Reccomened games?

<div class="IPBDescription">Or mods?</div>Hey guys, I've been bored with computer gaming lately. I'm looking for something.... I don't know... fun, I guess. Maybe something with an interesting gimmick, like use of physics or something.

I've played through Need for Speed Carbon. Too easy...
I've tried Stronghold: Legends (Way to ruin the series, Firefly!)
Sadly haven't touched NS. :/ Will try it when 3.2 is out again.
I'm downloading that "RoboBlitz" demo by Valve, using the Unreal 3 engine. I'll see how that goes.
I've played through, and have got bored of, "Toribash" - a physics based, turned based fighting game. (So much damn fun!). <a href="http://www.toribash.com/" target="_blank">http://www.toribash.com/</a> if you're interested/
Just canceled my WoW account. >.>
BF2142 is teh sux.

Any suggestions for a bored Sid? :/

Thanks for your time! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

    Got a PS2?

Get your ps2 online, and pickup Socom: Combined Assault.

So much damned fun, that game. Dont know why socom is always overlooked in the area of online gaming; it easily stands up on its own to games like Halo2, Counterstrike, and battlefield online.

Probably because the ps2's online service overall is crap, but socom online blows your pants off. (And puts them back on for you!) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" />

Couple of ideas spring to mind:

    Jumper and Jumper 2 <a href="http://www.helixgamesinc.com" target="_blank">link</a>
Very addictive and hard platformer. Everything a game should be: Its simple, yet undeniably fun. I personally think this guy has serious design talent.

    Netrek <a href="http://www.playnetrek.org/" target="_blank">link</a>
Great online mutiplayer game. Very tactical and strategic.

    Hostile Intent (HL Mod) <a href="http://www.hostileintent.org/" target="_blank">link</a>
Its like CS, but fun. Emphasis is on tactics, not mad point n' click skills.

    Kiki the Nanobot <a href="http://kiki.sourceforge.net/" target="_blank">link</a>
Single player 3D puzzle game. Interesting physics.

On a related note, if anyone knows of a game as epic and addicting as NS 1.04 I'd like to know about it. Even if it isn't free.

Deadly Rooms of Death (DROD) <a href="http://forum.caravelgames.com/viewsitepage.php?id=90294" target="_blank">link</a>
Its... hard to explain. Mostly a puzzle game.

Would it be illegal for me to say "get a SNES emulator and try an old Final Fantasy game?".

Never was interested in the "abandonware or not" discussion. As all the new consoles seem to have backwards compatability or an online library of old games- it probably is illegal.

    So don't do it.

Actually.. listening to myself reply, it seems that I have lots of games to play. o.o Maybe I was wrong, and just didn't pay enough attention to my own hard drive. Thanks guys, I'll be sure to check out each link in this thread. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Who knows, maybe this thread could serve as a collaboration of links to interesting games and whatnot? So our Children's Children can be happy and find some games to play! ...Or not.

But anyways, thanks. You have quenched Sid's boredom. +exp!

..Maybe I'm just waiting for that super awesome game to come out? Have you guys noticed that lately? Lackluster pc releases? Only a handful of good games released every year? What happened to a time when every pc game brought atleast something new to the table? D:

If you own a Playstation 2, consider Shadow of the Collossus. Basically its 80% -beautiful- landscapes and 20% fighting monsters as big as very large buildings (20 monsters in total, each unique).

It's a really, really aesthetically pleasing game and climbing up the back of a giant leviathon to slam your sword in its back repeatedly before it flings you off is a great experience.

Agreed, try and complete everything in the game (Believe me, there's a lot of hidden stuff)

Do you remember the thread we had about Cave Story?

Aparently they might be bringing it out for the DS

Space Cowboys. I haven't played it but people seem to like it.

Or you could try the EVE 14 day trial.

Actually i had the same problem some time ago. Then i came over this wierd PvP video from some MMORPG
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB4ZZWvbfwI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB4ZZWvbfwI</a> (Look how cute he is, with teh little hat) I asked several friends. Some thought it was FF online. but no... it was a game named FLYFF (Fly for fun) A FREE(!) MMORPG
wich could be downloaded directly from the page flyff.gpotato.com. So i downloaded it and started playing. The first thing that struck me was that it was directly translated from korean... (defansiv armour, Ofansiv wepon) However the game greatly improves after you have gained a couple of lvls.
You should try and watch the video and read about the classes and such. if you like mmos you won't get disapointed

And when you master it, Ufo2000 (port with online playing).

If you don't mind old games, there's a BUNCH of them which are well worth their weight in MB. (we are talking about a stellar quality:MB ratio)

what about The Hidden:Source? the game interested me in the first minute but seriously it bored me in just like 2 weeks after i had started it.

Company of Heros? it is one of the best RTS although it required a lot of micro where i find annoying sometimes.

The Hidden is a very fun game while you're the hidden. The problem is that you are not the hidden most of the time.

The hidden + shotgun + pretending you don't see the hidden but you do = fun.

There's no pretending. I don't know if it's shader issues or what, but the hidden is next to impossible to see.

Maybe if you've got a decent computer. Us people without shader support don't play Hidden for very long.
I preferred the betas, where it was the other way around.
