Why are his nick changing during the run?
It looks like he uses quick-loadings.
    <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

As I already pointed out, that run is segmented into 180 parts. So he plays an average of 10 seconds, goes to the bathroom, quickloads, plays 10 seconds ...

Its a bug in the HL1 Engine when loading demos.

He didnt take that video; he merely sent all of the demos to speedarchives, who then recorded the demos while playing into video files.

In CPMA you can go from a standstill to moving faster than 60% of that video in under half a second. So yeah, it's not particularly impressive once you've seen some promode flagruns, which are kinda similar except with bs rocketjump/boost precision.
    <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
So make a faster one? :/

I've seen the single segment run so I might skip this one... it's bugging me that he recorded short takes and compiled all the best takes into one huge run.

A very well planned and executed run. Bhop was all good, but nothing some save-load practice and segmented run combination couldn't do. The navigation and planning were impressive if you ask me. The gauss rifle script was a bit nasty, but I guess speedruns are all about abusing the game anyway.

Some of us were playing more fun games when HL came out, or we didn't have interent and HL wasn't on the radar.

I also have never finished HL, and I only once booted up single player, just to play NS orginally back on WON, that was the first time I've heard of HL was back when NS was released all those many years ago. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

yeah and cpma has strafe jumping which is way faster than bunnyhopping and it has better air control, whats your point

The CPMA air control is actually identical to HL, which is identical to QW which is where they both ripped it from. So uhhh .... yeah, learn what you're talking about. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

My point is that the run isn't particularly impressive. It's decent, and it's fast - no doubt. But it isn't impressive if you've seen/played CPMA or QW.

I don't think SpaceJesus takes the hella clever alternate routes, NPC exploits, trigger breaking and genius of it all.

The run isn't about how fast one can bunny hop, it's finishing a 8~ hour game in 30 minutes.

nice pushing scientist up to eye scanners for them whil they were engaged in dialoge

    nice hopping on the reactor

    nice vort jump

######! He jumps the first pit you encounter that takes a big detour like it's nothing

first time he uses the shotgun pretty clean, giving the two vorts the double barrel on the fly

saw him skip the hostile intent level, no HA grunts yet... pretty clever... need to remeber that one =D

he's used the ladder like I do in ns, and I'm... shocked at how he just used the train... to jump, and he just anihilates the toxic level that was so ardious

12:10 nice grenade jump skiping the whole giant silo sequence...

and again, with savage ladder usage

runs thru the huge claw like it's nothing, also engages rocket from inside.

nice minelader at 15:10 to beat on a rail, I like how he took the electricity as well...

cleared the elevator and the grunt with some headshots from the magnum, rewatching three times.. I enjoy how he pretty much ignores anything not specific to the tast at hand and literally flies thru enemys

I was waiting for him to ditch the train and just bhop, nice grenade jump in the silo...

wow he just owned that machine gun nest and the marines gaurding it, he just dishes out the ownage it's so sad...

LAWL 17:07 kills ha grunts in the room your not usually supposed to be in, uses the health despenser THRU THE WALL <3

he does this weird box push thing that I saw him do earlier,,,

uses first satchel to kill some vorts after he jumps thru them and rides and elevator up, I figured he would use it to jump.

jumped to the health dispesner so he can use it during the GET HIM mandatory black out, smooth =3

21:58 he picks up snarks and crossbow and I expect grand things

    gauus + snark jumping, SKetch!

    flies thru annoying sand part...

23:56 completly owns the cliffs area with the gauss gun, and some slick wallsliding I rewatch

snarks up a building to avoid the nasty nuclear bombs in it, super savage...

snarks for map haxs into crossbowing a grunt, but missing the second and blasting him sg, proceeds to rape with crossbow and I am pleased, he gives barney such excellent cover...

owns the targeting map area nicely...

one thing I've noticed thruout is that he runs ahead of the chaos always, it's jokes...

28:13 wow the grenade jump ownage...

forces the tranpsport to xen and proceds to do stupid things so crazy to get thru the level so fast it's only pure ownage

owns more of xen super fast, I wonder how long the final boss will be, and does he not take the job from the g-man at the end?

man he just has the gonarach wrapped around his finger, so sad.....

finishes it off nicely, like 5 satchesl and 5 mines, the owns xen more ridiculously...

    31:46 jumps a pit nicely

owns the nialinth, with 1 hp... manages to get in the head as it explodes, nice... notice he breaks out crowbar and swings it before it goes to cutscenes...

<b>this guy is nuts, how long did it take to plan this? it only took 30 minutes to do, but I bet it took daaays to plan....</b>

Interesting, but I dislike the cut-together aspect of it, the script use for gaussboosting, and that he cuts out some sections that would normally go un-noticed to shave tens of seconds... most notable in the vents, and going through a few timed doors. Just 'blips' and is in another section pretty blatantly at one point, with green ooze on the floor.

Definitely an interesting watch, but I wouldn't classify it as a clean speedrun... same way I don't view tool-assisted demos as 'speedruns' for any of the Mario series.

Give me a one-segment pure skill 30 minute speedrun, and I'll be in awe. This one just doesn't do it.

The fact that it was 180 10 second seqments irked me as well, same with the scripitng gauss bosting

The "Blip with the green ooze on the floor" is actually a bug: that elevator does not actually move, so if you push the button through the wall, and stay near the doors, it still triggers the load-point, and you start outside the elevator. It shaves off about 5 seconds.

The others are due to a bug in the demo recording feature. He actually goes through them and counts the time spent, but it doesn't show it because it takes a second or so for the recorder to kick in after loading a new level.

Were you all impressed by that 6 hour game being completed in 30 minutes? Yeah, I was too.

Now watch someone finish a 20 hour game in 40 minutes.
