Popping sternum

<div class="IPBDescription">Anyone have this problem?</div>Kinda random, but I was just curious to see if anyone else experiences this.

About a year ago I noticed that my sternum had felt a little different, like there was a lot of pressure on it (like a knuckle which needed to be popped). I'd deal with it by turning my head and pulling my shoulders back which would make it feel like I was stretching it. Just recently it's been making popping noises, like popping the knuckles in your hands. Has anyone else had this problem before? If so, is it something I should see a doctor about?

    I'm sorry, I just wanted to be the first one to do it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

I sometimes can get the sternum area to do a knuckle-cracking type thing if i stretch backwards and whatnot.. not often but it happens o_O

But this pressure and constant popping is interesting O_O

"In a few hours.. it's going to burst its way through your ribcage..."

    Probably cartilage problems.

    Or a chest-burster.

    <Emerald> I get that. Uh-oh.
<Emerald> If you have a membership there, tell him it's a tight ligament,
    <NEO|Phyte^> done
<Lucid_Archon> How did you know that?
<Emerald> I have the exact same thing.
<Emerald> There isn't really a lot there that's going to tighten and pop.

I really, REALLY pulled my back a few months ago, and then for 3-4 weeks after that my sternum made little popping, bubbly sort of noises. Like cracking knuckles underwater or something. Bugged the heck out of me but they went away right as I got used to them. Go figure.

I have the same thing, if you exercise regularly it tends to go away. I had no idea what it was but I know it isn't harmful because I know other people who have it too. Emeralds explanation sounds pretty plausible.

I've gone through it too, just getting over it now, hopefully. Nothing to worry about.

"Popping sternum" sounds like a breakdancing move.

"Man that guy can really pop some sternum"
    "Yo dawg that is whack"

Wait wait, it could also be an indian name.

    "Raging bull meet popping sternum"
"Popping sternum? How did he get that name?"
"Because he can throw down on the flattened cardboard box like nobodies business. Yeeeeah booooy!"
    "Yo dawg that is whack"

I think it sounds more like something you could finish off a rail-grind with, "Popping the sternum" after a 180-grind.
