Run Like Hell

In pub svr i had no ideas how to face against 4 or even 7 fades in 5-6 min.
1 Lv weapon and armor versus 4 fade in a row. What u can do is sit and pray.

They can clear out ur locked-hive easily.
They can clear out all ur rt nodes easily.
They can rape out ur marines easily.
After a few min hunt , onos out and "Game Over Man"

What the hell. You dun even stand a chance to live.
12 vs 12 , 60% of aliens team are fades, onos, lerk.

Any ideas for this ?
(armor 3 rush and W3 rush , ...well not work at all, cuz of 0 coop.)

"Guns don't kill people..., I DO!"

Block them, focus fire, get bigger guns.

Make sure you keep killing their rt's

12vs12 = Marines SHOULD win. Unless the alien team is kicking some serious booty they wont have fades for a LONG time.

With 12v12, just have like 6 marines go kill alien nodes right away. There's no way aliens can unlodge 6 marines at an rt with skulks only.

With 12 aliens sharing the res of 1 RT, it will take a LONG time untill fades are out.
• AmbrosekAmbrosek Join Date: 2003-12-06 Member: 24018Members
i had no ideas and that s my POINT
12 aliens share a few rt but within a few min, 4-6 fades come out with DC/Sc/Mc , or even 2 hives.
These situation always happen to me.
1-3 fades are piece of cake.
But dozens of them, well really kick ****.They **** me off too.
So far the quality of marines in pub are usually sux (newbie remix noob)
Remember, , fades come out when ur team only got lv 1 or 2 armor or w.

By the 5-6 min mark, marines should have atleast weapon 2 and armor 1, with resources for shotguns to spare. And like the others said, pressure their RTs hard. If you let them cap half the map, then you will always lose. Don't waste time building turrets in hives, camp your RTs, kill theirs, etc.

I dun think u guys are newbie, but ur words show me that u misunderstand the "sense" of pub svr marines.
usually they wont follow ur wp.
They like rambo
They will stay at base and wait for weapons(if u gave them 1 sg or hmg, well u re doom)

U want them to camp the rt? well mostly they just want to have fun, killing a few skull and thats all. Win or lose seems no different to those "pub marines"

They only chance u can win maybe there s a freak pro in the team, 1 on 5

Pub svr players usually lack of "sense"
most of them are newbie+ noob
They have no ideas about "teamwork" and "orders"
"camp RT/ Hive" are not sutable in public svr since players in there just want to have some fun (kill a few skull )

So what can u do for this? ( quick fade, high in numbers)

u need charisma & leadership qualities to bring out the tiger in people.

heck, they're wasting their time playing an online game? of course they want to WIN, they just dont know how to by themselves.

If you're playing on a team with a bunch of scrubs and the alien team actually goes higher lifeforms instead of OC in the hive, there's only one possible way to survive....

Most of the time on a pub (especially with 12 players on your team), chances are, you will have a good player who knows how to play as a team. Chances are, as well, he is a good shot. Have him take down their res nodes, and generally harrass them. Have the other semi-good people work as a team, sieging hives or building res nodes. Have the other kids who never work as a team just walk around, let them have fun, maybe they'll get a bullet in a skulk.
Or simply play on good servers, or join a clan

Meh, its a pub. Dont sweat it.

As for fades, try working your strat around the fades. IE rushing armour and HMGs, then medspam your boys. If they all rush fade then killing them will cripple their game. Thats a lot of res gone very quick, and chances are that they'll not have enough to recover, nor will anyone have saved for more hives.

Assuming you can keep their res down and pressure the hive while your res flows in, you shouldnt do too badly.

This all of course assumes the marines can shoot and follow waypoints. Many dont. If this happens, think of the game more as a fun exercise in stress relief.
• TOmekkiTOmekki Join Date: 2003-11-25 Member: 23524Members
actually i have a suspicion that part of the reason why marines are so easy prey to fades is the lack of medspam/support from the comm.

too many comms just drop a few guns then sit back and watch the fades wear out the marines.

fast weapon upgrades and fierce medspam can bring fades down pretty quick.

if that fails, get cats and down the hives with pg rushes one by one.

Tell the server to not stack aliens

Seriously in a 12v12 game marines have a huge advantage.

The only way I can see the aliens having "dozens" of fades by 5-6 mins is if that server has the "giveres" plug-in, in which case I'd go to anotehr server.

To kill Fades:

1) Start upgrading the Armory by 2 mins at latest (lately I upgrade it at 30 seconds) because HMGs pwn Fades.

2) Get at least level 1 armor.

3) LEvel 2 weapons i preferred, but with HMGs level one should be ok for a little bit.

