You are going archer, so as a nublar, you have very few skill points put into strength, so your attack is weak, at least until you get your job. I managed to clear that entire bottom area by myself with my remake character. After I got strength to 35. (Which I did as early as possible to level faster.)
On the plus side, though... I now get to fiercely brandish not just any mop, but a dirty mop. A mop that is apparently so dirty that it's filth boosts attacking powers to a level that dwarfs those of my previous two-handed morningstar, fork duct-taped to a stick, and spear. (Listed in order of descending power)

chrono, you just pay the guy in the shed-like building when you come with the ship, it costs like 100-200, which should be affordable. - note it'll go up to 1000 when you get a job.

lol, I'm only level 14 but I've been looking up what the higher jobs are like and it's a tough choice... the bandits get much faster in both attack and movement plus there's steal and stuff while clerics do crazy stuff and on the higher jobs like priest and bishop they get insane spells like summoning dragons and making people gain 150% xp o.O
I like being fast but I like helping and the choice is making me nutty lol.
