<div class="IPBDescription">First one be nice</div> Prepering in centuries the Kharaa have made their perfect counter to the humans invasion on their lands. In a massive organic pod the kharaa had placed multiple hives filled with gorges in egg, and thousands of gallons pure nano sludge. Enoughe resources for gorges to build up an entire colony wherever they land. And unfortunatly their target was earth. Their safe ticket to earth was inside the pod the kharaa had build 10 special sensory chambers all specilized on cloaking and working together, making the pod invisible for human eyes. Even thoughe machines could see cloaked objects with their scans they could not see organic objects. Even heat sensors were useless becuase of the cold in outer space. The hives and lifeforms inside the pod was not yet active. They went into hybernate sleep a long time ago to survive the extreme cold and the long journey towards earth.
The pod was not detected until it hit earths athmosphere were it got heat up and detecteble by both human eyes and machine scanners. A huge fireball that could be seen from half the surfaces of earth crashed in the amazon djungel.
The fear of trillians of people have become true. The Kharaa is on EARTH.
Deep in and well hidden in the amazonas djungel the gorges have built a enormous colony. Only after a few hours on earth they already had hundreds of skulks and lerks scouting, over 100 fades and the number is still rising and a unknown number of onis.

But they could not hide for long on earth the TSA spotted them with satelite by the enormous drain of nano reources in the djungel.
The largest evacuation in history happend that day.
Every one in south America was ordered to either evacuate or remain in large security bunkers. Thousands have been reported missing.

The TSA have to stop them, if any one knew anyithing about how to wipe the Kharaa out it would be them. Fighting off the Kharaa as far away from earth as possible. And now just to know that they are on earth would easily make the even most hardboiled field commander **** his pants. All TSA forces in the solar system was orderd back to earth. But this was not only a TSA operation the armys of earth will join in to wipe out the intruders.

The biggest problem is how to destroy them WITHOUT destroying the entire rainforest. Even with their new technologys they cannot produce enoughe air to keep earth alive without the rainforest. But time is short if they dont do anything soon the Kharaa will destroy the forest and everithing on earth.

The navy ships have been abandoned a long time ago because of their cost to keep em working and their voulnebility of being sunk easily with so many men to keep it going. But now they are once again to see the sunlight. Battlecruisers and Carriers were sent to the coasts of south america making sure that the Kharaa wont spread to the rest of the world via the water and they have artillery that can give supportive fire over the whole continent without destroying to much of the forest.

The first dropships with above human capabilities TSA men are in orbit waiting for orders to begin the mission, code named Operation Blood Rain

The armys of earth are moving in, the Kharaa are ready for them, ready to take their home away from them.

But who will win?

    Sounds pretty good so far...but I suggest more vivid descriptions and spell check.

    Cheesy isnt the word.. it almost sounds forced..

    Ive writen a few fan fics here, nothing as cool as Behemoth of course, but what i find to work, instead of trying to make it dramatic... concentrate on the details, make it as descriptive as possible, despite what you may think of it being boring... write about hte colors, emotions, feelings, dialogue, actions, till u put us to sleep... THEN once u have this long descriptive monologue... go back and add in spicy stuff <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    You'll find a lot of information on the regular www.natural-selection.com website talking about the history of the TSA and current functionings of the military and Earth politics. While it's not "innapropriate" to create your own background, UDoE in this case, it's probably not the best idea for a NS fan-fiction.

    As to the story, what you put down seemed like more of an outline with some, I'll have to agree with SDJASON here, cheesy catch lines. I would say drama in itself isn't bad, but if you want to make the situation sound grim and dangerous you can't just write sweeping generalities like "The aliens all came in from space violated all the defenses somehow and are annihilating earth." you have to come up with something more insidious.

    The spell check comment wasn't out of place either <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Updated tell me what you think. I'll tell you this I will never abandon this project (unless the feedback is really down the drain) it may take months until next chap but I will make it.

    P.S i couldn't squash all the spelling errors becuase i didn't have a dictionary (prolly wrong spelt to meh).

