As Commander I Want To See...

Individual Scores
I really want to know what everyone's kill/death ratio is as commander. That way I have an idea WHO to give the HMG's and HA too. No use wasting it on a guy that's 3 and 23 when I can give it to a guy that 20 and 4.

More useful would be to see a ratio of points damage that player has inflicted on enemy players+structures so far in the round vs. resource points spent on the equipment they've picked up in the round so far. If a player acts like part of a team and can do monstrous damage to enemy structure groups with plain armor and skilled weapon use, it doesn't help his kill/death ratio because he gets no credit. But he's clearly a better player than the rambo who begs for HA and an HMG because it's the only way he can kill as many skulks as he does.

What was the official reason for not being able to see the marine kill/death ratio like you can with aliens?

The official "fluff" reason is that cause the Marines have to work as a team to be sucessful and scores promote individuality. Therefore, showing scores will make for marines that only play to get kills. Besides, I don't want the Marines to see this, just the commander.

I suggest kills and deaths only because its the easiest to do, since you already get that information. Seems kind of useless to send all the damage that everyone does to you.

If only commander could see it you actually present yourself with a far more annoying problem - people who will beg the commander for there scores while your busy or will attempt to kick you just to see them. It may sound childish but there are people out there annoying enough to do it so be warned

Do kills / deaths to the commander, also please can the commander get a 'spawn soldier with knife only' option to allow us to not waste the 1 res point on respawn on the 'special' people?

Don't do damage/deaths as it will result in all my marines showing me how kickass they are by emptying every clip they own into a ****** res tower.

I think this would still be a very dumb idea giveing Hmg and Armour only to those with good score cuz the other ppl will just sit there comm i need Armour hmg over and over and over again

I personally Like the Command console the way it is

And that is probably also be true about marines alawas asking the comm whats my Kill/Death ratio and when the comm won't give it to you marines would just eject him so they can jump in aand see leaving the marines so disorginzed aliens would have Np everytime Killing them

If you've been the commander the whole game, you can tell who's being a good player and who's not.
You can see people running off alone. You can see when people make kills. You can see who follows your orders. You can see who sticks together in groups. You can see who doesn't whine. You can see who secures locations.
There's no need for the marines to have their scores shown. Part of me feels like the aliens shouldn't get it either, but part of me likes seeing my high alien scores , as I am a fairly good player.

yeah by the time that heavy armour and the powerful weapons come along, you have a good idea on who you can trust to give these items to. the ones you know will stick together, cover each other when building and ensure each other's armour will stay topped off.

generally anyone who asks me for a shotgun/jetpack within a minute of the game starting doesn't get one ever. plus if I command then I generally tell anyone that if they waste any expensive items I give them through incompetence then they'll never get any good items again. that normally helps

No, Then a LOT of people would try to get good stats ONLY so they can get HA/HMG, and, if you kill a fade after 3 deaths, THATS A GOOD THING, however it would look BAD on you K/D, thus, the order following, good troops who will suicide rush a fade if they have nothing(and ONLY if they have nothing) will not get the stuff, even though they are the ones killing the fades&lerks after a few deaths.

If you're an aware commander, you won't need the scores option

1. You'll get an idea of who kills and dies more by looking at the kill/death popups
2. You can tell who is trying to push to a hive or not
3. You can tell if the guy is just standing around always waiting for a drop

I think some damage counter should be added... easy as that, why SHOUND'T we see it? "cause marines based on teamplay, not kills" is a answer i guess i will get, but what if i am still interested?

I'd like to see marines scores because maybe people would try hard to be that person to go 20-4 and then get the jetpack and HMG and still do as good as they did early game and thats fine. If you have a score of say 13-19, and you want a jetpack and grenade launcher(you have the skills to use it), you may not be great with the LMG it all depends on how u look at it, would be cool to see kills and deaths on marine

ediT: You could always look to see if they have a clan tag or a mic , (i wanna see turrets giving command the kills )

It costs resources to respawn?? Is this in tournament mode or normal mode?
• death1death1 Join Date: 2002-11-16 Member: 8920Members
Every time a marine spawns, it costs 1 res... pretty annoying when youre saving for the tf upgrade and 4 kids respawn.

