Does this spam happen all the time or only on specific maps? can you provide a little more information?

Just had this happen, but my client had crashed about 1 minute before the spam-log occurred. It ended with a crash, going to try running with no mods.

Louis Cardinal was the only other marine, maybe he can tell us if he noticed anything.

Wolf, do you have any mods installed on your server?

I was on a server last night, a game had just begun and I was the only marine. I ran into the chair and when it closed I heard some kind of metal sound spam followed by connection problems detected and the comm chair closed all around me. I was unsure if I had lagged out or if it was a server crash but maybe somehow related the what Wolf is pointing out? Never had this happen before or after.

I'm not sure what config was loaded. I'll check it after work as i have 2 copies of the server, one steam client downloaded and the other via the hlds update tool. The one i had running was the steam client updated one and i'm pretty sure it's running without mods but I will have to look later to confirm.

EDIT: Checked Server and it is NOT running any mods, I'll leave it run for a while and see what happens. If it would help track bugs I can get you under the hood of the server box to poke around. XP on a Q6600 stuffed into a headless 1U running on a home connection of 50D/3U, DMZ pointed strait to the box.

EDIT #2: Been running the server for about 3 hours with an average of 8 players in and the only errors i am seeing are Effects Manager:InternalTriggerAnimation view model , something along the lines of "bite_idle" not being a player or weapon. This error seems random but i see it in the console about every 10-20 seconds and sometimes it spams.

Okay, 4 hours in and i recorded the following screens that eventually sucked the life out of the server.
In the order they where recorded.

I noticed that our server is also crashing at a regualr rate. We are running the latest version of OM on it as well. I will monitor it closer and see if there is a pattern.

I developed a reproduction pattern for some of these bugs last night and talked with Brian about them.
If you have the chance to watch the server console and play at the same time, to be able to tell what was going on when the error messges start, it would help alot

Just had it happen, got in the comm chair, but didnt actually land "inside" the chair. The walls closed, didn't kill me and server tickrate proceeded to drop down to about 5 before it was restarted. Server kept on running with me sitting there.

Also following error messages pop up on server console:
    <div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain' style='height:200px;white-space:pre;overflow:auto'>Script Error: lua/Whip_Server.lua:70: attempt to call method 'GetIsAlive' (a nil value)
    GetIsTargetValid lua/Whip_Server.lua:70
    UpdateAttack lua/Whip_Server.lua:222
    UpdateOrders lua/Whip_Server.lua:209
    lua/Whip_Server.lua:305

EffectManager:InternalTriggerAnimation(): Tried to play view model animation "idle2" but entity ViewModel isn't a player or a weapon. - Server

You must be on the ground to evolve. - Server
You must be on the ground to evolve.</div>

The 'Whip_Server.lua:70' error comes in large quantities.

Also would really like to know, is there a way to make a log file, so U can easily browse those entries?

AND -> PLS Make a Server subforum, thx.

I am seeing this text scrooling at a high rate of speed and then I know the server will crash soon. Then it stops for a second, then give mass lines of "leaking?" errors and crashes. "Leaking" (and other words, but I cant recall them of hand) is in the lines of text as it spams a full screen of lines and then it dies.

I would love to be in game while watching the server console but I crash out of game 2 minutes in every time. Sometimes I dont even spawn yet and it crashes.

I will try to capture the errors and find out what is going on in game when this occurs.

Server and Client automatically create logfiles of everything which is written to console.
    You can find it at
    %AppData%/Natural Selection 2/
(Paste that into your windows explorer addressbar)
It's usually in the log.txt, only under certain circumstances log-2.txt or log-3.txt are used.

Thanks, I believe I have that one fixed now.

seems to have done the trick, I got a string of errors before it fully launched saying "Location:GetPointInside() No physics body, returning false. -Server" . maybe 100 times or so then it has been running without a hitch for 5 hours now!
Using around 16-20% CPU on my Q6600 Quad core when at idle and ram usage is holding steady staying way below 1GB, Good Job!
