Hmm..

Recently, Half-Life has been querying all servers that have been created, filter or not. I am aware that this has been brought up many times, however, I would like to see if anything could be done about it, or what people think may or does cause this. Please do not flame this, saying I should have searched. After searching, I could find no solution to this rather annoying quirk.

    dont use the NS shortcut

    use the HL shrtcut with -console at the end and it should update fine

    you should see this at the bottom of update window

    "active filter: NS, <100, dedicated server" or something like that if you see more than 550 servers its not working right

    The problem here is that I do not use the NS shortcut. It makes no difference on my machine. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Oddly enough, it wasn't keeping them a bit prior to when I got this problem. I just figured that all of the servers rebooted.

    I just tested using the default shortcut for NS, and the filters worked... Odd. Hopefully I can resolve this with normal Half-Life.

    If it doesnt save your fav servers it might actually be a currupt file, I forget exactly which file but I think you can find the info floating around on planethalflife or some other HL support site

    I've found that just restarting Half Life (might take a few tries) fixes this problem up good - my guess is that this is being caused by certain WON servers (I've also noticed that every server that does this takes a good 10 seconds to log on to, while properly working servers take a fraction of a second).

    side note, please make a topic (ie errors with updating servers)

    on topic:

    this is a known error, I believe that it has something to do with one of the WON master servers being down currently, so sometimes you will connect to that one and get screwed b/c it won't recognise filters, and sometimes you will hit the right one

    there yah go <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Try using a external browser such as <a href='http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/' target='_blank'>The All_Seeing Eye</a>.

    Thanks for the replies. It does seem to only work at certain times, so the WON net server being down sounds plausable.
