The NS2 engine is crashing for me

This really pisses me off to no end. No other game or program manages to crash windows 7. If i quit the game Windows freezes, if i alt tab during loading my game freezes. I tried out many different drivers, nothing stops this. There is no community help on this even though many people got the same problem. I have been having trouble with this since i got into the beta 7 month ago, Me and many others have been reporting it, and it still isn't fixed for 1.0

    I'm running windows 7, and have not had any crashes at all. Game crashes yes, but that's been eliminated in the past 5 months.

    Can you post your system specs, for troubleshooting?

    Go start menu -> search bar -> type 'dxdiag' -> "save all information" then post it in the trouble shooting section.

    Game does crash if you minimize while loading, I can confirm that. My advice? Don't minimize while loading.

    Also the title of this thread is ridiculous. You kiss your mother with that mouth?

    The game USED to crash for me while loading, but they fixed that a couple patches ago and I don't crash at all on Windows 7. Very inflammatory topic title, as it is not the case for the large majority of players. Refrain from being a ###### if you want help.

    I have not crashed in NS2 in the past 50 builds, maybe you should try to not alt tab while loading.

    If alt-tabbing is all that is causing the crashing then try full-screen windowed mode.

    I wouldn't expect, that alt-tabbing while loading is a good idea in any game out there. Maybe it works for some games, but you really can't count on that.

    Your computer is obviously ######. I have windows 7, and so do many other people. Haven't had any problems crashing since before Beta build 221, I believe.

    Agreed, alt-tab on load will crash it reliably for me, otherwise it's been perfectly stable for the last dozen builds or so (at least) on Windows 7.

    You're not helping. I crash while alt-tabbing and I've had the black screen of death on game start like some other people. I'm on Windows 8 though.

    It a pure lottery if NS2 crashes on ALT-Tabing or not, sometimes it does, sometimes not.
    So if you really have the problem that the game crashes when Tabbing, just don't do it, simplest fix in the world.

    I'm on Windows 7 and often ALT+Tab without hitch. I don't get crashing issues or black screens. I recommend checking your drivers are all up to date, do a file verify in Steam, run malware scans, turn off firewall software and make sure nothing else is running in the background. It sounds like a system fault as opposed to the game.

    I would, but I get a terrible lag then. Making multitasking stable is high on my wishlist.

    Let me add to that. Clean up contacts, blow off dust, do a system integrity scan, Defrag and checkdisk. NTFS intefrity, MBR check and optimization. Optimize LAN, build antenna for wifi broadcast. Clean monitor and remove lint from ball on mouse. clean your shoes and do your dishes.

    If windows is freezing it sounds like you have a far more serious problem unrelated to NS2, I have had Windows 7 for a while now and it has NEVER crashed.

    People are more than willing to help here, please do what they ask.

    It is not impossible but far less likely that a game or any piece of software is causing a complete system lockup. What you are describing sounds like a hardware lockup.


    It's a long shot, but I once had the same issue (not with NS) but in alt+tabbing out of other games. It was due to my X-Fi sound-blaster. That stupid card was crazy sensitive to sudden changes in sound processing (Like Alt+Tab).

    I also have frequently seen the game crash when alt-tabbing during a load. Wouldn't be the first game to do that. Never once has it crashed Windows 7 though.

    The game has been crashing a lot since 226-227, it's also freezing for a second or so sometimes. Something went wrong in the release build and need to be fixed.

    I'm also having windows 7 crash issues. after 5-10 minutes into the round, the game just crashes. I've never had such a problem with b215-b226
