Anyone going?
So I'm going to my first "convention" next week and I was wondering if any other NSOT forumites are going. Also any tips from those that have gone to a PAX event in the past?

Always tempted to go, and i'm on the east coast, but haven't been to one yet. Do let us know how it was when you're back.

I sometimes wonder if I'd bother with these if they were on the same continent as me. But probably not.

    I'll be there.

Honestly, I'm doing this mainly b/c I can get in for free and it's a short bus trip from NYC -> Bahstahn.

WTH should I be doing when I'm there?

(Oh, and I love cons in general, so you know, always a good time to be had)

Bit too far for me to travel, they need more of these types of events in the UK...

I believe there was actually a fairly recent poll about a potential PAX UK, though it checking for interest. There are no real plans just yet :(

That's what I'm doing too. Bolt, Mega, or China town?

I like living, so Chinatown is out :P

I do bolt. A guaranteed seat and wifi makes me happy. My friends are actually flying...

Do you have any information about said large explosives?

I'm seriously out of touch regarding games in general atm.

http://www.giantbomb.com formed by Jeff Gerstmann and Ryan Davis after Jeff got sacked from Gamespot cause of that whole Kane & Lynch review debacle. Their panel is on Friday at the Manticore Theatre from 9:30pm - 10:30pm :3

You're the one who's sorely tempted to buy goddamn Farming Simulator because of them. It's a "game" that is specifically designed to be boring. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.

So, the con was awesome. Though I spent most of my time in the boardgames free play room. Friends said the Day 9/Husky panel was awesome (but in the smallest theater).

    On a note of transportation:
Apparently one of the China Town buses killed people again (though it was not one of the Boston <-> NY ones).

a metric arse tonne. Approximately every other enforcer was wearing one.

And I bought one my self :P

I have actually been wanting one, but I have been iffy about measuring my self (and getting it wrong). They were doing fittings there, so I have one being shipped (I'm a fat bastd).

Oh, and no, I didn't bother with the Giantbomb stuff. I hate long lines and they were long as hell.

Yah, my friends seriously loved it, though one of them bailed out at midnight as he wanted to make sure he got the shuttle. I was going to dinner with my family at the time that the line was forming, so it was a no go (the family thing was rather important).

also, utilikilts are awesome kilts. Google it.

Googled it. That's not a kilt, it's a skirt with pockets. Not impressed. A true man wears either a proper kilt or trousers, not some half-assed compromise.

Utilikilts are made of awesome and win. Deal with it.

And yes, I should have planed out wth I was doing at PAX a bit more (including meeting up with online people). Going was a fairly late thing in my plans (my job just changed so I have weekends off, meaning I can do a con by taking off one day instead of 3).
  • locallyunscenelocallyunscene Feeder of Trolls Join Date: 2002-12-25 Member: 11528Members, Constellation
Yeah I wish I had thought to set up meeting times with people too.

Funny story I also ended up at the table top games for a good portion of Saturday. I was playing in a mini-masters and kept winning, which was good but I felt like I missed a lot of stuff.
