<div class="IPBDescription">support the game</div>The more people idle it the better. Its about at 100 right now. If it gets in the 120s the it will be in the top 10 on gamesurge. If you dont know what irc is just go to www.gamesurge.com/chat

Enter a name and login when it loads type /join #naturalselection

Just keep the website open and never turn your pc off. This will really help get the name out if it gets in the 150s.

CS and cod are around 150 - 200 ns sits around 100-110.

If it gets in the top 10 that will really really help. Tell your friends to idle too.

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat.

It's prime difference between other modes of chat is that servers themselves host the chatrooms, and that those chatrooms can exist regardless of the amount of people in them. A lot of people like to use it due to the fact that there are a lot of administrative options available to users who create these chatrooms.

In this case, #naturalselection is a chat room located at irc.gamesurge.net, which is the host.

Normally, you'd require an irc client program to utilize it. Mibbit is your exception, and if you don't feel like downloading anything feel free to use that.

Can your join more channels using those fancy IRC commands in this Mibbit? I don't feel like installing IRC shizzle so this might just be tolerable :P

    [edit]
Also I think I broke it as it doesn't join anymore, well it joins #naturalselection, but not the one I want to join... Ima all alone T_T

    /server -m irc.gamesurge.net
    /join #channelname

It'll appear as a tab for each

The point is if it has a lot of people and gets in the top 10. People will see that and be like o whats this #naturalselection all about. They will join and then find out about this game and play it. Now the people that are going to see it and join arnt just any o smoes. They are "pro" gamers. If you can bring in a wealth of "pro" gamers it will really grow the game. People will start using the irc to find scrims or clan matches with other clans. Thus there will be leagues and tournaments and lans and it is just a really good way to grow the game. So the more people that idle the better. If we get it up to 150 stable then it will pick up some steam and could help sell the game alittle more.

I think it's been around 6 months since I've been in #ns and before that I was in there for 4-5 years, and I think I saw about 2 conversations total, about the game in that time.

The problem is right now NS1 doesn't have a massive playing community and NS2 isn't capable of holding a playing community. Once the game is optimised, this will change and then there'll be something for people to randomly drop in and will mean there is more to talk about.

    its not #ns

    IT is #naturalselection

this has about 100 people in solid but i needs to get to 150. I think this is mean but I question people that dont have a past in competitive gaming. irc is the best chat system for every game community. This i why some of the best gamers in the world hang out on it. If you get thos guy to play this game it will spread like wild fire.

    #ns is a common abbreviation of #naturalselection.

I know a few casual players in various communities that have better aim and gameplay understanding than competitive players do. I wouldn't tar either side with either brush, people are just different, some get it, some don't ;)

I'll join up on the web based client to help!

I never had much use of IRC when I was younger -- been somewhere between 10-15 years...time flies :( -- but you'd be surprised on some of the things you'll find on IRC. A great way for people to talk/share about pretty much anything. Try out mIRC, that's what I used. I'm not sure if other clients are easier to use or not...

    <a href="http://www.mirc.com/" target="_blank">http://www.mirc.com/</a>

Anyone still use ICQ? I stopped using that about the same time I stopped using IRC. User numbers were much fewer digits than they are now I think :P. These days I don't think I'd have much use for internet chat programs either... *shrugs*. I guess the only reason I needed them was to be able to find people to play multiplayer games with. Now we have game browsers to do all that good stuff for us.

Don't just idle, we're a fun-loving lot. We don't talk about NS much, except when there's a new patch out, but we talk about pretty much everything else. Right now we're trying to work out why the american NHL has a rule for running in a circle before scoring some points.

Also, set up a filter to remove any line matching "\<brik.*\.gif.*" unless you really like wrestling.

    Oh, and don't say "ciao".

they never talk about ns in #naturalselection anyway, so why bother

    join #findnsscrim instead

Italian's use IRC to find warez, they begin by saying !list to get a list of available warez if a bot is present. Although they normally say 'ciao' first, so you often see this.

    <ItalianRandomPerson> ciao
    <ItalianRandomPerson> !list
    <RandomNSIRCOp> !BAN ItalianRandomPerson

I don't even have +v. Actually, almost no one does. And it's not like it very useful since we never close stuff down anyways.

It's not held to all that strictly.
