<div class="IPBDescription">The aftermath</div> Game summary:

In the beginning it looked like a dead end loss for the humans, lynching off one human at a time with almost no clue how to properally detect wolves. The wolves took a great opportunity to launch Comprox and BadKarma against each other making it look like at least one of them was wolves. In the end the wolves had failed to vote off the psychic - Sky who finally came out and announced his role, eventually voting off one wolf at a time finally resulting in a human victory.

MVP goes to Sky for the use of his Psychic abilities to turn a loss into a win.

The players and roles:
<span style='color:green'>Necrotic (Won the game)</span>
<span style='color:green'>im lost (Wolfed on Night 3)</span>
<span style='color:green'>Nil IQ (Lynched on Day 1)</span>
<span style='color:green'>urinalcake (Wolfed on Night 1)</span>
<span style='color:blue'>Comprox (<b>GUARDIAN</b>, Lynched on Day 2)</span>
<span style='color:green'>BadKarma (Lynched on Day 3) </span>
<span style='color:red'>Renegade (<b>WOLF</b>, Lynched on Day 6) </span>
<span style='color:red'>The Necroscope (<b>WOLF</b>, Lynched on Day 5)</span>
<span style='color:blue'>Sky (<b>PSYCHIC</b>, Won the game)</span>
<span style='color:green'>Condizzle (Wolfed on Night 5)</span>
<span style='color:green'>Pithlit (Wolfed on Night 6)</span>
<span style='color:red'>UnderDOG (<b>WOLF</b>, Lynched on Day 4)</span>
<span style='color:blue'>Petco (<b>SEER</b>, Wolfed on Night 4)</span>
<span style='color:green'>SwiftSpear (Wolfed on Night 2)</span>

Lastly, Comprox is helping me to prepare something for our game winners. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

You guys can discuss the game here now, also - #ns-twg on irc.gamesurge.net is now unlocked and unrestricted for anyone who wants to join, whether you played in this game or not.

EDIT: Fixed IRC channel name. #ns-twg not #twg-ns
EDIT2: Unlocked the channel, thought it wasn't locked but it still was. Should be open now.
EDIT3: GACK! The IRC channel IS unlocked now. I checked it myself.

    My analysis of twg:

First, the wolves kill off urinalcake. This was obviously random, there was no information to work with at that point.

Then, the first day everyone decides to kill off Nil IQ. I thought that was pretty stupid. No one thought he was a wolf, so it didn't make sense to kill him off. I sent him a PM a couple of days later through the forum to ask why he never showed up, but I didn't get a response. Swiftspear shows himself to be very talkative, with myself, Comprox, and Bad Karma also being pretty talkative.

So, the wolves killed off Swiftspear. Swiftspear was the obvious wolf target, but Comprox (our guardian) thought Swiftspear was a wolf trying to waste the guardian's effort.

Before Swiftspear died, he convinced me (and a few others, apparently) that Comprox was a wolf. This was unfortunate, because we ended up killing off our guardian. During this day, Sky told me that he was the psychic, and he would learn a lot based on whether Comprox was a wolf or not. He also said it didn't matter whether Bad Karma or Comprox died, he would learn what he needed either way. I didn't understand that he saw them as being on opposite sides, and that one of them "had to be a wolf". When Comprox died, he told me Comprox wasn't a wolf, and that's when I trusted that Sky was the psychic.

During the night, I was killed off by the wolves. I really was surprised by this. Within two hours of my death, I had chatted with Comprox and Swiftspear, and I learned quite a bit. Petco was the seer (Comprox learned this before he was killed, and he had planned to protect Petco). He had checked Bad Karma and Condizzle, and they were both human (along with Comprox, who was already dead). Necrotic was human. Comprox discovered this because he basically told Necrotic that he was the guardian, and Necrotic responded by changing his vote away from Comprox.

So, I knew that Petco was the seer, I trusted that Sky was the psychic, and I knew that Necrotic, Bad Karma, and Condizzle were human. That left Pithlit, UnderDog, Renegade, and The Necroscope as werewolves. I figured that Pithlit and UnderDog couldn't both be wolves, because Pithlit voted for UnderDog on the first day when UnderDog already had votes. That meant that Renegade and The Necroscope were definitely wolves, plus either Pithlit or Underdog.

