Gorges And Web

<div class="IPBDescription">too much of a good thing</div> Ok, sorry for the bit of a rant but this needs to be said.

I'm not sure where newbies get this idea that it's good to spread webs EVERYWHERE! I can't tell you how many times I've run through a map and all down the corridors are there since web strands right in the middle of every little alcove, and hall. This is a waste, and it's dumb for a few reasons.

1: There's only a certain amount of webbing you can have out at any one time.
I consider myself a fairly good gorge. I get defend things rather even when alone, and i have a great kill ration especially against heavies. Why? Because webb is the greatest weapon. The HMG has nothing on it. Dropping a couple webs down on a HA marine, and spitting him to death is easy , but it's really annoying to drop jsut one web and see "you team cannot have any more of these". Arg
Same thing goes for trying to set up turret traps.... I can't defend because some newbie dropped 101 webbs in some back alley that will never get touched.

2: What's the point of webbing hallways that aren't either A: high traffic, or B: reinforced with turrets? Why so maybe you might get lucky and run into someoen stuck in a web?

Webs can be truely devistating when propperly used. I've seen, and participated in a the slaughter of 3-6 marines in HA with all sorts of bad guns. I can honestly say that I killed a group of 4 heavies, because of webs, and well thanks to luck none of them had welders (PS marines carry welders, especially if you can't hit a barn with your pistol). SO please, for the love of *explitive deleted* god, don't waste the precious resource that is webs.

uhhh the pistol is the only gun the marines have that is perfectly accurate

He means people who just suck at aiming...

Yeah ive had this happen. I remember when we were closing on the marines and I went to web their doors but the web allocation was spent up. Thing is though that sometimes its a good idea to put a web somewhere until your team builds past that point and then its not needed.

Probably the best rule to follow is not to be so liberal with the webbing. I saw this one guy who attempted to simulate a spider web with his webbing. While it was very pretty, it was not very efficient. So when I'm putting in webbing, I treat them like tripwires and try not to overlap them. I also zigzag them down the hallway so to cover a lot of space.

Yea, The pistol is a great weapon, I'm a huge fan of it! But because it's so accurate most people can't use it because it requires presicion, and with only 10 rounds to a clip, if you can't aim, it's useless.

Don't do that. Thing is, each strand of web means 6 seconds of inactivity and cutting the movement by a third, IIRC. So if you spread out the strands, they will hit one strand, stop and back away and have their weapon back in 6 seconds. Then they whip out their welder and clear your web.

However, if you put the three strands on top of each other, they will be completly immobilized for 18 seconds. Plenty time for those offensive chambers that were strategically placed to cover the web to kill even a HA marine. If you are there yourself, just give him some loving feeling with that spit of yours.

Also, unless they are using jetpacks, don't put the strands between the walls. Put them between points on the floor. That way, they are extra difficult to see.

If they are using jetpacks, then a tripple strand web between the walls, close to the roof will ensure they will stand still for a while (I don't think they fall down, even though they should, really..). They are always bouncing off the roof, and a jetpack is hard to control .. so they are quite likely to get ensnared.

How much damage does Healing spray do to marines? and is it a damage over time or just per hit.

Healing spray does 16 damage instantly to marines. I've persoanlly gotten a few healing spray kills. Only a few were intentional, the others were from running around healing some structures with marines nearby and getting a lucky kill.

i think i saw -16 every spray when I had the Sent of the Pray(sp?) sensor upgrade.. i think its AE damage too, seems pretty damn effective at killing light marines.

From what I've seen and expierenced you don't need much webbing to slow a marine down, besides they're only additive to 3. I think the best places to web are access areas to your hives that are defended by one or 2 o towers. That's how I've always done it. Webs can also be used in a semi-offensive manner, they'll effect a marine when you shot at them directly too, then switch to healing spray and deal them a humilitating death.

Placing the webbing flush next to the floor is damn annoying. It can't be seen in dark and barely even in light areas. I tend to zig zag it down a hall with it against the floor.

I often use it as an intimidation factor, just so they HAVE to pull out the weilder and take it out, course I see them do this and drop down (i turn into a lerk right after) and swipe there head off... Also a web trap that they can see and easily remove then keep walking into a WELL hidden trap gets them nearly every time.
