It does hold you back tho as you can only do so much in that program. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
nah it doesnt hold you back much for hl1 modelling, you just gotta learn how to fully use it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
Truth. It's fine and dandy for hl1.

great way of putting it. many people use MS3d to clean up models that have been done in some other l33t modelling program, because it allows you to work in raw triangles and with simple tools.

i disagree, you can do anything in MS3d with enough time an patience, indeed it lacks things like booleans to make life easier, but it almost forces you to use good modelling habits and make clean models. i've seen many many many more messy models come out of MAX and Maya than i have come out of ms3d. people get lazy with all the advanced tools and shortcuts (booleans are a classic example, they can mess up a clean mesh in a single fell swoop.)

so <3 ms3d. can't be beat as a simple, powerful modelling program with a low learning curve. i just installed XSI and the interface is worse than MAX. sure its powerful, but the learning curve is extreme. i'd rather stick with ms3d and produce cleaner models in more time than have to screw around with a cluttered UI and produce something lazy and unpolished.