During the day, Bad Karma was killed. This wasn't a surprise to me at all. Bad Karma and Comprox drew suspicion because they were talkative early on, so they were killed by humans during the day. The talkative people also made the wolves nervous, which is why Swiftspear and I died during the night. So, all of our active people were out of the game, and it seemed all conversation was sapped from the game.

During the night, Petco was killed. To my knowledge, there wasn't any particular reason for this. Now the seer was gone, and I thought it was game over for the humans, since I thought only Petco had enough information to bring all the humans together.

During the next day, all of the humans somehow banded together for a kill on UnderDog. I was very concerned that Pithlit might be the wolf instead of UnderDog, and I kept worrying about that, until Freak83 came on and didn't announce that the game was over. What happened to create the unity? Were there a lot of pm's taking place?

Anyway, during the day, Condizzle drew way too much attention, so the wolves had to kill him during the night. I would have killed off Pithlit if I were the wolves. Then again, that was assuming that the humans knew that a wolf had just died, so the other humans would know that Pithlit was human. I imagine I assumed too much there.

Next day, Sky has it all figured out, because he knows that a wolf just died. He knows he can trust Pithlit because he made the kill vote, and he figures it is safe to trust Necrotic because he joined in. For the first time in the game, a good, solid argument is made to support a point. It convinces Necrotic, and now only one vote is needed to seal the unity of the humans and a likely human victory. (Sky, I have a question to you. You said that I trusted Pithlit in your argument. Was that made up, or did I somehow indicate that to you? I didn't trust him until UnderDog was dead.) This forces the wolves to react for a change. The Necroscope makes a vote against Sky in response to Sky's vote, so it doesn't really draw any suspicion. Renegade comes on and makes a strong counterargument, and joins The Necroscope in voting for Sky. This leaves Pithlit's vote to be the one to decide the direction of the game, and he votes for The Necroscope, praying that it's the right choice. Luckily for him it was, and the humans live on.

This leaves Renegade in a desperate situation. He chooses to kill Pithlit. Clearly he had to leave Sky alive, since Sky was the only other person that might be suspected as a wolf, and his death would mean that Renegade's death was guaranteed.

During the day, Sky and Renegade vote for each other almost immediately, as expected. Necrotic, after a long period of internet problems, votes for Renegade. With all of the wolves dead, Sky and Necrotic finally get to leave the island.

By the way, I typed this up before this thread was opened, that's how I posted something so long so quickly.

Here's something that really needs to be emphasized, that I didn't cover in my previous post. For the humans to win, communication is very important. It allows the humans to start trusting each other, and then the wolves have to start communicating or they will stand out. If they do join in the conversations, they have a chance of screwing up and revealing the fact that they are a wolf, which can't happen if no one is talking.

    Remember, <u>communication is key</u>.

About that, I'm looking for some input from our players.

I thought about this during the game and I already know Renegade's oppinion on it. But the European timezone's obviously puts a strain on communication. What I want to know is, is it too big a problem to have European's and North American's playing in the same TWG? Would it be a big help to have two TWG's running, one for each timezone? (Euro TWG would start at I, this one would count as North American I)

Or is it a problem, but not one that's big enough to have to worry about having two different divisions for?

The rest of your views of the events are basically exactly how I see things as going down. I honestly thought that either Comprox or BadKarma was a wolf; that's why I said, "It doesn't matter who goes". Whoops. <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo--> Well, I'd say I redeemed myself at the end. ^_^

One thing I'm confused about is how I was lucky enough to have Condizzle and imlost figure out that I was the psychic, but neither Renegade nor The Necroscope figured it out....or at least did anything about it. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> I mean, I talked to a lot of people one on one in irc, including two of the wolves....I got lucky, I think.

And I don't think having two TWGs at once is really necessary, and it'd probably be confusing. PMs and forum posts don't require users to be in the same timezone, and idling in irc will save you the conversation, just maybe a little later than other people. Keep it all together, imo.

Renegade was very impressive as self-appointed "Pack Leader" and after a very
rough and random start we got our act together... mostly <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(Thats not sarcasm by the way, he was genuinely <b>very</b> good at planning ahead
    and keeping us in check.)

