Post your own results and lets see who's fastest AND dominate the charts on that test! :)

I'm at around 220, with high variance (190-270). I've been playing a lot of games (mostly FPS) since I was like 6 years old, but I'm also a very slow and confused person, so I suppose that fits me.

Keep in mind there are monitors with severe input lag, which can skew the results quite a bit, just like your clicking technique and the sensitivity of your mouse button, which can decrease with the age of your mouse.

Heh, good point. I'm currently working from an office computer with an old HP mouse and stone-age Philips LCD monitor. I'll try again at home with my gaming mouse and monitor! :D

Pretty solidly at 200 after 5 clicks, though I seemed to improve linearly. Guess it helps to program your brain for it by simply doing it more?

Tried this 10 minutes after waking up. Scored 175 average, anywhere from 164-183. I remember doing a test like this a couple years back and I was 15-20 ms slower. Maybe I'm a morning person?

A click of 3ms means that you started clicking before the square went green. Things like that do mess up your results and would normally be eliminated in a statistical analysis. :)

Would be interesting to see how this correlates to age. My average seems to be around 230ms currently, and I'm 25 years old.

Yeah, yeah I know that, in fact I never even got to see that green square.
But it says on the site that anything below 100 ms doesn't count anyway. ;)

Reaction time isn't something you can improve upon - WAIT FOR IT - you can practice, and train your brain, but in the end you're born with a certain reaction time and you're stuck with it. (I can't find the wiki for it, but I remember reading it somewhere. ._.)

Therefore, I don't see why anyone would shy away from showing their sh*tty scores.

My average is 244 - worse than most. I've known my reaction time is cr*p since I was 15 years old, yet I've always fared well in FPS games simply because of how much I play. The more you play the more your jedi skills (you learn to anticipate lol) improve, lessening the impact of reaction time.

Even if everything you say is true, I still bet that people are much more likely to post their time if it is low rather than high.
• GeminosityGeminosity :3 Join Date: 2003-09-08 Member: 20667Members
mine is somewhere about 260-280 which I think is the worst so far :3

Then again, I've never had to rely on my reactions much in most games. I've always made up for it with strategy, reading my opponent(s) and mindgames :D
One thing that did occur to me though is that your mouse might improve/handicap your score a bit. The one I'm using right now is a replacement for my usual and it's got a decent bit of travel time. Not that it really matters though :P

The fact I remember taking tests like these 10 years ago, and topping scoreboards, but now after 50 tries I'm at an average of 240ms informs me I'm getting old. This depresses me way more than it probably should.

EDIT2: Since I like the idea of it (and to keep this thread clean) I've made a new thread in offtopic, to play around with this test: over here!

---

As for on-topic. Weezl, I know your pain. I dare even say that everyone that currently plays NS2 does. Its been said often before, and I can understand if you get tired reading it, but you'll have to wait for UWE to get to the polishing part. Better yet, a great deal of their current time is spent on this. There's quite a list of bugs that need to be fixed and the performance issues are known. UWE has the fullest intention to solve every problem you list in this thread. They just need time.

Don't worry, it won't end up being a game with messy controls, latency issues and a load of bugs. Upon release, they intend to have it running like a charm. Just give it time.

#75 hehe

Nope!

I managed to get it down to about 250 earlier when I went for 20 samples, but then right near the end I got distracted or something and got a 400ms and 500ms click, which ruined my average and brought me back up to 280.

Scored an average of 160.6 a couple of days ago but haven't been able to replicate it since. (It's on the board there.) Time was around 5:30PM but I'd only been out of bed for about an hour - long story. 120hz monitor and an old faithful G5 with the poll rate adjusted.

It's not too hard to get insane reaction times if you just guess randomly when it will appear, since it doesn't punish for clicking early. I got 42ms by doing that but only once. I can imagine someone patient can just sit around a while until he manages it 5 times in a row.

That's not measuring reaction time, but sure, you can dupe the test and then brag to all your internet friends how l33t you are. You can do that. Nobody's going to stop you. But also nobody's going to care, so I'm pretty sure it achieves nothing.

Having said that, you have to do it 5 times in a row and if you stuff it up once it takes significantly longer for the square to turn green, so for a really simple web tool it's actually pretty good.
