Parasight

More than Just a marker.
on pubs, people just dont take advatage of parasight enough.

Not only does parasight give everyone on your team wall hax to that person. but.
It strips them of valuable armor

K so now your thinking. para only does 10 damage, how does this realy help?

first. if you bite a lvl 1 armor marine twice, he is left with 20 health. (if I remember correctly)

2 parasight from long range negates armor1 as long as he doesn't get a medpack.

a skulk with full energy can at least wip out 3 good shots on a mrine with para. thats 30 damage!! Long range accurate weapon. sometimes ill parasight a marine 10 times just to make em hesitate from rushing the spot im trying to keep him out of.

Also try to think of parasight as a becon for other aliens. ive noticed parasighted players dont last long as all the pubies will begin lookin to kill him.

and since you stripped him of some armor. it will be an easier kill!

any other input on how to use parasight creativly, would be apreasiated

Each level of Armor Upgrade effectively gives a Marine an extra 40 health. At Level 2 Armor, using Parasite to wear down the Marine becomes slightly impractical.

edit: I do find it pretty fun to Parasite a lone Marine building an RT. It gets them all worked up.

I like to parasite when i apparoach rine. Also if you know your not gonna take out that rine parasite him if you have time.

and yes parasite in full team use is better than mt and it comes usable at first second. You should also parasite all buildings you see

Para is good but if you can kill something, kill it. Paraing an RT is a tad pointless if you've the time to actually bite it to death. Other than that, fair enough.

Its a very handy way of tagging marines, and the noise of para will stop most marine advances and have them checking the vents. Paraing doors, lifts, etc, is also a fun way of distracting marines.

Also rushing Marine start and parasighting everything along the way is nice too. specialy if you can find a good hiding spot near, or in MS and just parasight everything that leaves from that direction.

Parasite is so invaluable but so rarely used. As you move at a marine, parasite him then switch to bite. If you die, the marine is still sighted (Yes you can even para people while bhopping or leaping). Same for RTs, para it from as far away as you can when you're moving to it, that way if you die before killing it it's still parasited, yet you still have close to max adren to kill it yourself. Don't para entire bases and the like, just para a structure or two so everyone knows something is there.

Also, a marine with lvl1 armor bitten twice will have 40 health. Don't try to para kill things purposely unless it's the last marine, just bite and get it over with. I do agree that para is unique in that it can be used to strip armor a good bit in leiu of a lerk, but don't make a super habit out of it.

Parasite is underrated greatly. Even discounting the armor it takes, it still lets you kill marines much easier.

I try to parisight a marine(or group) as you rush them, just as insurance. unless its clear that one skulk wont be able to do much agianst a group of marines (for example if there are 5-6) of them, Ill parisight, other wise it puts them on edge and ruins a good ambush.

parasite is the whole idea behind the teamwork that the developers of ns are trying to promote for aliens.

i remember a game in NS origins where i was on the rine team and we were pwnzing hardcore.
Lvl 3/3 and shotties for all, so i'm pretty much not fearing anything smaller thana fade at this point.
AS i walk out of ms i get wached 3 times with parasites. I can't kill the damn skulk cus hes in a vent so i ignore him and run off to take double.
The skulk fallowed me through the vent system and parasited me everychance he had. By the time i got a gl to clear him out of the vent i was down to around 50 hp and no armour.
    It was funny

all it takes is 2 good parasiters to parasite 3/4 of the marine team
  • c4tc4t Join Date: 2003-09-06 Member: 20619Members
if the marine is down a corridor and i can see him, he is getting parasited. parasite is so great for ambushing. go ahead and para, then walk around to an ambush point he wouldnt expect.

i onli parasite when i m sure that i cannot kill the guy. otherwise, just rush em and bite.

    My point is simple.
if you are out range to bite, para. It does dmg, it puts em up the map, and you can NOT attack with bite. So why not bother to para?

Rush and bite is the fastest way for a skulk to die. That's a bad idea.

You shouldn't para if you need the energy for something else (leap), or the enemy doesn't know you're around yet.

A parasite on a marine is useful in any case. Even sneaking 2 in is worth while especially on a pub.

Sure, they'll get a medpack but we see don't see welding each other in pubs much.

You may not kill them, but their armours spent.

Sorry to say this but the whole idea about siting a marine to negate armor is just.....not a good idea. Just get out there and bite his arse.
  • j3stj3st Join Date: 2004-06-28 Member: 29602Members
well there ARE times when the marine just seems 8649 miles away so para-ing him a few more times would not hurt, whereas getting out there to "bite his arse" will just hurt a bit more (death) in a lot of circumstances.

also para-ing marines usually makes the marine irritated and try to come and get u, which is exactly what u want.

There are a few ways that para is bad too though.

If you para one or two people in a group, those para'd people will be used as bait, so the other rines will have a good chance of ambushing you.

If you para a rine when he doesn't know you are there, now that rine is more alert.

Yeah, having them on the map does help a lot, but I usually will just go for the kill by being sneaky.

    Exactly.

It's better to stalk a marine with sound than having him on your hud yet he will be extra cautious since he knows someone is following him.

While what nonok said is true in certain circumstances, in many cases all you want (can) do is to parasite them. Sometimes a parasited marine is more valuable than a dead one (true if the marine is near a phasegate which you cant take down or in/near marine base).

sometimes i like being para-ed. u know how parasight's refresh rate is like..around 2/3 of a second? so whenever i am about to enter a room with a high ceiling or around a corner, i just go to the edge (without really going all the way) and then start running back.
with the time delay of parasight, the kharaa would think i am just about to get around the corner so it will leap out just to see me a few yards back, where i safely riddle it with holes with my teamates

You should only para at certain times, for example, ambushing him from a ledge, you shouldn't parasite him, because then he'll know your there. However, if you are a far ways away, you should para him, then set up an ambush. Since you know where he is, you can jump down at just the right time and bite his arse.