The thing about being a wolf was that had to watch your words very very very carefully!
If you said something entirely random it could be mis-understood and before you know it you're
being accused of being a wolf. (Which may be true but you don't want people knowing
    that do you?)

3/4 days into this game we (the Wolves) were finding ways to twist peoples words
and turn them against it each other... which worked well! But again, it was difficult to
do without arrousing suspicion and people, quite literally, yelling wolf.
(See the Comprox + BadKarma event ;-) )

The one (very minor) problem I had with the game, was staying awake up til
anything from mid-night to 3am (GMT) to chat to other players. Obviously this had to be
done because, for some reason, the quieter players were auto-dubbed as wolves.

But there's nothing we can do about that so consider me pleased and proud to
    be part of the game.

Yeah, its funny we never found out that sky was the physic, for most of the game we thought it was codizzle, and we kept him alive because he would keep seeing that they were killing only humans.

I also found it to be an interesting twist that Karma and Comprox were the two main suspects for a good deal of the game. As far as I know, we the wolves didn’t exactly plan that, it just sort of fell into place.

edit: Yes, we did some twisting of the dialog, but it still felt pretty lucky.

Also, just out of interest, Petco and Comprox, would you guys post whom your looked at/protected each of the nights?

Either, gg guys, I had alot of fun.

This has been great guys, you may not believe this but my gameplan was to keep myself pretty much to myself as, no offence, I don't trust any of you. I think my job makes me automatically suspicious of everybody around me. Handily, keeping my head low seems to have saved me the wrath of the wolves and oila, humankind triumphs over the denizens of the night once more.

Also many apologies to everyone who PM'd me on irc and didn't get a reply, most of you were messaging at about 1-2am my time and by the time I wake up and check IRC you've all buggered off. I may have been trying to keep my head down but I'm not rude ^_^

Well for me, once I realized that neither Comprox nor BadKarma were wolves, I figured that UnderDOG had to be a wolf. He was the only other one I had any qualms about, and Condizzle if I remember correctly was almost positive that he was a wolf, so we both kinda agreed to vote for him. Necrotic and Pithlit I think just put their votes into place when they saw us vote so quickly, I suppose....

Pithlit, was that little birdy comment directed at me? I don't recall messaging you, but I was almost afraid one of the wolves would take that to mean that I was directing your vote. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'll be hosting that one as well, (the third one will probably be open for someone else to host).

I'm thinking at this point of starting the signups thread on Monday as the forum activity seems to go dead over the weekend. It will be in Offtopic but I'm not telling you what time I'm posting it at. It will be first come first serve.

Comment from the sidelines here. This was incredibly enjoyable to watch, both all the speculation as well as Freak's excellent storytelling. I must admit I was rootin' for the wolves kinda, because I like endings like that, but nevertheless my congratulations go to the humans for turning such a seemingly certain defeat into a victory. Too bad we didn't get to see the Guardian save somebody, I'm sure Freak could have turned that into a memorable moment.

A question to the gamemaster here, by the way: Is the identity of the Guardian revealed if he successfully defends somebody from wolf attack, or does he continue to operate from the shadows?

No the identity of the gaurdian is never revealed. This is expecially important as he is not allowed to defend himself during the nights. The only reason you would ever tell anyone you are the gaurdian is to bait votes via PM, because if it ever gets out to the wolfs you are dead, no if's and's or but's about it.

Yah, on the day I was about to die, I finally messaged Hodge and flat out told him I was the guardian, not using the actual word. And if he was human and wanted them to survive, it would be in his best interest to change his vote.

    If I didn't I was dead.
If he was a wolf, I was dead anyways.
Even if (and he was) Badkarma a human, killing off a regular human over a guardian is a better choice <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I think I was the little birdy Pithlit was talking about. I messaged him saying "Vote for Underdog" and thats it. I didnt elaborate on the Petco conspiracy with him because i couldnt really trust him. Next time i gotta shaddup. Fun stuff though, looking forward to the next one. What a game <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

My first congratulations goes to the humans for their suprise win (and to Sky for being so crafty). I didn't really expect it to come out this way, but then I never really planned to win anyways. What truely defeated me in this game was the subterfuge neccesary to win, and as I'm sure you already know subterfuge isn't my strong point.