4) Drop structures to block Fade's escape

5) Make sure you have marines who can shoot. Otherwise, game over anyways.
• AkumaAkuma Join Date: 2002-11-18 Member: 9219Members, Constellation
I've seen a devastating comm before who rushed HMGs and catpacks then teched armor 2. You wouldn't beleive the cries from the alien team of "WTH speedhack!" when 5 marines with catpack active unlease their HMGs point blank into a fade.

Heck the 1 onos came around the corner once and quickly turned back as he realized there was ALOT of pain for him waiting.
• ChurchChurch Meatshield grunt-fodder // Has pre-ordered NS2 Join Date: 2002-12-31 Member: 11646Members, Constellation
I have't toyed with catpacks before. I should try that.
• AkumaAkuma Join Date: 2002-11-18 Member: 9219Members, Constellation
I've seen catpacks do wonders for marines who are having to defend a position. Watch MT and when something is almost there drop a few catpacks in the group. If its anything bigger then a skulk it'll probably either run off or be reduced to something smaller then a skulk.

Also people underestimate that 20 res upgrade from the armory of the grenade. For every single marine to get a grenade when they spawn can be rather handy thing to flush out some camping aliens if the guy has cover.

Find a better server.

Seriously. I've not played larger servers so I can't suggest a good 12v12, but look around the boards for suggestions good servers. Or PM me and I'll give you the IP to a few I play on that I find the teamplay pretty great.

- Don't do lockdowns -- they suck
- Upgrades are always a priority -- GET THEM FIRST GOD DAMNIT
- Tell your marines to stop sucking
- Get more nodes on the map and kill theirs.
- Harass the hive.

ar ha, cata are great.
But this is not my point.
Mostly those freaking aliens got plenty of teamwork.
But marines, to hell of them.
They cant shoot.
They cant Run.
They cant hear any stuff.
They sux.
What u can depend on is a couple of **** marines with god sake aimming skill.
But in some larger game we cant depend on 1, or 2 single marines to win. Since aliens got "Dozens"

Fade is a tough problem.
They ripe ur base (We better titlie them as veteren. At least not a newbie.)
They aviod ur advance.
They clear ur Rt nodes.
Remember, how often u can put 4-11 mariens to stop a single fade?
They cant shoot! medpack spam is totally waste since u re lack of rt( They re much faster than ur thought.)
Turret lock hive sux, i wont use it again.*

No ideas how to manage a group of "jerk"with no teamwork
• ChurchChurch Meatshield grunt-fodder // Has pre-ordered NS2 Join Date: 2002-12-31 Member: 11646Members, Constellation
You don't manage that kind of group. You get out of the chair, and then find anotehr server with better marines.
• EggmanEggman Join Date: 2004-09-05 Member: 31423Members
That must be an exaggeration. I mean, sure, you get marine teams that absolutely suck, but not every single time. There's a better server out there for sure, if that's what you keep getting.
Aliens are certainly not invincible. Watch what a good comm does and learn from it. It takes a while to become a good commander... I can't say I am one myself but I am doing my best to learn.
• AmbrosekAmbrosek Join Date: 2003-12-06 Member: 24018Members
yOU GOT POINT MAN.

A good command should handle all kind of situation.
And this is usually some "common one"

A group of marines which low in quality versus a group of aliens with unknown standard.

in 12v12 there shouldn't be that many fades unless u let them have the whole map's rts or something.

try rushing advanced armory...lots of fades just get scared by the sound even though it is actually only w0 or w1.
• AmbrosekAmbrosek Join Date: 2003-12-06 Member: 24018Members
so i should get "adv armory" and giveup "the armor rushing"
or "rush w3" and giveup "the adv armory" ?

Or it is

"Game Over Man" ?

Aliens with extrem teamwork are almost "undefeatable".

No, even mediocre marines can win against a highly skilled alien team.

Give me the IP of your server you play on, if it's in the US, it'd be a great challenge for me.

1:USF server (**** map support)
2:TW (Taiwan sux, u break the ruel they kick ur ****. But they got extrem teamwork.
3:Sing (mostly pro inside. lack of skills are not require in this server.)
4:USA (quite famous )

go and have a try for 12 vs 12. or even.... 16 vs 16

One way to get marines to push their rts is always have them moving. When you say "Go to <blank> hive and kill any rts you find on the way" They feel important, and do it. If you have a really good player, send him off alone early game towards their hive, and roam around there, impeading their movement from there hive. Give him Ammo, Give all of your marines ammo and health when they need them. This usually leads to happy marines, and ones that listen. Having the marines 'camp' a certain area is usually not a good idea when you want to keep the attention of your team. What i do in huge games like 10v10 or 12v12 is send a couple marines each direction and just cap as many rts on the oposite sides of the map. Usually, the aliens are not quick enough to get to the other side of the map to counter this, and you can usually upgrade your armory, and armor 1 before they get any of those RTs down. after that, just keep sending marines back over there to recap them. They will feel important when they 'rambo' over to those rts.
