<div class="IPBDescription">What games are recommended to buy?</div>Basically ive pre-ordered a Wii which will be coming tomorrow as a birthday present (21st december) so I cannot play it until then, but im clueless about what games are good or bad. From reading some reviews on gamespot hopes arent high for lots of cool games, but I wanna hear a more general gamer point of view. As it is out in America already, there should be alot of you who already have a Wii, so suggest away!

    Happy birthday!

    I'm getting:
    Zelda
    Trauma Center

    <eventually>
    Mariokart
    Super Mario Galaxy
    Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
    Metroid Prime 3

    Here's a short list... (note: old site) <a href="http://www.gamesforwii.net/wii-games" target="_blank">http://www.gamesforwii.net/wii-games</a>

All of the above (except Crystal Chronicles?) plus WarioWare which I'm convinced will be awesome for house parties. If you want another solid title get Red Steel, but know it won't blow you away or take you anywhere special.

    Twilight Princess (Zelda)

That is the ONLY one you need that is new. The rest should all be old ones.

I have Twilight Princess coming with the console already, the place I bought it from gave me 10 pounds off a game which I purchase with it, and TP had to be the one! I didn't know there was gonna be a Mario kart for the Wii, what is it called? Also I'm not sure on Mario Galaxy, I've never enjoyed the 3D Mario games whatsoever, that goes for Mario 64, sunshine and most likely galaxy.

Project HAMMER is looking good, but I can't comment on actual quality.

And while its a sports game, I've been told that the Wii version of Madden has some of the most inventive uses of the controller yet.

There's nothing official about Mario Kart on the Wii atm, and thus have no specific name. But it's bound to happen more or less <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I haven't got a wii yet - as it's not out until tomorrow here in bleskiveland (Denmark >_>, for the uniniated). But planning on getting Zelda, Wii Play (not out in the US before January iirc), Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Perhaps Rayman, probably Mario Party (whenever that comes out).

Edit: forgot about Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Will probably get that too.

Rayman's gold as far as I've heard.

I've heard that Red Steel is trash, but a friend claims that it's great if you can appreciate it in Goldeneye's style--overdone explosions and stupid AI can be fun.

Meh Red Steel looks fun for about 5 minutes from watching videos, the gangster method of holding uzis gets old fast <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

all you need to know about rayman: it features 4 player competitive cow milking. <a href="http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/736/736887/rayman-raving-rabbids-20061002052956405.jpg" target="_blank"> picture</a>

i'm also reasonably sure one of those animals is not, in fact, a cow.

edit: removed image for size reasons, instead click on that link.

    Zelda and Trama Center FTW.

Rent Super Monkey Ball. You may like it. It's not really my thing, but I can see how others would love it.
I hear Red Steel is actually not as bad as its made out to be, it's mainly just very very disappointing from all the hype. Maybe it's worth a rental too.

Really though I've logged more hours w/ Wii Sports than anything. :P

I'm not keen on Trauma Centre, operations dont really get me excited that much. As for super monkey ball, I got that on the gamecube so I might get it for the Wii.

I picked up Trauma Center for the DS *entirely* on recommendation. I had no personal interest in it, but so many people (whose opinions I respect) had had amazing things to say about it, that I said "what the heck" and grabbed it when I saw it on the shelf. I absolutely love it, and so does my girlfriend, and I've never regretted the purchase. It's not a "surgery simulator" -- it's an innovative <i>game</i> with an engaging, classic anime-style plot, worthwhile (if somewhat one-dimensional) characters, and some really fun and challenging gameplay.

When I heard the Wii game was going to be more than just a remake, it clinched it for me: I'll be getting it, and my girlfriend and I will have many fun times playing Doctor. ....ahem.

In the end I picked up Wii play mainly for the bundled remote, as remotes are 30 pounds here, but Wii play costs 35 pounds so im paying 5 pounds for a game. Also picked up Need for Speed: Carbon and an extra remote (that makes 3). Next year when everything is in stock again I shall pick up an extra remote to complete the collection and a few other games, such as Trauma Centre and Super Monkey Ball.

Thanks for the help guys! Much appreciated.

I've got Zelda, Need for Speed: Carbon, Madden 2007, Red Steel, and (obviously) Wii Sports. I've also got 4 controllers, 4 nunchuks, and a classic controller...and bought a wireless router for online games. The wireless router also works with my DS Lite, so I killed two birds with one stone.

My parents love Wii sports, My mom actually owns me at bowling, it's a bit humiliating.

The whole Mii concept is so awesome too, I hope they incorporate it in more games. I want to play Smash Bros Brawl with my Mii, lol.

So you mean, I can connect my Wii, which is connected to the TV, to play Dawn of Sorrow on the big screen??

I am so frustrated right now. I am getting a Wii for my birthday which is on the 21st, but my parents said I can have it early. I have been waiting so long for my Wii but I think it would spoil my birthday if I opened my present early. Also I have alot of college work to get completed before the 20th, so I am trying to work whilst taking the Wii off of my mind. The worst part is I know I CAN play the Wii, but im choosing to stop myself. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

    Aaaaaaaaarrrgghhh. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" /> (I heard shooting stuff is a good way to relieve stress.)
