Any chance of an update this week?

It looks like there's plenty of changes now, so it would be nice to get an update soon, especially considering we apparently won't be getting mineshaft in 188. :(

I miss regular updates, these month and a half ones don't keep up enough interest online, it would be nice to start seeing a few servers full 24/7 now that the game is well into development.

Summit has undergone major changes. There will be some variety before 189.

Variety, optimizations and a new HUD, 188 will at least be a nice step up from 187! The tip of the iceberg, so to speak, to layout the foundations for 189 :P

That's cool but summit has been played enough already, as good as it is even if it had a whole new area i don't think it would keep interest for long at this point, we desperately need something new.

Chill. When 188 arrives, play some custom maps, relax, enjoy the great new performance and graphical features on the way. Once you've played NS2 with full AA and atmospherics and great performance with those running, you're not going to be feeling so antsy for a while.

I would just like to see a bit of variety of environment to play in, there's some great looking community maps coming along nicely but no one seems to play them, a combat mode might keep more playing regularly as well i reckon.

With the inclusion of the new occlusion culling system in the next build, you should see Tram performing much better. It's had some extensive updates as well.

So the biggest problem is to get the server to run tram and player to play tram. It's like NS all over again with server/players vs custom maps, in this case an official one...

-- lack of map rotation and downloading don't help so much either :P

Don't think that is going to be a problem :P
It seems like tram will be very playable next patch, with memory leaks and occlusion culling fixed.
I could imagine the best servers to be running it, as it would be playable again. :)
And gameplay on tram should also be a bit better, double is now a tech point :P

In all fairness, a lot of the custom maps were not very good. Some were just overly complex and the simplicity of such as Veil, Nothing, Eclipse, Origin shine through. Achio for example is a great map for NS that was so complex nobody played or still wants to play. I had problems with Shiva not being as simple as it could be too.

I like the direction of the current maps, they're simple, they're not here to confuse a player. Even the custom maps coming through are using this precipice rather than making something visually amazing or fundamentally new.

I have to agree with the OP. These long waits between updates has really killed momentum. Even something every other week would be fine, just need to keep the interest. As of right now there seems to be next to none.

188 is a pretty big patch. Summit feels like a different map with the new area, running with AA and atmospheric effects with increased performance.

Tram is looking superb. People will deffo want to play it again. The whole game is looking great. I looked at screenshots of Highest Detail for Skyrim, and NS2 imho looks much better.

Sounds great can't wait, i just really hope the game gets to the level this year where it keeps people coming back for more, i think more maps and combat would go a long way to help with that.

Now you're trolling. The PC version doesn't have the highest detail, consoles do. Although, you are trolling. Skyrim has fantastic detail that NS2 doesn't possess.

NS2 is too limited by the engine in terms of detail.

We're working on fixing bugs for the release. We've touched tens of thousands of lines of code since the last patch, so you can imagine there's a lot to sort out.

I'm going to run in here and talk about the graphics of ns2... theyre great. And once atmospherics is added in proper, this game will blow minds. Maybe it's because people are playing on lower settings, maybe it's just because of a lack of atmospherics... but ns2 is already looking pretty good.
