BrigadierWolfBrigadierWolf Join Date: 2003-05-30 Member: 16876Members, Contributor
<div class="IPBDescription">Pineapple</div> I used this as a test for baking since I was having some problems with the MG-8. Ive solved said problems now But Id like to put this out there for everyone as well.
Its an Old MKII Pineapple grenade. Im putting WIP cause I might do some more work on the texture time permitting.

I started animating it before I realized, yet again, that I cant output to HL, so If anyone wants to throw this on the Default Hand Grenade animations Id appreciate it.

heres a render and Ill have the neccessary files up in a few minutes..

not as much of a fan of this compared with the tampon... i get a very "retro" vibe about it. I really want to see something like an m67 shape grenade in the stylings of brig...

well.. yes, Its an MKII pineapple grenade.. retro is sorta the point.. Unless they started making them again and nobody told me =P

So.. you painted the base colours on this thing and then added the other mats and then baked it into a single texture? About time someone got smart enough to do this. Did you hand paint the spec maps yourself? Also, the renders that you posted were they lighted with anything other than the default lighting or do they show how the baked texture would look like in game?
  • BrigadierWolfBrigadierWolf Join Date: 2003-05-30 Member: 16876Members, Contributor
Default lighting, It should look pretty much just like that in-game.

Ive got the best idea. Wolf gets a job at valvE right? And then when hes assigned main modeller of like, everything we can get him to put secret little easter eggs into the models like the words "Lt.Chicken roxz j00!" on a backface of a gun or something! its the most maniacle, most crazy awesome plan in teh world!!!

Uhm. Nope. I see empty texture space in his maps.

I used to waste a stupid amount of space on textures. Part of the problem was that I did the UV maps in Milkshape so.. well, I dont think I need to point out how horrible MS is at UV mapping. Maya has *much* better tools for laying out UVs, and so theres less wasted space on my maps now.

Please, tell me you didnt map your models in ms3d previously. If you did, you must of felt some serious -pain- >_<

You should add a chrome layer to it for fake spec.

    looks good though.
