High-rise Chamber Stacking

<div class="IPBDescription">advantages and disadvantages</div> Whats the record for the tallest stacked offence chamber tower??

The highest I've built as a gorge was a 3 tier stack, I've never tried to build any higher. I would like to know whether its possible.

I guess you could build a tall stack using a combination of sensory chambers and defence chambers aswell, sensory chambers are cheap so make good material.

I was thinking that if you could stack a high tower, it could allow your fades and gorges to use them as 'steps' to access previously unreachable places. In effect acting like a booster to higher levels. Theres certain places, like ceiling girders which do not allow fades to spawn.

If chambers could be stacked in such a way to provide steps, then it might give a defence or offence advantage in certain situations.

Whatever the height, I've often used chambers as a gorge next to unreachable vents, so I can climb up them in the event that I need to make a quick escape.

    Go take a look at the Shreve.net forums, there is a pic of a tower leading from the floor to the ceiling at Viaduct hive. Think it was 20 chambers, and they only stopped due to hitting the ceiling.

    Just build a little offset, i.e. not directly on top of the lower chamber, and it acts as a stairwell.

    on the same map, ns_nothing, i often build a stack at the large elevator leading to the power silo. its the largest elevator on the map but if you build enough stacked chambers underneath the elevator, it will jam. its pretty effective until of course the marines get the sieges up. it will still take a long time though if you have 2 stacks there.

    Yeah mine was a quite useless one but there ARE chamber stacks that can be useful!
    On the left side of the Powersilo evelator is a vent tthat is only accesible for skulks. If you put a tower up the vent, you can easily hop in as a gorge or fade!
    Or at the viaduct you can build a tower towards that stairway up in the middle of the room, quite funny to sit up there and bombard the marines that try to take your hive away <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Actually thats an interesting question, how does the area thing work? Is that within the same room, or is it up to a certain height? Because if the chambers were counted to a certain level, it means that higher chambers are not added to the total restriction at floor level.

    Anyone answer this?

    At caged on the vent hive I prefer to stack two OCs on top of two DCs under the elevator to get it to 'bounce' back up. Have one OC right next to the ledge to enable your teammates to press the button, jump up on the OC and then onto the elevator when it reaches it's lowest state.

    This causes the 'storm in' marine no end of trouble until they build a Siege as if they jump down they'll be pulverized in the back with only skulks and **obscenity** aliens to the front <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Hehe, I did the same thing in my map. Except I was able to use the max # of chambers in an area for each chamber. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Then when I built the last one, it hit the ceiling and started to fall..... Then I lost my little footing and fell to my horrible, horrible death.
