Instead of complaining about how NS2 is not ready, I can instead complain about lack of Gorge Plush.
16,000+ pre-orders 600 sales = Gorge break even If just under 4% of those who pre-ordered NS2 would get a single Plush Gorge, it's break even. Everything =>4% = profits!
It doesn't make business sense to not green light Gorge Plush. You have independent contractors willing to assume the cost and risk of start up. If it fails miserably, you can always say "UWE can do this better, our independent contractors failed." If it does well, you pocket cash *for no work done*, make customers happy, and look good.
It doesn't make community sense to not produce Gorge Plush. People want this and are willing to pay to get it. There has been demand for Gorge Plush for *years*. Saying UWE wants to have creative control of its product to ensure quality seems reasonable, but the fact is it's 8 years since NS1 and there is 0 Gorge Plush to show for it.
Saying something like "Would you rather have NS2 worked on, or Gorge Plush?" leads me to believe there will in fact *never* be Gorge Plush made by UWE, ever. So why do that to everyone?
Not all Gorge Plushes will be created equal, but not producing a single one makes no one happy. Make us happy UWE. Take a risk *doing nothing* for a chance at profit. Being an independent game company seems a hell of a lot riskier than green-lightning Gorge Plush.

I'm not quite sure but assume they make 10 $ profit on each toy (which is a lot imho) it would be with 600 buyers (its like 10% of the people who clicked on this thread) only 6k $ and Charlie already said in his Email that 7k $ is nothing in this industry especially not if they have to sacrefice a lot of time for it.
You might say "let someone else do it" but to be honest I would be more comfortable with them doing all the work and make sure it's an awesome Gorge, instead of letting someone doing it for them (not that I don't trust Graloth with the job, I'm sure he / she is awesome at this :) ).
So let's be patient and we'll get NS2 released + Oldshool and NS2 Plushies + Profit for UWE and us alike !
I myself is not that into plushies at all, but would it not be kind of easy to make a site where ppl buy pllushies with a guarantee to get their money back if not enough order?
Then they could wait and see if it would be worth the work, both the money and time.
lifesize ns1 gorgies would absolutely create huge publicity for ns2 and UWE! imagine friends coming over and seeing something as specific (and big) as the gorge, they gonna be asking what it is, where it came from..!
later, creating all the other models from ns1 would be EPIC! although lifesize onos kinda is out of the picture, but a fade-love"pillow" on the other hand... XD i kid, i keed
would be hilarious with an MC-plushy standing half-way to the kitchen though :D
or set the scale to 1/4 and create all (alien) models as plushies, man would be fun to decorate the crib just for the uniqueness. hive could double as a lamp - hanging over the bed ^^
