Sheena, does this model have bones? I don't know how powerful your computer is, but I can imagine that a full bone structure in such a model will grind it nearly to a halt...

i dont think i will have troubles with that.. hehehe.the power of SGI is with me.
a sgi octane 2 with octane 1 plastic covers (stealth powah!!!) it got 8 gigs of ram and dual risc Mips 64-bit R14000A prozessors with 600Mhz and 2 Mb level 2 cache...

please NO!!! *cries*
I dont knowplease NO!!! *cries*
I dont know how to describe it the right way... sheena the 3d prog creates polygons you are manipulating? or curves where you create a surface from?

Im working with a system that only draws polygons for 3d views but all the geometry is calculated as part of an "real" object, ergo volume. so when you create a circle it is 100% round for the system but depending on the resolution it gets displayed in different ways. so if you export it in a special format, you can then choose the detail of a model by adjusting your resolution. so it is possible to create different stages of detail with no additional work. but I guess that cant be done with your equipment, right
*sighs* so do we really have to wait till another playable female marine model comes out? that would take ages... thats really cruel sheena

guys being a hobbyist modeler myself (NOTHING LIKE SHEENA) i realize that sheena would have to cut back her polygon count by about 99.5% for this to be a playable character LOL sheena says it has 180.000 polygons and a half life model can maybe have..... what 1200? so she would have to cut 178,800 polygons, basicaly impossible. the model would look like a the male marins just with a larger chest plate.

Oh, I completely understand about the polycount, Sheena- and I doubt the software exists that could easily optimize it to game-level, not leaving it intact to any degree that would take less time to fix than doing a from-scratch version...
Perhaps I used the wrong term, but what I thought orthographic meant was front, back, and side views...
The model doesn't have to be "usable" to be a work of art... which is exactly what your work is...

For those who don't get it, HL2 is incredible- and every model on a level at high detail combined wouldn't equal the polycount on this one model. This is CGI movie-level stuff here, not gaming... HL2 models are only in the 4-5k poly range...

your critics are still aimed at her boobs..i think ive clearly claimed no boob critics here please. ive even done a very close up of her lower body section.. on the grey armor pictures it isnt clearly to see

Hmm... how to describe

I mean like for me I see the male marine's armor can invision two things:

- The overlapping front armor
- Underneath it would be something tigher fitting

For nancy I would imagine the armor to extend from the upper plate, as illistrated, and underneath it would something lose fitting

Brimstone... I meant no disrespect. I like what sheena yanai is doing for different reasons than that. I just like female fighters. You misunderstand me. I just thought Krad's 14 year old commentary was amusing. Not laugh out loud amusing but the kind where it puts a grin on your face and makes you roll your eyes. You tremendously underestimate the respect I have for women. I'd be happy to discuss this further with you if you so desire.

Sheena Yanai I'm sorry if that was disruptive, please ignore and continue with your work.

You could simply doom 3-ify it, aka reduce the polies and then use the high res original to turn into bump maps
[edit:] that was in reference to the last post on page 8 >_>

oh this is MOST CERTAINLY a work of art, i think you have an AMAZING talent sheena i mean you could send in a resume to Pixar with that, its just perfect. i wasnt trying to say this wasnt a work of art.
but id like it if you could try amking a Source worthy nancy, and rename her please nancy does not fit her at all, give her a japanese name, or something...

no I think it's a good support seperate to the commander! I managed it in my novel that I do have a medic in my squad which give the marines Nano injections or helps the nanites to gerenerate cells of the body with injections or other stuff like laser sticks (like it's in Star Trek)

hmm please change the color it has to be more like a "green" than a dark grey. Also the "shirt" and the "pants" are supposed to be in a blue color.

and more more crit is that her pads don't really look like pads (those on the ellbows). the look like an uncomfortable, great bracelet =)

use the sketch on ns.org to compare your's with the original

ive always asked myself where this damn flashlight is.... hmmm... its not on the gun..its not handheld.... hmm... maybe its on the helmet
the tsa logo on the helmet is semitransparent, and embedded in it is a thin layer of high advanved electro luminescent plastic ...maybe a advanced version of e-led film...
