Did You Vote Yet?

I did! Well, actually I voted on Monday.

Voted:

1) Kerry / Edwards (D) for president.

2) Ken Salazar (D) for Colorado senate. Pete Coors ® is a legendary violator of EPA pollution guidelines. This is Colorado, unspoiled wilderness is what we're known for.

3) Kinsey (Green Party) for House seat - Musgrave (D) strongly supported the anti-homosexual marriage bill, and in fact, wrote part of it. Die, you bigoted ****.

3) YES on Colorado Amendment 36 - stated that a percentage of Colorado's electoral vote will go towards a proportional candidate. If Colorado is 5 votes (I don't remember what it's worth), and the vote is 49%/51%, then 3 votes go to the 51%, and 2 votes to the 49%.

4) YES on Colorado Amendment... 35 I believe - Basically it introduces a new tax on cigarettes.

5) NO on a vote to raise taxes to pay for the salaries of hiring two new people to an electoral board. Or something. I forget.

6) Some other trivial stuff like if some judges I don't know should keep their seats.

Therefore, I can now ignore all this stupid banter about presidents since you cannot change my mind <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I'm not vointg for president this time around. It doesn't matter anyway since my state will almost certainly give all its votes to kerry anyway.

Just remember that because of overcrowding at the polls in 2000 they decided to spread it out. Just like EEK voted early. They decided to spread it out and divide up the voting. Don't forget to vote. Democrats should head to the polls on Wednesday November 3rd. And Republicans should head to the polls on Tuesday November 2nd. This should not only avoid crowding but possible conflicts between these two groups.

It should be nice without all the long lines they had last time round.

Yahoo. Goodbye voting anonymously. Now anybody can find out who you're voting for by simply taking note of which day you're going to vote. And now democrats can complain that their opponents get to vote first.

And when big brother wants to come down and start harassing only dems/repubs he'll have them nicely parceled into seperate groups on seperate days already. How convenient! I for one welcome our new Orwellian overlords. (now just watch out for the news story about how a lot of voting machines failed to work correctly only on one day)

Anyhow I do not believe there is early voting going on in Pennsylvania. I'll just wait and go in on election day, wait through the line and cast vote.

Forlon, one word does not a discussion post make...

I wanted to vote absentee, but I'm going to wait and go permanent absentee next time around.

hmm, some of the propositions I'm going to vote for...

kerry [he's not bush, not to mention we share similar views on abortion, illegal imigrants, taxing, not to mention his VP is more likeable then dubyas]
senate, I'm probably going for Boxer
1a: closes loophole to prevent state from raiding local gov coffers [yes]
68: "fair share" indians give up 25% of gambling money or slot machines become legal in card rooms and race tracks [no]
umm there are a bunch of other propositions that I will have to read up on in my vote information booklet before I can take a firm stance

Because Colorado is known for its scenery and I think having an environmentalist leading the state is a GOOD thing.

Making voting convenient (by not requiring an excuse to absentee) is a good way to increase turnout. And there is no greater privacy issue with it than there is with going to the polls on the day of. Any scam you can pull one way can be done the other.

I need to look at the most recent polls for my state. If it's pretty certain Bush will win (which seems likely), then I'll vote for Nader. If it's battleground, or an incredibly doubtful blue, then it's going to Kerry. (NC btw)

Well in my town some kid from my high school organized a "Bush Rally" near the local 7-Eleven. Needless to say that the 16 of them got shooed off by the police for "disturbing the peace"....... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

You know, that whole thing got rather tasteless pretty quick. The college republicans here actually had a few people out recently trying to drum up support for Nader (including collecting signatures to get him on the Wisconsin ballot or some such. As if that's not a felony.)

Oh, and I voted my absentee ballot for Michigan a few weeks ago for Kerry. I'm actually regretting it and I wish I had voted here in Wisconsin because it's a far closer race. If Bush wins here I think I'll have my friends beat the living snot out of me so it doesn't happen again.

I've been hearing a lot of discontent (mildly in this thread, a lot on the others) with the 2 candidates that we get to choose from. This partly has to do with the ignorance of our political system. Hint, if you don’t like the candidates, pick the party you generally side with the most and participate in the primary election/caucuses, you have 9 choices.

If you lean left, you had a choice between anti-war pro government (close to socalist) Kucinich/Dean to moderate lefties Kerry/Lieberman.

yes, i voted, and just for your information, *what/who/how* you voted is suposed to be private information...

hence the secret booths and the mail-in ballots...

Can we create a "no replies" poll thread for fun?

No one can see what you voted, not even the admin. (I use invision powerboard is how I know this) But it's be interesting to see what the NS population votes as, and by be no-replies would mean there would be no pressure to post or spam that could get flame-like.

Anyone for this idea? I think is sounds great without any risks or negatives that I can see.

Though americans form the bulk of the ns.org community , people from other countries can and will vote , making the poll useless. Kerry would win by a large majority obviously.

No not obviously. And second I don't understand you point. It's not like this is an official election vote of only the pepole of the USA, but rather one that is for the people of the NS.

Maybe I'm not understanding you point but you came off as sounding as just arguing for arguements sake and a bit prejudiced.
  • StakhanovStakhanov Join Date: 2003-03-12 Member: 14448Members
Yes Kerry would obviously win here. Don't you remember that the world's votes are overwhelmingly against Bush ? There's the <a href='http://www.betavote.com/' target='_blank'>betavote</a> site where 11% of the surfer's votes are for Bush , and by searching for similar polls in open , international online communities you'll see that Kerry always wins by a large margin.

My point was that you can't make a "US only" poll here , but why not make one anyway. The question is , will there be more support for Kerry than the Unchained Chambers <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Um... You don't need to log in to vote there (I can go around to every computer with a unique IP down on campus and rack up several hundred votes all for one person)

Our forum <i>is</i> much more reliable and accurate. (maybe even more accurate than the actual election unfortunately)

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->but why not make one anyway.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Exactly.

You guys who are just arguing for arguement's sake, why do you care?
