It's simple ... jut make change of FOV by speed of leks fly...

when you fly fast your FOV will be like hmmm 120 (or it's less like normal ? 60?), when you slow down FOV will go back (dunno to 90?)

it will give lerk the feeling of speed... together with that skwwooossss........ sound :D

yu can find plenty of videos ia google, like:

Or just make it higher all the time for all lifeforms. It would have the added benefit of not making jumping and airstrafing ridiculous against skulks.

Games like Quake that are traditionally played at 100-130 FOV still feel fast because of it, without changing it often and making people puke on their desks.

A dynamic FOV adjustment would probably make me feel a bit ill, I would prefer just a bigger FOV for fast alien classes.

Skulks have a FoV of 105 degrees, lerks 100. In addition, this is only true for 4:3 screens. 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios scale that up, e.g. skulks will have a FoV of 120 degrees on a 16:9 screen. I personally need high FoV in order to not get disoriented, so I play Quake Live on 120 degrees even though I have a 5:4 screen.
Dynamic FoV would make me feel sick, too.

why sick ? ... did you play i.e. minecraft? when it's properly tuned it gives you feel of speed, but dont affect vision soo much :)

Why does it make me feel sick? Why do some people get nausea from 50 degrees FoV while others get it from 120 degrees? How should I know?

Another issue is that I think mouse speed always changes with FoV so you will not be able to make exact turns anymore because your turn speed will depend on your overall speed. It won't be huge if the FoV change is small enough, but competitive players will definitely notice.

That "warp speed" view seems completely unnecessary and extremely disorienting.

Minecraft only does it for two speeds, lerks would presumably have to constantly fade in and out as they accelerate/decelerate, otherwise it'd jitter back and forth a lot if you were operating just near the edge of the two speed brackets.

I can handle FOV adjustment, but having it constantly fisheye in and out, that'd be a bit... offputting.

Of course the FOV will be changed only after a while in speed flying (i.e. 3-5sec)
... this will definitely remove jitter-ing back and forth .. as you describes.

    But why?

So you can feel like you're going fast?

I did something like that on the fade blink, maybe I still have a video somewhere, it was pretty ridiculous.

I dont saw that in fade blink ... yeah and chnaging the FOV as I describe willl give lerks more overview whats happens around (as they will see more :) )

So will changing the FoV of stationary Lerks. And Skulks.

The question being asked here is: <i>Why</i> should this be implemented?

Because he wants it and posted it on the forums, which means there's a 50% chance it's in build 207

He even quoted his last post in the thread and then edited the original one to bump it. Now that's dedication!

Seriously though, there are still no real pro arguments besides "it feels faster" and "it gives more overview", which could be applied to any FoV change. I'd personally be delighted by higher (<b>constant!</b>) FoV for all lifeforms, but others might not, so I hope for a slider in the new menu.

Why Dghelneshi needs "real pro" argument? why it shouldn't be only design change? (same as decission that skulk will have teeths instead of claws)

make FOV custom in the settings or trough the console, on a competitive level higher FOV is usually better so giving an edge to players who use different screen ratio is ridiculous.
