    So no Flaytona 2010, then.

Very cool. I assumed the engine test would just be a floating camera zooming around a map. Being able to walk around and fire at targets with other avid NS'ers is going to be very cool.

Judging from this, a playable Alpha won't be far away at all.

    "Anxious" is putting it mildly.

Also, I think it would prove extremely helpful if you implemented a very simple "rating" system for the engine test. Ask the users to submit a dxdiag.txt with a 1-5 star rating for performance, and any additional comments. Seems like that would be a bit better than sifting through forum posts.

Very exciting. Are we going to be given console access and an FPS command and whatnot?
  • PhasePhase Join Date: 2003-11-18 Member: 23149Members, Constellation
How will it be released? Over steam or other methods?

Pretty sure only the final release will be on Steam.
All the tests are most likely going to be downloads, similar to the Spark Editor.

Yep, console and fps commands work (although there aren't many console commands in the initial version). r_stats will give you your frame rate, number of draw calls and primitives.

What can we do with the engine test besides run around?

Hope their servers can handle it. Maybe they just won't send out an email until late to avoid that lol.

Though I don't know how big their engine will actually come out to be.

Can we play with any Lua in this Engine Test?
  • YragornYragorn Join Date: 2010-04-04 Member: 71169Members
So um.. Yeah.. When can we input our keys on steam and download the Alpha in order to play when it releases?

You'll be able to run around but there isn't deathmatch in there. Yes, enterprising scripts will be able to start playing around with modding in this release but the API is still solidifying and weren't not quite ready to ship a version of Decoda with it (that'll come later).

    I can't wait! It'll be real!

Have you guys set up any bug tracking systems? Or will you be using forum threads and emails as with the editor?

Count me in on the bug hunting and feedback wagon. I'm looking forward to this, even though it's such a "small" release.

Out of interest, what sort of licence will we receive for Decoda? And can we upgrade it without paying full price for another one?
