<div class="IPBDescription">the map needs it BADLY!</div> <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/dropship.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

it does need a skin, definitely.
the model itself is completed so you can get the finishd mdl file to skin it.
there is no special idea behind it. only guideline: it should look absolutely unbelieveable.

<!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

this ship is the only model missing in my map ns_source.
thread: <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85956' target='_blank'>ns_source beta release thread</a>
download:<a href='http://www.nostromo-group.de/bilder/ns_source_b33.zip' target='_blank'>ns_source_b33.zip</a>

still not convinced? it will be clearly visible to all players. its a ready room model <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    get rid of those black lines around cockpit. It looks like that part is just to solid (have it blend way more)

    <span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'>WOW!!!</span>

    *faints*

    the skin just has to be more green but this can be changed later. besides that its better than I would have ever imagined. (hope I expressed myself well...)

    wow!

    the windows should like they were made of glass ergo contrast to the rest of the model. the left and the right faces of the window are supposed to be glas, too. sorry, didnt mentioned it. but how shuold the pilot supposed to see where he is landing?
    you could also add some details around the jet intake.
    I would like to see a picture from behind because Im shure you missed the ramp at the rear part <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    and dont forget the details for the landing gear covers. although that thing will hover at the end it still has got some things to stand on <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    edit: erm... when do I get it?
  • RSXRSX Join Date: 2004-08-18 Member: 30703Members
    Gravity check your PM's.
    I'll make the changes later on today.
  • Lt_GravityLt_Gravity Join Date: 2003-04-28 Member: 15909Members
    since rsx seems to have lost interest in even answering my pms I will have to ask another skinner to do the changes or a new detailed skin. I asked kindly and got no response.

    you guys are lucky mapper dont work like this...

    atm it looks like this (sorry for the huge pic):
    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/shuttle_scaling.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    so I would be happy about anybody to do th final job. pre-final release of the map will be this we, just in case you are interested.

    Sry about the absense, i haven't been checking these forums lately.
    I'll start on the skin again soon and should have it finished soon.

    mmmh. Obst sent me the model like about.. uhm, 3-6 months ago. Today I started doodling around with it.
    <img src='http://www.saunalahti.fi/kujap/ship.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    -Nothing is final atm.
    -Only the middle green part is skinned. I have done ~nothing to other parts. So if you want to comment the skin, comment only the middle one. (even though it is not done yet <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
    -It's lacking contrast. I know. <u>It's a wip.</u>
    -The "window"-thingie on the front was merely just a test. I'm going to re-do it from scratch.

    And yes, this is for Grav; Just wanted you to know that you still have hope. <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    sorry coltrane I was rather busy to finish my work. looks pretty cool so far. I like the gun nozzles <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> the sa symbol looks like you are very serious with this model <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    left and right on the angled face should be glass, too. I could punish myself for not smoothing those edges. <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Well I continued skinning it for a little bit, but I wanted your comments before I would continue.
    <img src='http://www.saunalahti.fi/~kujap/NS/ship2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
    As you can see I replaced the window-thingie with a hatch-thingie. It looks horrific.
    Then I noticed that there was a little bit strething visible.
    So I took the liberty to fix the mesh on my own (fixed mesh not applied on that upper picture). <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    <img src='http://www.saunalahti.fi/~kujap/NS/shipmesh.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    I'll get back skinning it within few days.

    P.S: What do you mean, "serious"? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    The white tsa logo looks really out of place, the skin seems really cloudy but it looks cool.

    looks good so far. I like the random symbols underneath the hatch. the details on the skin dont have enough deeth so it looks like a decal <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    however, I dont likw the "hatch idea" like it is atm. I stick with the glass window concept. something like this would be cool:

    <img src='http://mitglied.lycos.de/centercross/ns_source/concept.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    the only way this model doesnt look as flat as it is.

    how much polies it has
  • Lt_GravityLt_Gravity Join Date: 2003-04-28 Member: 15909Members
    to few. seriously, what is so interesting about the polycount as long as details come out in a decent way.

    That's the whole point Gravy...

    If you see something that looks good, but you know that it is for map usage, then you have an even stronger urge to know the PC <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
