Abandon Spawn Base?

This is just an idea that popped up right out of my head. The idea was of abandoning the main base altogether and expanding right into an empty hive and utilizing the resources over there. So, you would just abandon your base for awhile and just claim hives off the get-go (create another commander chair at the hive base). Although it would result in a slower start, it could result in the easy expansion of other hives (close proximity) and would prevent the aliens from becoming Onos' <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->

    hmm I did try that once and we got toasted. we run into the skulk rush and none of my marines survived. I think one of the skulks took out 3 of my marines before they could pick up the med packs I dropped all over them. Oh and I didnt build a portal at the base. Bad idea. I think I should have used the COM to scout the hive first and listen for the heartbeat (even though I've just read that and didnt know about it before).
