#1 is a pretty big statement. Some players work well in some ways but not in others, so I'd break it down into:

    1:
    a. Follows orders from the commander
    b. Covers other marines when building
    c. Does what helps the team most, not what gets them the best K:D ratio
    d. On aliens, is willing to drop structures when needed

A lot of players do some but not all of those.

A good NSPlayer, which has always been very rare, has the desire to learn and improve in the game - everything else comes naturally. Most people just play for the sake of playing (numb entertainment value) or due to one vice or another.

A good NSPlayer is one who outsmarts, outwits, and outplays.

    I'll add some;

    - is willing to play official maps classified "weird" by "pr0's" (machina, shiva, etc)
    - is not afraid to try out well-built custom maps (ns_achio for example, that doesn't mean siege maps)
    - doesn't spawn camp excessively on pubs
    - is changing team when it's needed for balance, instead of taking the opportunity to rack more kills, resulting in rage quits and killing of the round and/or the server
    - is joining the team that has less points

I could go on and on... A true good NS player is very rare indeed.

A good NSPlayer does whatever his team needs him to do in order to achieve victory. Another good trait is a willingness to improve upon their "game". Having a sense of humor is also nice.

    Wait, pubs are a joke?
So everyone should make a clan and play matches and stay out of pubs at all?

Well, at least the danger of running into tomekki are pretty low on pubs... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

    @ Tomekki

Those points i mentioned were not yours.

They were quoted directly from Zaggys first post (Hence you can see Zaggy at the top of the quote and then there is also that link, which points directly to zaggys post...)

And i an only assume what "###### you" is suposed to mean, bit I am assuming the sweafilter caugt a ###### you.

    Thus: <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

EDIT: And to just make shure that the clanner vs pubbers debate doesnt rise again:
Pubbers can live witheout clanners (no doubt) but clanners cannot live without pubbers, because the recruit themselves from clanners.

i cant live without pubbers? im going to be perfectly honest when i say that pubbers have no impact on my life, and neither do "clanners". friends that ive made through ns, however, do have a slight impact. real friends, not e-friends.

    No, I really don't.

I don't give two ###### about what pubbers do and don't, I really couldn't care less. But when you post stupid ish like that I can't keep myself from commenting, since (in my experience):

    1. While certainly competitive players -- in most cases terrible players playing for terrible teams who are too dumb to see or care that they give competitive players a bad reputation -- rage at their teammates for being bad more often than pubbers, pubbers whine a lot more than competitive players.

(I won't pretend that I've never ######ed and moaned when pubbing, but that's fortunately a personality flaw I've gotten rid of quite a while ago.)

    2. Pubbers blame other players for their own mistakes more frequently than competitive players.

    3. Pubbers ragequit more frequently than competitive players.

Frankly though, dividing NS players into two groups: competitive players and pubbers is pretty lame. While competitive players are generally a lot better at playing NS than pubbers, it doesn't really say much about the mental qualities of the people in question. In fact I'd say that both groups are -- percentage wise -- equally infested with spongebrains and numbnuts. The difference, of course, is that there are a lot more pubbers than competitive players, which also means that there are a lot more stupid pubbers than stupid competitive players. This problem is also compounded by the fact that even the intelligent pubbers generally have a very poor understanding of how NS gameplay actually <b>works</b>.

Also stop using the word "clanner". Most people claiming to be in a "clan" aren't competitive players.

And competitive play isn't a joke? Aren't we all just sitting around blasting fake aliens and saving imaginary space stations? Taking games too seriously=fail

I would add that a good NSplayer doesn't take the game TOO seriously. Sure you are there to play and not totally goof off when others are depending on you but taking it too seriously just turns it into another job...which in turn usually leads to either ###### others off, or you yourself getting ###### off.

I don't know for certain what makes the best NS player anymore, but I'll tell you what people seem to think makes them a better NS player:
    1. Absolute arrogance and complete contempt for everyone who doesn't agree with them (optional, but prevalent).
    2. Doesn't play in pubs. Ever. (see: contempt)
    3. Mad aiming skills.
    4. Reflexes that would make peter parker jealous.
    5. Ability to adjust their gamma until shadows no longer exist.
    6. Belief that the game should only be fun for people who posses all of the above qualities.

this is exactly what im talking about. dont play on pubs. ns pubs are overcrowded with bitter , conservative, narcissistic and contemptuous rejects who live to try and make you feel miserable because of what you do or refrain from doing. they do it because they need ns, if they have a bad day they take it out on other people on public servers. they pretend to be team players, yet have never played in a team to know what it means. and they think they can solve their personal problems by singling out a group of people ("clannerds") and attacking that group furiously on every opportunity.

dont surround yourself with people like these is what im saying, that is if you want to be a good nsplayer (and remain a sane person).