A lot of focus seems to be on generating accurate player scores but what i want to see are the team totals.

Total units spawned/lost/killed... same for resources and structures. That way you've got the stat **obscenity** in ALL of us working for just one set of them.

Anyone know if this is in the pipeline?

Thnx,

i like the idea of commanders having access to k/d ratios. it's easy to implement and gives the commander more info about his team to make decisions by.

i agree that if you have been commanding from the start you have a pretty good idea of who the good (skilled/good at following orders) players are.

thought this would be especially helpful in pubs when the commander leaves in the middle of the round and you have to take over. since you've been following orders like a good marine you wouldn't have necessarily been paying attention to who the good players are.

the k/d ratio may not be the most accurate measure in ns, but it would be easy to implement and at least give you an idea of player skill.

as for llama's whining about their score, as commander you already have to ignore various ignorant requests (ha/hmg at base!! "resources 6"), so what's another silly request to ignore.

type status in the console

You get the frags by player, their wonid, and some other info.

Judging by frag count is rather silly in anything other than a DM game. This is a team game. As commander, you should have _some idea who is the marine that:

1) goes to waypoints
2) follows orders
3) builds as needed
4) doesn't demand gear (other than maybe ammo/health)
5) doesn't die ineffectively (running off and getting killed - bad, running off scouting the enemy hive and passing that info back to the team but still dying - good, running off skulk hunting and dying - bad, dying while chasing the gorges - good )

Giving the gear to the people with the +kill/-death ratios doesn't reward the teamplayer. Don't reward the rambos at the expense of the teamplayers, or why should I bother do anything but rambo?

Reward the behavior you want, if you want that behavior to continue.

Reward the silly rambos, guess what they keep doing?

The players on the TAB scoreboard appear to be sorted by the number of kills that they have earned, going from the most kills at the top to the least kills at the bottom. This should be enough information for a commander to decide who gets the HMG/HA equipment on the basis of frags and there is little need to display more precise stats.

Nope, that's entirely wrong. The only thing the order on the tab popup shows is the order in which people joined the marine team.

It has been said before however, I will say it again:

Type "Status" in your console.

It will give you the stats of all players.
• D3n15D3n15 Join Date: 2002-12-14 Member: 10790Members
I use "status" regularly (I've binded a key to it). I mean, I was a CS freak before I found my true love NS.... and knowing how many frags I got is essential for me. Especially if I'm on a 11 kill 1 death rampage with the itsy bitsy LMG / Pistol combo. This just gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside... ;-)

As a commander however, I find myself so busy jumping around the map, making sure base 1, 2, 3 and marine group 1,2 and lone marines 3,4 are okay, and upgrading x,y,z and etc. that there is no time to type status, and then sort through the totally unaligned columns, to find my Marines and not the Aliens scores! Far easier to just dump packets of joy at base and hope someone half-talented picks it up and doesn't rush off alone to single handedly take on a hive.

The best solution, would be for:
(1) The commander to be able to see everyone's Frag/Death ratio.
(2) The number of structures that were "used" whilst building.
(3) Number of teamates/structures welded.
(4) Orders acknowledged / waypoints reached.
(5) The ability to purchase equipement for the l33t players, and have it reside in the Armory. When the l33t player clicks on the Armory, they get suddenly equiped with say, a HMG, HA, and a Welder.

Of course, I'm probably dreaming here, but it would make commanding a good deal easier. I mean, I got no problem giving n00bs the good stuff, I just want my l33t players to get it first, since they will be pivotal in capturing the next hive. Is this unfairly discriminatory against n00bs? Well geez, I think it gives them a good incentive to follow the l33t's, cause should the l33t die *gasp*, the HMG is ripe for the taking!
