Opening Files In Milkshape

I made a model in Maya and converted it to a .mdl file. I tried opening Milkshape, file, import, and all 3 types of mdl files, but when I try to import nothing happens. I tried opening the models in the NS model folder to the same effect. Do I have to use another file type?

decompile it and import the .smd rather than the compiled model.

Thanks. Milkshape crashed when I tried to decompile though.

These are the Compilers/Decompilers I use, and I added a simple icon you can use for your .qcs so that you can spot it easier for compiling <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

How do I use the compiler/decompiler?

You can edit the .mdl and .qc filetype via the "Folder attributes" (don't know precise name in english, might be folder options) and add a new action called Decompile respective Compile and put in the Decompiler respective Compiler .exes as the used program.

It seems that this type of .mdl is different from the kind of .mdl that Milkshape uses.

"Decompile Normal HL MDL File" ?

And those tools I attached work for HL .mdls, for sure.

Well it says 'mdl file' when I look at its properties. I'll try again. Can you explain exactly how to set up the decompile? The last one was a little too technical for me, so maybe I did something wrong.

Edit: Opened in HLMV. There was an error. This converter that I got must not convert right. Does Half Life have any official Maya plugins?

    Yes.... moo to you too.

It seems that Maya PLE doesn't allow plugins other than UT2004's. I'll need to get some money. Sorry for wasting your time.
