New Race

A New race called "The Unknown" a race related too the Kharra but different.
I thought this would be a nice idea. They would be enemies with the Kharra though.

Hunter>

Health: 60
Armor: 35
Speed: Medium-Fast
Weapons:
Claws (You know what these are.)
Tongue(Kinda like the Drones from Alien. They have tongues with a mouth.)
Rapid Shot (Being able too shoot their claws out of their fingers then the claws regenerate into their fingers.)
Rage (Run up too a Marine then cling on their heads and bite their heads off.)

What would it be?:
It would be much more different than a Skulk and it would be the starting Class. (It would stand on legs it would look like a fade but more gross and slimey!)

Powers:
Cloak (Turn almost invisible until you attack or get wounded/attacked/shot or even damaged.)
Wall Climb (Not like the skulk, Could only hang on a wall and wait for its prey. Basically cannot strafe on a wall.)



Stalker>
Costs 35 Res
Health: 95
Armor: 55
Speed: Slow
Weapons:
Stalk (Bite the enemy and give them a virus, Their health slowly drains down until they die.)

Sabotage (Bite the enemys armor and give it a Virus, it's armor will become infected and the armor will decrease. Will only work on Frontiersmen. And very slowly on heavy armor)

Hack (Hack into a Frontiersmen Structure and shut it down fast. Commander would need a new Upgrade called Linker Defense that will stop Stalkers from hacking into structures.)

Shock (Shock any enemy, Kharra or Frontiersmen and Paralyze them for a period of time and their health would go down a little while they are paralyzed for that period of time.)

What is it?: Its a worm that would be useful for breaking into Frontiersmen Structures. More useful against Frontiersmen than Kharra.

Powers:
Stalker Virus (Get into a Frontiersman or Kharras body and screw them up.)

Viper>
Costs 65 Res
Health: 175
Armor: 90
Speed: Fast
Weapons:

Gore (Tear anything in your way too shreds with your claws.)

Pound (Kick something with your enormous feet.)

Chemical Burn (The monster opens his mouth and shoots acid out of it.)

Crush (Stomp on the enemy.)


What is it?: Completely Insane. Can run fast, Jump from walls too walls and stuff like that, But is crazier and more dangerous than a skulk.

Powers:

Hell-Fire (Set yourself on fire. Kamikaze!)
Cloak (Not like the Hunter. Can cloak for a set amount of time and is dependant on movement.)
Build Defense Chamber
Build Offense Chamber
Build Feed Chamber (When ever near one your attacks are stronger. Doesn't matter if your Kharra or The Unknown.)

Gargantua>
Costs: 130 Res
Health: 550
Speed: Medium-Slow
Weapons:

Pyro (Light living things on fire.)

Armor Drain (Suck the armor out of a Frontiersmen.)

Digest (Ever digest anything as an Onos? Here you go.)

Charge (Charge Like an onos.)

Powers:
Its so strong that it doesn't need powers.

What is it?: Its an alien made of alien skin and flesh but has metal plates that guards its skin. Its a bit bigger than an onos.

    well i'd thought i'd say WELCOME TO THE FORUMS <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> before the flaming begins lol.

    Some great ideas in there, but don't except another race to get into the game anytime soon - the game is only just balanced as it is.

    Hunter -> Flyra

    Stalker -> Max

    and um... Yeah I dunno what to call the other ones X3

    An alternative human team could be an experiment. As in a corperation team, though thats a bit simular to AVP. But i think if marine vs marine maps r gonna turn up they should create a slightly different human team to give it a better story and more diversity. I wud very much doubt this kind of work would appear in the first version of the game though

    It is a noble idea to post, and isn't a bad one. However shouldn't be in NS2. In an expansion down the road sure, but I would really like NS2 to be released sooner with the core part of NS with a few changes. Much like TFC --> TF2, same game but few changes.

    Im thinking if they add an extra alien race, in an expansion of ns 2
    they should also ad an extra marine race (government overthrown, new race going in to take out marines still left in mines)
    This would lead to a comprehensive marine vs marine and alien vs alien

    I like the idea of a human orginisation better then another alien one -->

    <span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>Something along the lines of not so technology dependant as the TSA, but more a kind of lowtech/very efficient rebel/outcast clan, which has discovered a new kind of alloy that is extremely though and extremely light.

    Something along the lines of a boss unit in an exo-suit and a central jammer unit to disable bacteria and the nanogrid attacking them. The boss in the exosuit can build and upgrade structures, but can't move too far from the main jammer unit due to bacteria or nanogrid interferance on his systems. He does get a popup minimap of the explored area and can give individual troopers orders.

    They can get buildings to get their weapons and armor, which the individual troopers can select themselves to create their own class (big heavy weapons, but slower - light closerange weapons, but faster - heavy armor/slow vs light armor and very agile). Making them very adaptive to any situation given to them. And of course their main defense it a good offense by sabotaging the enemy's ability to fight using jammers and shockers and energy absorbers... Once an outpost is sabotaged they can move in and sweep the area very easily. Their res flow is dependant on the amount of deployed energy aborbers (they can put these on the well know resnodes (if these are at all in NS2)

    Reinforcements would be trough means of their ship exit (they litterly ram their ship into a ship or facility to board it), which means they cannot relocate their main, but as a plus they have a faster respawn rate and a lot of adaptability/customisation per player.</span>


    Of course a third race is not gonnah happen in NS2 or Flay and Max have something up their sleeve...

    @ontopic:

    Adding another alien race, it might get even more starcrafty if ya know what I mean. And not to put ya down or anything, but these alien classes seem very similar to the Khaara even with the slight changes, the sabotaging skills are quite cool though. Also they would be more a hybrid between melee and ranged?

    if there were to be a third faction/side/race. i agree that a more human one may work better. another option might be a mechaniod faction, you could have various models of mechs from more humaniod ones, to spider bots and all sorts. They could have high armour and low hp, and mainly be equiped with energy weapons.

    The problem with a third race, is it'l only really work if they are individual enuth to be seen as completely separate from the other two races. Balancing of the game also become harder. balanceing tow opposing teams is alot easier than leveling three. especially if the three operate in completly individual ways. the khraa and the rines operate in very different ways. most fps, have rather similar sides, with just slight atlerations in the guns avliable. Theres alot of rts with three very different sides i spose, emporer for dune, supreme commander, starcraft? so balanceing the rts side maybe easier.

    The other problem is if one race isnt percieved to be quite as fun, it could be rejected and not played. All these issues could be sorted but with lots of time and investement that im sure UW dont have.
    Id like to see the community develope a slightly altered rine side, if they develope MVM maps again, cos blue team red team sux

    I agree that if there was a third side, humans would work best. My idea for 3rd faction was always some greedy megacorporation so stereotypical for this genre out to capture some samples of Kharaa biology for their bio-weapons division (sounds familiar, yes?) or just stake a claim on now-abandoned facilities. While marines have relatively simple but reliable equipment, the corps would have fancy but unproven shiny gear. They'd probably be sneakier with silenced but weaker submachine guns and stuff like that.

    Some renegade colony that treats AI's as full citicens and most humans become cyborgs could be a good excuse to create some unique units. Ah, enough ranting... I know that 3rd side isn't going to happen.
