There are still people that play it. You can check #ns-gw on gamesurge for those that do. Most people have their characters in their setinfo.

I was only ever really interested in playing through the story of the game and exploring crap, but I could never find a guild so I was stuck trying to solo the game, which really isn't fun because individual characters aren't really strong enough and the recruits they give you are borderline retarded and about a fraction of the usefulness of another player character, yet they still steal the same amount of experience and items.

If anyone's interested in starting a new character and playing through with me jarpg style then I'd consider picking the game up again, I have a few l8 or so characters stuck in the ruins.

ruins? is that after the world went KABOOM! I really skipped most of the quests, so I can go back to where you are and help you out, also just checking the #ns-gw and I remember the old guild name [AWE].

Gimme your name and I'll add you I guess, or you can add me, playing with my monk at the moment, "Dwaynas Sufferer"

I'm playing it a fair lot these days. Like KFDM said, go join #ns-gw and check my setinfo for character names.

I find lineage 2 much more appealing though I do have guildwars I don't play it.

I also have 3 lineage 2 accounts i can give away to someone if they want them, with lvl 38 characters on them free of charge, but of course you have to pay a monthly fee to play the game. If you'd like the accounts feel free to PM me if your seriously going to play it. If not please dont bother.

I used the accounts to bot up my main character i have now, yeah yeah.. its illegal to use a 3rd party program, but i wanted my lvl 76 dagger xD

Competitive Guild Wars is where it's at.

Once you've unlocked a good amount of skills for classes, you can do some really great PvP/GvG.
At one point, I was playing it more than NS..=P (and that's PvP only)

Teamwork is key in the game, even more so than NS. Leading a GvG is even more exhilarating than being a commander in NS (although you lack a 4000HP shield aka "the CC")

But yeah, you really need to be in a guild to do much at all.

What's the best way to unlock skills? PvE or PvP? How many skills can you get per hour? I played in team arena with some friends yesterday and didn't even get enough to unlock 1 skill.

    Story mode?
  • SkySky Join Date: 2004-04-23 Member: 28131Members
"Story mode" = PvE (player vs environment), and yes, that's the fastest way to unlock skills if you are just starting out. My recommendation: play through the entire game with whatever character class you want to pvp with, starting in Prophecies (first campaign). You'll unlock many skills for free from skill quests, and you can get through the entire game in ~25 hours of play if you know what you're doing. If you're trying to rush, you can get it done quicker with guildy help.

Anyone here buying Nightfall besides me?
  • KungFuDiscoMonkeyKungFuDiscoMonkey Creator of ns_altair 日本福岡県 Join Date: 2003-03-15 Member: 14555Members, NS1 Playtester, Reinforced - Onos
I will be getting Nightfall as close to release day as my Exam schedule will allow me ;p
  • mrTheftermrThefter Join Date: 2006-10-02 Member: 58053Members
I'm purchasing Nightfall..as soon as I get a job (a given, since I'm taking an ROP class)

Also, if you feel like shelling out $10, you can unlock all skills for a particular profession, or $40 for the entire core set, I believe.

Might also be a good idea to participate in GvG if you're unlocking skills, but don't feel like playing through story mode (provided you HAVE the skills needed participate in GvG)
Gives tons of faction for unlockage by way of priest.
  • SkySky Join Date: 2004-04-23 Member: 28131Members
Don't bother with the buying to unlock skills. If you haven't unlocked enough skills to play high-level pvp, you aren't experienced enough to do so. Only purpose I can see for this is if you buy a second account and want to be able to pvp on both, but don't want to reunlock all the skills.

Once you start gvging regularly, you start unlocking skills really quickly with faction.
