19.99 imo sounds a little low, however everyone can always dontate the rest they deem fair <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

Yeah $20 does seem a bit low, i would have no problem paying up to $50 for a full stand alone game. Fairly standard price in the console world.

And ppl should note that even the 20$ price could be expensive in countries other than usa or europe.

    Europe isn't a country y'know (sry had to say it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />)

    Anyway €20 is a pretty cheap price. Still I'd better see some 1.04 feature back AND more RTS <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Ah god, I've been looking at that avatar for years now, and just now I realize it's a nerdy naruto character >:(

Anyways, I intended to say, I doubt I'd pay for NS2 if it was more then $30. IMO very few games deserve to charge that much. You buy NS you're not buying a game engine, you're just buying a title. This isn't Doom3 or Unreal, this isn't a huge scale project like final fantasy or resident evil. What are the chances we're even going to be getting a full scale single player segment? Would you EVER pay more then $30 for a new release of CS multiplayer? I think 29.99 is the spot on max that is even reasonable for a title like this. 19.99 is fair considering the small size of UWE as a game development studio, even if NS2 fully lives up to the impressive relative quality of it's predecessor.

Wow, $20 eh? I was going to go with $30 as well for my guess.

yeh but multiplayer has a longer life then singleplayer (even good ones with replay value)

And yes, Shikamaru is a nerdy 200+IQ naruto character. I have a thing against using "popular" main characters of a series, besides his comedy is > then all of the other chars combined <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

    I'm willing to pay 39$ for NS2, a poll would be more useful. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/marine.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::marine::" border="0" alt="marine.gif" />

I would be willing to buy a new computer to play NS2, so the pricing is irrelevant to me.
  • MuSaMuSa Join Date: 2007-01-07 Member: 59496Members
I think NS2 should cost $20. Most (multiplayer only) HL2 mods cost $20, while the single/multi-player ones cost $50. I hear NS2 will only be multiplayer(online). If its $20 I will buy it hands down, but im sure ill purchase it for whatever price they decide. Best mod ive played since CS (beta) .

coming back to this, I would like to add that NS isn't garys mod. This isn't the ship either (which was unfinished at release, boring buggy game). I really think 19.99 is too low for final price. I think 29.99 for final price and 24.99 for pre-order special sends the right message (or if you are really worried, flayra, 24.99 for final price and 19.99 for preorder special) and is appropriate for the game play that the ns games offer.
  • MuSaMuSa Join Date: 2007-01-07 Member: 59496Members
Very good point. $19.99 for pre-order is an excellent idea. And for those who arent anxious enough to pre-order a $24.99 price-tag is fair. I really hope I see the price soon. Im so anxious <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I pay 50GBP (about $100US) for a 360 game thats the high teir of 360 game prices.

Because I love NS I would pay that. If its cheaper I might buy 2 copies for fun. one for each hand.

I do think $20US is too low though, $30+ is good.

$x9.99 type pricing annoys me though , I would rather pay one penny more.

When you have a name (like Half-Like, Quake...) you can price the game what you want.

I think I would spend easily $50 on NS2 but you could make the game $20 and then a $30 expansion pack which unlocks the flamethrower.

    I think pre-ordering: $24.99 and full $29.99

Even with multiplayer only, that's still cheap. $19.99 is VERY VERY cheap for what the game is and might be under-valuing the product a fair bit.

Personally, I would happily pay up to $80 for NS2, which equates to the standard price of games over here in the UK at the moment.

I can honestly say I would pay 40-50 bucks to play NS2 sight-unseen, based simply of my enjoyment of the first NS. That aside, 40 bucks would be a bit much to the general public for a MP-only game. But right now it's much too early to debate price for a game that's not even reached early alpha stages.

I think 30$ is good. 27$ is good. 25$...i think sends 'cheap' message. Anything over 25$ == good #$%#, please smoke me. Anything on steam over 25$ == good #$%#, please smoke me. Make it over 25$.

Don't decrease the price either. LEAVE IT AT the original price for a very long time. Not that many more people will pay less money to get it. You're better off leaving it high, imho.

I'd pay pretty much whatever it cost. But the goal is to get the largest user base possible, which means pricing for the public rather than for the hardcore forum-goers.

So probably somewhere between $20 and $30 US. The problem is, while people usually buy more of anything thats cheaper, they also get a certain stereotypical idea of how good a game will be, sight unseen, just based on the price. They look at a $20 game and think, that must be a cheap low-budget production that probably won't be very good. Not everyone, certainly, but enough.

Is it possible to price differently in the US and overseas? It might not be a terrible idea to charge more in the US and cut the price for overseas buyers. Really, pricing is a complicated decision.

I might do something like $25 US, $19.99 pre-order, €20 for Europe. All our european comments in the thread have indicated €20 is more than reasonable. Of course, we don't really even know what exchange rates will be like when NS2 is done. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

$24.99 or $29.99 would be great for this game. Like others said, $19.99 makes it seem like the quality isn't that great.

and once its raised all the people can tell every1 how primo it is and its worth the $25

and when i mean cheap the first week i mean like $10-$15

omg why you all talking like bullish???
This is so stupid to say games with low price have bad quality...thats realy stupid!
Dont forget, people can play NS1 for free, so the Unkown Worlds need to get the fans to NS2.
Ya they can put the price to 99$...oh all people think, the game quality will be the best ever. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" />
<b>19.99$ is the perfect price </b>and all will like this price!
24,99 or 29.99$ is to much for all fans, i will pay it...but i think many fans (not freaks...)like the FREE mod for halflife1 and think "poor so much for a multiplayer only game"?
in germany pay pal dont work, and <b>many</b> people in germany<b> dont </b>have a credit card.
So they need to pay with a new credit card (cost: 36$)
Then natural selection 2 cost 29,99$ its like 65 $

Thank god, flayra say "I'm guessing we're going to sell NS2 for $19.99 U.S., but that's just a guess at this point."
