    Awesome.
Now when I play NS,I know where the fire button is,the change weapon button is,and more importantly where the disconnect subtely cos ur team is losing button is. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That is a good idea indeed, but I'd imagine it would be mainly aimed at the kid end of the market? It just screams 'kid keyboard' to me,but you never know.

At that point, why don't you just get a big touchscreen-display, and use that as a keyboard? It would probably be easier to produce, and you could configure it however you wanted.

I like the enjoyment of pressing down buttons.

its like, would you rather have a controller with buttons you can feel, or press down and hope you pressed it.

Good point, the feel of a button, that visceral, tangible, physical sensation really can't be matched.

Seeing as it's 'merely' a design object for now, I doubt it's for sale.

Seeing as those are also <i>renders</i>, I think it will be some time before we actually see a working version of it.

Anna Ponomaryova´s concept is fantastic.OLED screens are massively expensive, though, especially such tiny full-color ones, so I’d say this is just someone having a good idea―a great idea, actually. But way to expensive to even build a working prototype at the moment.
like the page says ,the 3d render images of Optimus OLED Keyboard were created by modeller Alexey Zalata and visualizer Nikolai Vershinin.

I saw the word Optimus and expected some sort of transformers keyboard mod.

    I am somewhat disappointed.. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Wait why not? Couldn't we have the touch pad split into different regions, each the size of a button? Then we could use it like a normal keyboard, just without the feel of actually pressing down a button.

Right, but we could still touch two keys at the same time. The real problem is sensitivity of the touch pad and how we'd have to hold our hands slightly above the keyboard at all times. Which could drive a guy mad.

There could be small plastic nubs right above the home row keys to rest on maybe?

As for the Touch Pad, I thought you meant having just a keyboard size Touch Pad with the keys on it, like a screen.

Because a per key display is more simple than a painted on image.

The Optimus keyboard does indeed look like the uber pwn.

I don't think I'd buy one though. Even if it comes w/ a load of 'presets' for putting up images for game mappings, I don't use the default config, and thus I'd have to essentially bind my keys twice. And, well, I know where my keys are.

Could definately be handy for Photoshop/3DSMax/Worldcraft/etc though for people who don't have every single shortcut already memorized.
