<div class="IPBDescription">I hate myself ATM</div> I just got back from the vet's office I had to put my rat down, he apparently had cancer and lost 1/3 of his body weight. He wasn't eating and he didn't look well at all. Even though it was the best thing, I have to keep telling myself that, I feel I could have done more to save him.

I'm still crying. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    well I'm sure he was suffering, our cat did when it had cancer... at least now there's no pain :(

    You did the best thing you could given the circumstances; you can't ask any more of yourself than that.
    Hindsight is always 100% too, so don't beat yourself up over it.

    There's nothing you could have done. Besides, if he did make it through, there's a good chance he'd just be leading a miserable life due to the after-effects.

    I used to get sad about things like that then I remember I've got 60 more years at least of suffering.

    If it makes you feel <a href='http://www.canceraidfoundation.org/Html/donate.asp' target='_blank'>better</a>, you could <a href='https://www.cancer.org/asp/donate/don_multi_donate.asp?navToScreen=don_1' target='_blank'>donate</a> to a <a href='http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/donate/' target='_blank'>cancer</a> organisation.

    Here's my experience with cancer so far.

    My grandfather on my mother's side died of lung cancer.
    My mom has had basil cell cancer (skin cancer) and melanoma (extremely malignant skin cancer.)
    My dad had basil cell cancer (skin cancer) but in an unrelated event, he died of Glial Blastoma (brain cancer).

    I had a 13 inch 10 year old fish die of cancer too.

    Cancer flipping sucks.

    Edit: Remembered a few more. My mom's boyfriend's first wife died of breast cancer. One of his best friends is now paralyzed due to glial blastoma (brain cancer.) The mother of a good friend of mine from gradeschool has breast cancer.

    i hate when pets die. i had 2 anole lizards that died on me within a year. i sterlized their corpses in alcohol and dried them in salt for a while, then i wrapped them up in first aid bandages and put them in a shoebox and burried them, mummy style.

    Sorry for your loss, Caboose. My own cat of 16 years died earlier in March, so I know how you feel. Losing close pets can be hard, but you do get over it. Give him a nice little burial and such, with some flowers. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
