    Can't. Contract.
    But you get to play as soon as its delivered instead of after you go to the store and come home after fending off the 1000 hungry geeks with no money outside the store.

    What's wrong with converting stuff? If I had to recreate a NS map from scratch up to HL2 level of detail I WOULD PROBABLY DIE IN THE PROCESS.

    I am sure you could be consoled by being able to put in FIFTY revolving doors which all exploade whan u blo em up!!111

    Yes. Ahem.

    Not too sure what the excitement is all about tbh; We all knew HL2 was going to be comming out sometime this Autumn/Winter anyway. Knowing an exact date... meh.

    I've bought 2 copies already. Retail, then Silver as I could not wait for a try at the engine, even if it's only CS:S
    (Retail will be b'day pressie for bro. Best of both worlds. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    Wonder if my Athlon 1800+ will burn, detonate, or melt?

    2 days after my birthday. Nice.

    Hopefully I'll be getting a computer upgrade on my birthday, which will make playing the game that much better (I don't even think it'll run on my current junk...I can't even run things in full screen if it isn't practically fresh from a reboot :s)

    Guys.... I pleased to say we've come the the end of a very long battle. However, I would like to use this as an opportunity to extend our sympathies to those poor people who have been waiting 6 years for Team Fortress 2 - which was apparently meant to have been released back in 1998. Although HL2 has been slow - we knew they'd get there in the end........

    But i must admit i do not trust this new release date....

    I.E. When I first bought HL back in the day... TF2 was in the SIERRA VIVENDI catalogue as being out in "autumn". NOTE THEY DID NOT SPECIFY THEY YEAR.

    Equally, although HL2 might well be released on November 16th - we still do not know whether it will be within this decade.......

    We can only hope though <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I will no longer need contact from the human world when I obtain this game. If I have to stab my way through the huge crowd of people there will be Nov.16th at Gamestop, you damn well better believe I will do it.

    Of course I have to eat and sleep, as well as shower too <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    So, how much will I actually have to download on the day it comes out? I've bought the game over Steam and have preloaded all 6 preloads. How much will myself and 6 million others have to hammer the Valve servers?
  • UKchaosUKchaos Join Date: 2002-08-10 Member: 1132Members
    I dont think you download anything perse, steam just authenticates you and the files are unlocked.
  • eedioteediot Join Date: 2003-02-24 Member: 13903Members
    Nah, he'd have to download a few small unlocking files at the very least. But i doubt the download would be anything big - that's the point of preloading, so the servers aren't hammered.

    The BBC?

    The BBC have never been game-bashers.

    In fact their news coverage is very nice....

    And they covered the great source theft of 2003.
