Pop-ups Are Interrupting My Play

why are they not illegal
sometimes when i'm playing NS my hard disk light flashes and my hard disk thrashes for a few seconds making the game slow down to like less than 1 frame per second and when i quit the game then internet explorer opens by itself for no reason. these mad loading sessions seem to happen several times per match although they result in nothing popping-up. it's not as bad as before where the game would be forced to minimize and some pop-up would open up on the desktop. it would stop me playing for several minutes coz they seem to take ages to load. why is this not illegal? it's so much more annoying than spam email. why don't they ban it? governments are so stupid. i have Mcafee anti-virus and Adaware but i can't seem to get rid of these damn things completely. does this happen to other people here?

stop visiting porn sites? that's like saying "throw your computer out the window and you won't see pop-ups anymore" or "jab a fork in your eyes and twirl a few times and you won't see pop-ups anymore"

and yah, i disabled that messenger thing ages ago coz someone in the game told me but it didn't help at all.

I'll second this one. IE is a piece of garbage, FF is all I ever use now.

Opera is supposed to be good too... but i'm not a fan of ad-crippled programs, and I don't want to pay for one browser when I can get another thats just as good for free.

But thats just me. Either way, ditch IE people!

Or you can get an OS not susceptible to spyware:
    http://www.debian.org
    http://www.freebsd.org
    http://www.apple.com

Also there are currently 2 bills working their way through congress in an effort to criminalize spyware:
    http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:h.r.02929:

Oh and Firefox > IE. Though it is still a beta product, I've encountered very few bugs and I am looking forward to the 1.0 milestone with much anticipation.

Adware has gotten very horrible as of late. Watch out what "adware/spyware" removal software you download. some will actually make the problem worse. Also, go into your Add/Remove programs in control panel. Uninstall anything like "search" or "toolbar" (note for those naysayers, I'm making it something that cannot be mistaken or hurt anything, trying to keep it simple). There are others like "timesynch" and "desk helper" or "clear search" ect ect. Remove those also, some adware removal software dont remove these sometimes just due to legal/liable issues.

    http://www.lavasoftusa.com

    Ad-Aware Personal

Also agree use another browser, not going into arguments.

    Either:
    http://www.mozilla.org

    Download Mozilla, or FireFox.

    http://www.opera.com

    Opera.

It's called spybot and it works much better, although occasionally ad-adware finds one or two more things that need to be removed that spybot misses, but spybot finds like 10 more that ad-aware would never catch, so...

damn spybot is really annoying. i just tried it like you guys suggested and it finds some crap that it can't remove coz it's in use or something so it says it will do it next boot-up but even then it can't remove them. what the hell is up with that?

Suggests they're in use. Bootup in safemode then do it.
    OR
start, run, "msconfig" (without the quotes.)
Select "diagnostic startup". Should remove all the nasties from startup lists temporarily.

i'm gonna assume the rest are bugs too then. i couldn't get rid of them in safe mode either. i think maybe it can't remove them coz i butchered them somehow with all my tinkering previously. dammit i hate all this nonsense. if i ever met the people that make pop-ups i swear i'll probably spank their faces into the floor.
