: I have 1 800x600 of the first of the attached pics, but it's missing some important texture and details, so I wouldn't make this one fully public yet. I'll get you new ones soon.

No prob. Quite a nice improvement in lighting over the version I'm used to. Very crisp now. Well done!

View into the brightly lit corridor visible in the 1st pic. The doorway on the right leads to the catwalk over the EM drill shaft. There are some details still missing here and the ceiling still needs detail brushes and textures.

This is the old layout diagram. The pale blue hilighted area is the area shown above (except for the 'room' in the middle, which is the shaft mentioned above).

Wow, that secopnd corridor is really bright, but for some reason it fits. It just looks really good there. And as always, smashing architecture. Send us some more screenies soon.

Very, very nice. The bright corridor reminds me of those found in HALO. Which is a good thing.

Even the layout looks good, architectoniously and graphically.

Lotis: I whipped that together in CorelDraw. I'm one of those rare people (apparently) that don't use Photoshop to make 2-D graphics. When I started the job I'm in now, my company was using the Corel graphics suite, so that's what I learned. 5 years later, I still use the latest version of Photopaint. I have a co-worker who uses Photoshop, and I have seen it in action and all it is capable of, and Photopaint is nearly identical. The only differences are in terminology and interface. The capabilites of both are really the same. I can even import/export Photoshop (.psd) files and use Photoshop plugins and filters.

Just a little meaningless trivia.

It's not the NSTR. It was run in one of the alpha versions were are using to test stuff for NS (and NSTR2&#33.

You can download the qrk files in the downloads page. You can find a link in the Forum FAQ or link there through the main site. It's at the bottom of the page.

i think its cool but which room is alien start?
• MoleculorMoleculor Namer-of-Bob Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 9Members
Which ever of the three hives is in the game first. It's a random thing (which is why the marines have to basically guess where the aliens are at at first. If they guess wrong, it's not the end of the world, but the hive does spread.)
• Relic25Relic25 Pixel Punk Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 39Members, Retired Developer, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
the_stalker: the areas marked in green on the layout are the hive areas, and they are the locations where alien players will spawn initially (at the game's start, one of the three is chosen at random and the others will come 'online' as time passes). I think I had posted some pics of 2 of these areas in the past. 1 was of the engine room - which you can see I'm sure at readyroom.org, and the other is a room adjacent to the furnace that is so filled with alien crud and water that it's impossible to make out its (the room's) original purpose.

djees i like that second pic!
Lightning is perfect, it's bright but it doesn't bother me a bit, maybe bob though but he isn't big enough to go on all the rides in amusement parks so just ignore him..........
Nah it rocks, lots of detail in it, and nice architecture, seeing all those pics i want to try some mapping myself.