Another thing that defeated me was my reputation on the forums going into the game. I know for a fact that atleast 3 people suspected I was a wolf from day one thank to my reputation (That and Qwest DSL West raping my bandwidth on a regular basis).

But I truely had fun. I don't know if I'll sign up for round 2, seeing as everyone will think I'm a wolf regardless (most likely). But what can I say, I just love being a <b>Big Bad Wolf</b> XD

<b>This is a long post, you can read my first paragraph then skip to I said "I'm glad sky won it for humans" and read till the end of my post or you can skip this post all together, but this is coming from the seer</b>
Well this was fun <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->. Also you see what happened (in the middle of the game) was when comprox died, I thought of a plan is to guess who's a human who wasn't a human. I pretended that I used my seer powers on Necrotic, and asked him to ally with me. Well it worked out perfectly <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> . After Necrotic believed me, I thought he was a human for sure. Then right after badkarma died (it's when I lost hope for humans), I figured out who were wolves! I figured it right, but I kinda of gave up still, and I went to sleep, then I died (I knew I was going to die, I was soo close to giving condizzle who were wolves and who weren't).

I figured underdog was a wolf when he voted for badkarma or something (And it's his post). After I died, I kinda thought wolves would have won, but humans still had a chance. I made a plan that gave humans a high chance of winning, even if I died. The good thing about finding one wolf, and find lots of humans, it's easy to tell who are the rest of the wolves, and who are the rest of the humans as well.

I asked everyone who I knew who was a wolf, to vote against the same person, obviously the wolves would be trying to lead a vote against a human, and it usally was the human that I knew was a human, so I told them to vote for one of the people that voted against the person.

Well luckly sky won the game for humans, and he was doing my job <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->. I was going to reveal that I'm a seer just before the night I died, but I didn't expect badkarma to die (I think I told everyone to vote for underdog, but keep the votes even, one thing that made badkarma die, was the fact that the night came sooner than what was said, if I knew that night was going to start soon, I would have told Necrotic to vote against underdog and make it even).

I'm glad Sky won it for the humans <insert some smiley face here>.

Also I always made it seem like if they don't trust me (the humans I found) that wolves are going to win and humans will lose, that always worked. Some people didn't completely believe me (I would tell the person I knew was a human but would never use the word "seer" when I first introduce myself), but it worked great .

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->

Were there a lot of pm's taking place?<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> I was killed because I was saying a few things in IRC that might have made it obvious I knew something <insert non smiley face here>. I knew underdog was a wolf, early and badkarma was in trouble at a point so I told everyone I knew who was a human to vote against underdog, but make sure you don't all vote at once as in vote when badkarma has more votes. I shouldn't have told everyone that (not to wait till badkarma got more votes), but meh. Badkarma died, and if you read my long post, you would know I nearly gave up after badkarma died.

As for me, hosting this game was incredibly fun, watching you guys try to outplay and outstrategize each other. It was a neutral point of view and I guess I had special privilages compared to other spectators, in the aspect of knowing what role everyone had. I've always enjoyed creating stories, I think this is possibly one of the first one's I've actually finished, and I'm looking forward to making more.

Coming into starting TWG, I can honestly say that I really didn't know anyone on the forum except for a few people I play NS with who post here (urinal-cake <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ). So hosting this has not only been fun, but it's given me a chance to get to know some of you guys through the forum and IRC.

Anyway, dispite a couple of small flaws, I feel that TWG I has been a great success, and hopefully TWG will have a bright and prosperous future here on the NS forums. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Oh yeah... also - Everytime I saw Renegade post I would see his little demon avatar and be thinking "OMG his avatar is so evil! How can they not suspect him as a wolf just for that!" Completely pointless I know but funny nonetheless.

Yeah, I always had a feeling my Avatar had a hand in my undoing. I should really change it, but I'm evil so it fits <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Actually, the first second I joined IRC I jokingly said that you were a wolf because you had 'DOG' in your name. Wierd huh?

I was glad that I played this. I really got to know some of the people on here. It makes me feel like less of a newbie. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
