------- Tired Of "noobs" In Ns Games? -------

<div class="IPBDescription">Follow these easy steps to recovery...</div> <b><span style='font-family:Times'><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>Tired of noobs in NS games? Follow these easy steps to recovery:</span></span></b>

<u>1- You were a noob once</u>, so when you feel like cussing at them, breath deeply and offer a helpful point of wisdom to the noobie. They may ignore you and still go "one hive no upgrade Onos" three times in that game, however just like a housepet they will eventually learn, or go back to playing de_dust for the millionth time. Both ways we all win in the longrun.

<u>2- Suround yourself with team players.</u> Join a clan, perferably one that smurfs alot (Smurfing avoids the people who cry about clan stacking). Play where your clan plays. Play on the same team your clan does. Play in matches with them. You can enjoy your NS more with team players, so suround yourself with a team. I advise against playing "PUG" games, but other people I know swear by them, so you can try to arange a game in IRC channel #nspug on gamesurge.net (note: NSPUG is officaly dead but people still setup pugs on there own servers just like the old days). All these options will improve your teamwork level, so clan-up and just keep saying "Woo Saw" tell the noobie pain fades into a memory. Just keep in mind while your getting owned by all those super leet CAL vetrean Clan players playing in the high skill level games, that without noobies on the server your gonna have to step-up your own game.

<u>3- No game is perfect.</u> No matter where you go, no matter who is on your team there will always be problems. Play hard and when all hope seems lost play harder. If your the truely great player you claim to be, lead the new players by exsample. Don't call them stupid or yell, becouse no one likes to be treated that way. Comunicate, if you are freindly and explain game stratigies to new players you have a higher chance of gaining their trust. If you talk smack to them and call them noobie, then don't be mad when they "get even" by building sensory chambers, go onos for the third time, or refuse to climb out of the comchair untell the turrets have been planted for a bumper crop. <b>Lead the noobies</b>, they are tomorrows elite players, they just need time and your guideance. Sure teaching people every day isn't always fun, just keep in mind that "noob" your teaching may be on your team next game, and the helpful tips you give him may make all the difference in that close game. Wisdom is useless if you don't use it.

<u>4- Some "noobies" will never get it...</u> This is true. NS is not just a first person shooter. NS gameplay is dynamic and there is a steep learning curve. Not every player is cutout to play NS. Some players will never improve, and however much you try to help them they will ignore you. My advise after playing NS for 3 years is this - ignore the noobies that refuse to listen or leave that server, otherwise if your like me you will windup cussing or breaking stuff, and buying new keyboards/monitors can get expensive (trust me I know).

<b>Congradulations, You have now sucessfuly completed the first official "Fangs NS Therapy session"</b> You are healed my friend.

Now go school those noobies.

Heh, how do I get into a clan? I've been pubbing a lot, and I never really experienced clanplay.

Try #findnsclan on Gamesurge. If you live in Europe, you can go in #naturalselection on Quakenet. Usually there are recruiting clans advertised in the topic. Or you can use the clan recruitement forum. If I'm not mistaken, there are several clans looking for members there now.

My recipe for great games : always join an advanced pub server , with unchained chambers if possible , when the server has 10-14 players. Notice the playing habits of its regulars so that you get to know them better and cooperate easier.

It would be so much enjoyable to play if these newcomers would read the manual. I know its old and bad but still, you know what you do and you dont need to harass your whole team by: "whats that smog there coming from the floor!!!"

The death of #nspug, the birth of a new community.
    Tuesday, December 14, 2004

After years of supplying the NS community with competitive style games, NSpug owner Titanium decided to pull PUGbot and take the servers with him to Counter-Strike:Source.  The reason he cited for his decision was the lack of NS players and clans.  #Nspug has served the competitive community amazingly well and for a time, seemed to be the final string holding together competitive play. There have been talks about a new pug community, and one has decided to give it a try.

NSpickup is run by Dirm from the clan Obscure and he has big dreams for his channel.  He already has a few pug operators but is looking to start hiring a larger staff very soon, most likely when he gets all of his servers up and running.  At the time of writing, nspickup is currently using a few donated private servers as their pug servers.  Pickupbot, an essential feature mirror of Titanium's PUGbot, is up in full swing and so far has done an outstanding considering the small amount of time for testing compared to the months of refinement pugbot received.  We are all anxious to see what this new pug community can produce.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    This can be found here:<a href='http://esports.ampednews.com/?page=articles&id=3392' target='_blank'>Dead pug</a>

As I said NSPUG is Dead...
But thank you for pointing out the new location for hot steamy PUG action. Many NS Players wil find it helpful i'm sure. I was not aware of this new channel as I stated above I am not fan of Pick Up Games. To many bad experiances but thats just me. I'm sure that it can be fun as many of my friends PUG. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Nice post fangs, I would say that a lot of top NS players could take some of this to heart. I have seen guys lego and even that nublet grep take new players and whip them into shape as commander. I have once in my life soloed an onos as an LMG marine, and it was the dude that had gone no upgrade onos earlier in the game. The more elder players let people know what is kosher in a game of NS, The better.

    Because you can't spell
    EDUCATION

    without
    TIOCU...

And we all know what TIOCU stands for!

    and with that I sleep

I like to split up new players into 2 categories: "noobs" and "newbs".
Noobs are the players you <b>don't</b> want to have. They might or might not be new, but they don't follow the basic principles of NS, or any other team game. They don't play as a team; don't listen to their commander; or wreck the game, despite being told not to. They reject all and any advice from fellow players, and "play their own game".
Newbies are new players, who don't know the game well, probably won't be able to kill much, but they are OK players to have. Despite their newness to the game, they play like they are supposed to - they listen to their teammates, take their suggestions into account, and they <b>will</b> get better.
Patience with newbs; let them get better. Big pointy stick with noobs; make them grow up, or go back to playing awp_map.

(all this is coming from a player who just commanded a game with 3 players sitting in a useless vent and TDing each other, 2 constantly asking for shotties, 1 getting res nodes, and 1 jumping into the pit of death non-stop.)

i remember when i was a noob, a guy spent 2 hours teaching me what to do. I have repaid the favor many times. For example today i helped a nsplayer for 2 hours, and at the end i got him to say "Wow, Ns is a great game".

when i was noob, NOBODY helped me. i spent a month learning how to play on my own. even though, i have helped numerous nubcaek's learn how to play this game. i havent seen any nubs asking for help in-game recently though.

when i first started playing, i read the manual first so i didn't really get into ppl's way. But there was this awful guy called KKBD who simply hated newbs. He would scold you and call you stupid and stuff. The worst part? He had a mic.

Smurf to avoid complaints about clan stacking? Maybe that's a valid complaint. It's not very helpful on either side to just have a complete beatdown.

Considering most NS games are won depending on which side has the most skilled players, I'd say no clan stacking is a very good rule if you want a decent game.
