I've been working on the conversion over the past week. The pics came out a lil brighter than ingame.

Finally got the pics working, been a long time since I've posted pics.
I've yet to finish the back wall, but I wanted to see what you all think of the style before I keep continuing with it.

Most of the map is still grayboxed.
This is being released in order to test the layout with the new gameplay. I'm tinkering with the idea of adding another tech point but I'm not sure where.

I've adjusted the layout slightly, removed ladders in west and acidic and replaced with stairs/ramps. Also added a small path out or reactor towards west in order to bypass the ladder. This is all to allow for the included MAC and Drifter gameplay.

    you have to post the <b>direct</b> links from imageshack or it won't work, if you're really stuck, just generate forum code for thumbnail links instead.

    well I never actually left, just a long break from mapping. Seeing the veil and eclipse remakes inspired me. I managed to convert all brushwork into faces so I have all proportions correct, though it does need lots of cleaning up since brushes have 6 faces and spark only needs the one face.

    Seems you greyboxed the whole map already?
    Can you release a greybox alpha version, for gameplay testing? ;)

    This going to be a straight conversion? Keeping all the original brushwork / lighting, just using the textures from NS 2.

    Or are you going to change the brushwork slightly, lighting and general theme?

    I meant that since I converted the brushwork I have a starting point that has room proportions correct. I may let out a greyboxed alpha soon just as the eclipse remake, I just need to figure out where to place the techpoints. I'm thinking of changing double into a techpoint/res node instead.

    I agree, a techpoint in double will not be of much use to any of the teams.

    Simply click on the terrain of each major elevation change, rt, tech. Iirc

    What do you mean by this?
    So when marines weld the door, it opens?
    Don't think that is possible with the current implementation of doors.

    yeah.. I'm trying to figure out what to do with that path between sat relay and sat comm that had to be welded open. Right now I just placed a door there until i figure it all out.

    So you will change the texture-sets completely? When I first viewed the screenshots I had absolutely no idea what part of the map I was looking at, and just experienced an ns2_rockdown's cousin feeling. Texture and lighting are so very important with regards to capturing nostalgia, which is something veil and eclipse are succeeding in very much. I guess it's a bit harder for tanith as it uses somewhat different textures than said 2 maps.

    While I don't think textures will be viably reproduced, it is important to get the colors and mood of the scene down if you want to capture that nostalgia you mentioned.

    well since the gorilla patch came out I've discovered that a lot of halls are just too small for the onos, forcing me to change things up a little.

    I could reconize the first screens pretty well, also the commander view, even though it is rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise from ns1.
    But the last two ones you posted, where is that?

    Actually, did you convert the geometry manualy or did you used some kind of tool?

    It was a combination of tools and some patience... BSP viewer, hammer 3.5, hammer 4.0, spark editor and then lots of time copying the correct geometry into a clean file.
