Nothing wrong with a bit of e-vanity.

So long as mine works, does what I wants and is relatively priced I'm not too disheartened.

Mr room is tiny so I've just rotated the desk again in order to get a nicer space to sit at. Red and green coolermaster case fans for the win! No amazing specifications as below, but it will do for a good couple of years.

AMD Phenom 2.3Ghz X3 (Some arctic Xtreme cooler cooling that, a big square block thing)
6GB DDR2 Corsair Dominator RAM (Also fitted is the dominator fan set above the DIMMS)
Saphire Radeon 4870 1024MB Graphics Card

Two 22" Monitors (DGM & Yusmart)

Razer Arctosa Keyboard, Razer Lachesis Mouse, Razer Mantis Speedmat. Creative Fatality headphones.

A two way sound card setup for speakers/headphones that I can't be bothered to list. Both creative.

Brought to you buy a craptastic shot from my iphone.

Heh I've got a system with an AGP 6600GT in it. Just waiting on a new TV/monitor to hook it up to. It's such a rad setup it's not even in a real case.

Got HL2 free with it.

Edit: first time I ever played HL2 on that machine, I ran the stress test to check it could handle it.

The PC only turned back on after being left to cool overnight.

My 9600XT wasn't the problem, it was the 1.8GHz processor and 256MiB of RAM that was the issue.
• lolfighterlolfighter Snark, Dire Join Date: 2003-04-20 Member: 15693Members
That would be an issue indeed. Especially the RAM.
• TykjenTykjen Join Date: 2003-01-21 Member: 12552Members, Reinforced - Shadow
Hehe indeed, getting 2 gig of ram made the biggest change in my comp.

and btw the picture was taken AFTER i cleaned it, theres hardly any dust. its just the flash that makes it look so :P
• ThaldarinThaldarin Alonzi! Join Date: 2003-07-15 Member: 18173Members, Constellation
There is a crap load of dust in between the fins. All you have to do is take the heatsink off the CPU, use something like kitchen wipes or baby wipes and just wipe in between it gets it sparkling.

I used a modded dentist brace brush to get in between all my tiny little slats, incase anyone wants to know how to clean their block CPU too.

An old (or new, I guess) stiff-bristled toothbrush does wonders in cleaning computer components.
• lolfighterlolfighter Snark, Dire Join Date: 2003-04-20 Member: 15693Members
It's a bit pricey, but canned air works wonders. Less chance of mechanical damage or static buildup than with a brush, too.
• TesseractTesseract Join Date: 2007-06-21 Member: 61328Members, Constellation
bah, bristled toothbrush and a hoover is perfectly fine

Pfft, luxury. Back in my day we had to not drink water for 2 days to dry out our tongues so we could lick the dust out. And we liked it that way.
• TesseractTesseract Join Date: 2007-06-21 Member: 61328Members, Constellation
Wuss, I licked it wet-tongued while it was still plugged in. Never did me no harm *drools all over his clothes*
