Is this a problem with NS2 itself or a networking problem in the UW office?

Woot! Huge changelog for sure. Great job UWE. Hopefully the networking bug isn't too serious. I have class and DirectX stuff to work on tomorrow :(

Well I wouldn't worry too much about getting all the patch notes perfect. A list of what is not in the game yet or still buggy or experimental would probably be better.

That sure is a changelog! I know it's a pain to write those things up but you guys should probably sort the big new features to the top, i.e. the Crag, Flamethrower, power nodes, etc.

    TL;DR

Grats for getting the patch done, took a while but lets hope the alpha becomes playable.

Dont let this kill your buzz, Im over the moon happy about NS2...

..but I really think a web admin interface is a mistake. It should be an RCON interface.

    Rcon interface:

    * is easier
    * works with many existing tools
    * does not need additional ports opened
    * does not need admins to learn new tools/commands
    * can be monitored with the same existing tools

(our clan uses hlsw to run our dod/cs/tf2/l4d servers and it would be perfect if NS2 just worked with that)

The unix 'build tools rather than applications' idea suggests that maybe you should implement the easiest thing and then build the more complex things with that. (Ie, its easier to write a script which listens to the web and controls the server via rcon than it is to write a server script which listens to rcon and controls the game over http).

Still got lots of NS2 love.... this isnt a big hissy fit, just a 'have a think about it, pleeeease'. ;-)

guys you are killing me! stop this patch-> no patch -> patch -> no patch->...

so am I getting it right that "Fix player warping"'s status is "Fixed player warping"? Why isn't it mentioned? Is this included in "Fixed hit registration problems (phew!)"?

I use web interface on my trackmania servers along side RCON and admin Hud controls so i am sure there will be RCON commands included in the final or at least some genius will put one together.

the whole point of a web admin console is so that you don't have to use 3rd party tools :) (also all of the games you mentioned are bascially hl2 mods, so of course they work with the same tool)

besides im sure there will be an rcon type thing anyway.

Very excited to see the power-grid.

Was so happy when Charlie said he was planning to implement it after the podcast17 interview.

Wonder if the scripting changes will help with 'gamemode' style mods rather than 'full mods'.

What time it is "Tomorrow morning" in UK ? is it something like 10/27/2010 at 2 AM as remember at that time most patches where released, but that i think usually was after 5 PM San Francisco time.

    I'm confused.

<i>Edit</i> OK after calculating the timezones i came up with this: They said morning so i suppose they come in at work at 8 AM then they work on the patch for 2h, so patch at UK time should be around 7 - 9 PM

So.. about 180 changes and fixes (187 exact I think - Dont trust my counting haha) and its been 3ish month since 151.

That works out at about 2 fixes a day.

Again, thats pretty awesome for such a small team.
