Why Must Everyone Suck At Being Gorges?

A rant about my teams
It seems everytime I play a game and go as skulk at the begining. 20 minutes later after multiples kills and deaths I spawn from the 1 hive we have and notice that there is one offense chamber sitting in the middle of nowhere with no protection at all.. So I will just ignore it and hope they are getting some structures up to protect ahives or at least fight marines someplace up, but nope.. they are just placing random chambers and maybe building hives... So I need to go gorge to help out. I will build up walls of lame blocking marines from entering the spawns with Offense,Defense and Sensory chambers (as many as possible for all) webbing in front of them, placing some movement chambers there and doing the same to the other hive's, since all the other gorges did was build hives.. every once in awhile I will spot some good gorges, but it seems very rare. The most I can expect from most is maybe a few hives and like 4 DC/OCs next to each other. Very rarely do I see the right defense that is required.. So I end up playing as gorge and not getting a chance to fight at the end of th egame since no one ever says "we're gonna destroy them now"

Because of this I have a lack of experience, but hey I guess it's better than losing because of bad gorges.

I'm not even gonna touch when people have too many gorges!

When will people learn? there's guides everywhere on this site and I try to help them, but it seems its very rare. I'm not gonna discuss how to do everything right since there is plenty of guides aviable right on this board!

I don't get to have experience at fighting due to this : (

What should I do??? just screw being the gorge and try to attack? that's not the safest thing I can do, but may be the only way I can fight.

Get a tournament team that plays in tournaments

EDIT :: yes I am looking for a good team that plays this as well as I do and will suceed in tourneys and such.

    Credentials ::
One of the best gorges (IMO)
A very decent commander, too lazy to write guides
One of the best skulks (IMO)
Simply...a really really good player all around.

Its unavoidable, people suck, theres always bad people no matter what activity it is. Try to teach em, I don't mind bad players, but they refuse to learn or are just plain negative whne you try to help, then thats bad

I always find it amusing that n00b Asians think the game is simpler than CS and that it'll be so easy to jump in. (I'm in Hong Kong, so US servers are 200+ ping, while local servers are 15-60). I've seen probably ten times somebody come in and shout 'How to play? ^_^', expecting everyone to stop what they're doing and walk them through the complexities and strategy we've been memorizing for three weeks. Of course, the n00bs think that, since one person's going gorge, everyone should. I've ended up with an 8v8 game where I'm the only skulk, and everyone else is a gorge. And then they complain about 'resource so slow', and that the marines seem to be doing so much better, blah blah blah, repeat ad nauseam.

Also, it's a bit hard to command when your troops don't know your language.

Gorges are the class that doesn't kill people (often) so they're like Commanders...they take some skill and more practice to learn.

i dunno.. i think gorge is kinda easier at first, since you arent commanding.. and then the difficulty curve rises steeply as you try and comnvince teammates to not do any of the stupid things you wouldnt be doing if you werent gorge because they're hopeless

yeah i love being the skulk who gets to run aound and bite and rack up teh kills and who eventually gets to kill a CC or Spawn portal..but alas i am the one my clan sees as the "cute gorgee" only because i talk non stop on mic and know all the maps. its not hard..i usually try to be nice and assist those of the guys who try to do the right thing and help the team by showing them how to buld and where to build on a map..it just takes patience and some courtesy. and the feeling i get when i read " <3 boobs" it just melts my heart to see (3)NSPlayer type that

I played a 6-on-6 game last night as aliens. About ten minutes into the game there was me, the lone skulk) and everybody else on the team had changed to gorge. One skulk, five gorges. Yelling at them did no good as they all said they were waiting for resources to build stuff, even when I explained that the resources would now be spread so thinly that building anything would take *hours*. So it was me trying to keep the marines busy all by myself while a squad of idiot gorges were ambling about admiring the scenery and dropping OCs in random places, getting shot and then evolving straight back to gorge again. By the time the heavy marines started popping up we have
    one hive
    no useful defence
    lots of certain doom

The gorges on my team last night (all three of them) went DMing thoughout the level. Competing over who could kill the most marines.

Needless to say, we lost our first hive (and second, and third) because we had no structures other than a couple of resource towers, and scattered OTs used to attack marines.

Yesterday was a horrible NS day for me, lol. Marine teams who ran out as soon as they got equipped, aliens who hid on top of the hive the entire game, or were AFK the whole game, etc.

    Oh well ...

I'm a good gorge, not the best but i know what im doing. Like I said on another post, I was playing on ns_hera. Joined aliens, they already got three hives...nothing else to do you say...WRONG and WRONG!
They left 2 hives undefended ( well, there was a MC and SC and resource tower but that's all.
When are people going to learn ( like you said, zoda.) that defending hives are critical to win a game. Well there were fades and onos attacking there main base, but some wandering marines that escapes can find a hive and kill it with an HMG. I go gorge as usual, build up defenses and webs, go to ventilation 3c hive. Build up defenses and resource node on catwalk. Experienced some attacks beneath hive and above hive. I only lost 1 OC ( was healing them ) by a HA marine with HMG. Luckiky didn't saw the two other OC's next node while he was firing hive. I was cloaked, so he couldn't see me. He died. Destroyed smaaall outpost with my babblers, last marine killed by teammate and here it is... Don't want to make myself as a hero, anybody with some idea of what to do can do this . But leaving 2 hives undefended...really bad idea .

    I'm an offensive gorge (OG).
After making sure the base is properly defended, I'll head out. I'm the guy who finds a firefight, builds defense towers around the corner, then put an offensive tower or three right in the middle.

Unfortunately, I've also anchored a few Onos in my day (oops )

Brew, i love gorgs like you, i swear noone helps as much as those gorgs that pin marines with ocs.

The mod is brand new, cut people some slack, jesus. Playertesters and devs aside, everyone is new at the game. Some people dont catch on to games in under a month, take it easy. Give it time. Or hop into one of the eighty seven CAL one week magic clans.

Good point Sodum, I just wish I had the chance to play as other aliens and still have protected hives.. I have maybe 10 minutes to do so since usually the marines are being destroyed when I am done defendign all hives.
