I just spent the last eight hours playing eight-player Halo 2.

and let me tell you - it was the time of my life. Buy this for the multiplayer, at least.

Thats what everyone said about Halo 1- still to this day, I've only played a few matches- but when you can go the entire game except the final level(comon...) without dying on Legendary, I'm pretty sure I can get most of my buddies ;D

So I'll probably do the same with Halo 2. One thing I like about Halo compared to HL: The weapons. They feel the way their supposed to(except the plasma pistol, again). SMG? VERY effective closerange, practically a hindering experience when farther than 15 feet. Shotgun? Don't get me started on my "How the shotgun will always beat any other gun in the history or future of man kind" thing. I just love it, even if it was underpowered(which it seems so in Halo2 at first, but once you get the hang of it, becomes quite effective). Battle Rifle? Oh my God, my pants just cought on fire. I love that gun. <3

Though, I find after waiting a bit, I am enjoying the story more now than before- mostly because I've been following ilovebees.com like a ****, but who knows. I just hope Half-Life 2's weapons will feel like their supposed to. I wanna see my shotgun put some holes and fling my little buddy back. I want to see a grenade make that mofo DIE. And assault/smg? It better pack a punch

On one hand, I can pay 100 bucks for HALO 2 and the Live subscription...

On the other, I can be content with HALO 1, Half-Life 2, and play Halo 2 at LAN parties for free....

    No brainer.

Well, it comes with a 2 month trial of Live, so you don't have to shell out the extra money just yet.

hehe my friend had the nerve to come over to me while I was playing NS and ask me if I wanted to go and play halo 2.

I told him to get the hell out of my house lol.

(We always have big debates on which will be more fun Halo2 or HL2. Hes never played HL1 He got 15 min into it and said it was too hard. )

I know people like that; they play 5 minutes into Half Life (before the resonance cascade occurs), and quite because they say it was boring and you didn't do anything but walk around.

    Idiots.

Yes, thats exactly what happened at my school today.

I'm the token geek, so everyone asks me if I played Halo 2. I don't have a XBox so of course I haven't.

Also, thats all I ever heard anyone talking about at school. I sware this one kid I know must have said Halo 2 is awsome at least 50 times. Anyway, I can't wait till all these people realize that Halo 2 was over hyped and that they paid 50$ for a game they already have.

I'll revise this post after I've actually payed the game, but this is my knee jerk reaction.

    LOL!

I went around telling everyone that Halo 2 was waiting on my desk at home. And everyone asked me "Did you go at midnight?" and I was like: "No, if I got it at midnight I wouldn't be here right now".

    Spoilars!!!

I just beat the level where you play as the Elite Arbiter. That was possibly the most kickass level I have ever played. Then you drop pod onto Halo-2, I was like DIE **** unggoy and key-gar.

The battle rifle is pance. I think I love it. But I dunno - I feel that the shotgun has taken a dive (it's no longer the blastmaster-fragtastic handcannon that it was). I actually find the dual pistols to be very effective, myself - and who doesn't want to add a little John Woo to Halo?

but you can beat Halo without getting killed even once on LEGENDARY? That's a hefty claim

After (almost) completing Halo 2.. i can say I enjoyed it. It was fun, definitely something to play again once I get the hang on the control pad/it comes out on pc :>
Multiplayer is enormous fun, specially with the sword and dual weilding.. Duel needlers ftw!

I bought Halo 2 just for the single player and it's my favorite story in any game, ever. Also, it happens to be my favorite game in general.

Yes, I happen to not care if no one on this forum respects me ever again.

    Oh COMON.

The story, as Penny Arcade said, was just barely starting to get good...then it ended. I hope Bungie freaking kills themselves, the bastards- worst ending ever. I didn't really realize just how bad most of the game was till then- sure, the first half was total, utter crap on any mode but Heroic(in which, was okay-ish total utter crap). Then we get the arbiter, and get treated to a "Hi, my name is Raiden, I look like a Chic" experience that Bungie should've learned better from Kojima's mistake. I don't GIVE a rats bumside about the arbiter- hell, I should've killed him in the first game- I wanna be the badass that is Master Chief.

Then, they DARE end the game with that bastage. Hell, Master Chief doesn't even say anything cool at the end other than the mildly entertaining "I'm going to Finish this Fight"- for God's sake man, get slapped.

I'm really, REALLY dissappointed by Halo 2. Like Gabe, I was REALLY(you can even check it if the thread still exists) into the entire story with ilovebees.com- but this just.....DAMNIT.

...I guess the MPs okay, but I don't have a internet hookup in my room, so it won't be happening.

Oh, and comment to the above: Never, EVER say again it was better than Halo- Halo was new, unique, had a rather good story, and graphics that for the time were revolutionary(Hell, their STILL good), and its atmosphere was unheard of for the time(it FELT like war).

Also, it HAS to be on XBox 2. Microsoft OWNS Bungie, remember?

OK Heres Venmoch quick Halo 2 summery.

"Its like Halo, but with all those bits that made you think OMG COOL! except even cooler and better"

Although I'm still annoyed at the lack of any damage whatsoever to Earth.

After looking at the E3 stuff I was convinced this was going to be a full on fight for every last piece of earth dust. Turns out I'm wrong and the invasion changed from "OMG EARTH R TEH DOOMED!!!" to "OMG EARTH R TEH MINORLY INCONVENIENCED!"

I want a world at a full on Sci-Fi war. I want humankind to be loosing! I want humankind to be fighting their lives for that mound, or that street or that whatever. Not seemingly abandoned in some very nice African village with no-one.

    Thats not what I wanted!

Last Note: Sarge Johnson kicks butt.

I liked the story (up until the worst ending ever EVER), but at first it was real confusing because I couldn't hear half of the ingame dialogue due to the incredibly quiet speech volume when compared to the rest of the effects/music/whatever. Same problem as in Halo, I wonder why they didn't fix this.

And yes, Sarge is definitely one of the most badass characters ever.

I'm on that level where you are hunting the Prophet, after the underwater box ride (WTH was powering it? Nanites?). Fscking drones and elites and hunters and legendary without a friend >_> <_<

I'm really enjoying the game and storyline so far, I wonder what happens in the end.

ALSO! Am i the only person on Basis who actaully likes the Arbiter? He is just as badass as Master Chief.

I thought it added virtually nothing to be honest. The story got a little bit more interesting with the brutes, but it was still fairly shallow and uninteresting. Something more than a new player model would have been nice as well. I never at one point stopped to think " wow, i'm not actually Master Chief" because both charactors are pretty much the same.

Definately. Not to mention, it doesn't keep with the story of the Arbiters: That armor was made thousands of years ago. THeir shield tech is barely 300 years old. How'd the Arbiter get shields?

I'd make you play the health game as arbiter, but have you move a lot faster, and more maneuverable.

They could explain the massive amount of health by the fact that when Elites' shields are down, they STILL have a ungodly amount of health. MC doesn't- so Elites > MC
