Ns Mentioned On Penny Arcade

<div class="IPBDescription">(worth one hundred billion points.)</div> Hey everyone,

I noticed that Natural Selection was mentioned yet again on the front page of <a href='http://penny-arcade.com' target='_blank'>Penny Arcade</a>.

PA has mentioned NS before, but it is good to see these guys continue to support it. This kind of publicity can only help the NS community, bringing in more players and fans. I would love to continue rambling on here, but I think Tycho from PA says exactly what I want to:

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->...with a Natural Selection built on modern technology.  I wish those guys the best of luck, and my affection for them is so great that I would perform any service, even unto preordering their nascent title. Such is my dedication.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Keep up the excellent work Flayra & the dev team!

I've always half expected that tycho lurks the NS forums. Alot of thier news items come up cooincidentally at the same time we have a topic pop up in the offtopic forums, and they seem quite congruent with our jargon and lingo.

Wow, I was just coming here to post this. Full clip:

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Long-time readers will recall the enthusiasm with which I urged you toward Natural Selection, an asymmetrical game experience that blends FPS action and strategy. It also emulates Aliens, which is worth (in the carefully tuned schema I employ to rank things) one hundred billion points.
They’ve announced that they’re planning to make a go at making a business of it, with a Natural Selection built on modern technology. I wish those guys the best of luck, and my affection for them is so great that I would perform any service, even unto preordering their nascent title. I first found NS through Penny Arcade. Otherwise, I'd probably not have noticed NS 1.0.

Awesome! And the investors come rolling in...

    Dang, Flay.

If I had a spare £30k kicking around, then you could sign me up for the investor program.

Hmm, now that's another thing to add to my "If I won the lottery, I would..." list.

Give Mr Cleveland all the money he needs to ensure that NS2 is WHAT THE PEOPLE DEMAND!!! (read: includes Babblers, something I was not around to witness...)

Rest assured. If I won the lottery, you would be on the receiving end of some proverbial "phat cash"...

i think we should all vow right now, that if we won the lottery, that we would donate at least $50,000 to UWE. so..., if we all start playing the lottery now, everyday, someone should win really soon

Until then, we can just keep giving Flay ramen money.
I'll probably just start sending UWE a good $40 a week or something.

Congrats, Tycho's always had interesting output about things, and always brought a side to the table you didn't see.
He's very clairvoyant in many topics, and I have a load of respect for him.. but this, this is outrageously cool. Thanks PA guys.

You know what's even better? No one who comes to these boards after reading that PA newspost will create a thread here asking whether or not NS is being ported to Source. Yay! \o/

on a serious note what sort of % return in UWE would one get for such an investment.

I'd guess the share of eventual gross revenue you'd receive would be up for discussion.

    [EDIT]
    [UNSERIOUSNESS]
See, right now, I am going through a dilema. Do I buy me a horn, or do I give Flay a few thousand?

If I get a horn, I could play on the streets and make some money. However, it could take a while, because who plays a tuba on the streets.

If I give Flay monay, it could give him some funding for NS2, ensuring me to be able to play the game. Of course, it wouldn't be that $50k he wants, but it would be a start.

Maybe if I asked the School of Music to give me a cash advance on my grants and scholorships for my entire college career, then I would have $12k to give him. My schooling is mostly paid for already....hmm...
    [/UNSERIOUSNESS]
    [/EDIT]

And yay for spreading the word on NS. Advertising ftw!

[EDIT](I was just making humor before I say how cool it is to have other groups with fanbase spread the word. As much as I love NS, I love my schooling first <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> Sorry to worry you Nem0. Destroyer, if you're serious (and we had such proposals before, so I'm wary), in a word: No. Don't you dare.
There is no reason whatsoever to clog your very personal future with a bet on UWE's success when there are financially significantly more secure entities capable of that.

I think I first heard about NS thru PA, not 100% sure. Anyways, I've e-mailed Tycho before and he's responded, which is cool since PA is so popular, but he still has time to respond to e-mails. His and my tastes coincide on many things, and a big one is at the very mention of some sort of cards being in a game, we become giddy with excitement.

I forgot that written humor needs to be tagged. Sorry man. I edited my post to fix that. I'll still donate a large amount of money if I win the lotto, that I'll promise.