    So tell me what you think about it! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Please don't do a Kharaa invasion on Earth for many reasons:

    <b>1.</b> You idiots. lol Read the manual. Kharaa control "Adrian arm" of the galaxy. Therefore, the NS conflict is not located in the Milky Way. I hope this is the last time I need to repeat this. <a href='http://www.astronomycafe.net/qadir/agalaxy.html' target='_blank'>http://www.astronomycafe.net/qadir/agalaxy.html</a>

    The name of the arms are as follows:
    Norma Arm (3 kpc Arm)
    Scutum-Crux Arm (Centaurus Arm)
    Sagittarius Arm (Sagittarius-Carina)
    Orion Arm (Local Arm)
    Perseus Arm
    Cygnus Arm (Outer Arm)

    <b>2.</b> While it makes a good plot, it is the ultimate spoiler and sounds forced. The whole premise is that the TSA is making unofficial war on the Kharaa in attempt to reclaim their lost property and that whether the Kharaa adapts or the Frontiersmen adapt is where the evolutionary Natural-Selection process exists and hence the name of the mod. Who is better able to out evolve the other? Who is the predator and who is the prey? Who is going to be eliminated and who will adapt to survive. The Kharaa adapt quickly as a unique transgenic, accute species. The humans cannot evolve biologically but use their technology to evolve. This is the premise of the game. Not that the Kharaa are like the unstopable aliens who will invade the earth.

    The Aliens vs. Predator movie was one of the worst plots ever and had put all their money into hype advertising so they could get a return on their investment. IT did a major disservice to both the original Predator and Alien movies. Almost as bad as Aliens3 and Aliens4 did to the first two. If you want a plot feel. Watch the orginal SciFi-horror film Alien and it's good sequel Aliens. Aliens combined with StarCraft has the exact feel NS was designed with.

    `````````````````````````````````````````````
    Now I feel bad that I kinda gave you a royal tear-up so let me try to reform you. Your story is a good idea but need to rethink about how to go about it:
    Just listen to the descriptions of some of the NS inspirations:
    <!--QuoteBegin-Alien+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Alien)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->tagline "In space, no-one can hear you scream."
    (god that's such a good tagline <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
    The crew of the starship Nostromo are interrupted from their slubber in Cryo-sleep due to the ships computer picking up a distress call from an alien planet. The ship lands on the planet and discovers an alien ship and within the alien ship is a chamber of alien eggs. One of the crew gets infected by something and hell gets lose.
    Directed by Ridley Scott
    Alien Design by- H.R Giger
    Starring- Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton and Yaphet Kotto.
    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    <!--QuoteBegin-Aliens+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Aliens)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
    tagline: <i>this time it's war</i>
    In this action-packed sequel to Alien, Sigourney Weaver returns as Ripley, the only survivor from Mankind's first encounter with the monstrous Alien. Her account of the Alien and the fate of her crew are received with scepticism- until the mysterious disappearance of the colonists on LV-426 lead her to join a team of high-tech colonial marines sent in to investigate
    Written by- James Cameron
    Directed by- James Cameron
    Based on the Characters created by- Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett
    Starring- Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein and Carrie Henn <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    It should be noted that StarCraft came out long after these two movies. (I think Aliens came out in 1986 and StarCraft came out in 1998 if I remember correctly) So if you capture the feel of those two movies you can get some of that original inspiration for both SC and NS. Now while skulks won't be popping out of people's chests any time soon (though it would be sweet) the "fan fiction" unwritten rules dictates that one keeps in accurate to setting and in line with the rest of the plot.
    NOTE: This is why I try to make my maps as scary as possible. It's founded on SciFi horror.
    But then again I'm all about free speech so you can say what ever the hell you want and criticise me all you want as well. My goal and intent was to inform you and others and not to flame so if I come off sounding like a critical arse then so be it. I listed the things the made me want to strike hard on at the beginning of this post.
    suggested solution? (I didn't know this thread existed until today)
    Thank you all for taking the time to read this.
    That was a shocking post for me, but im glad you took your time to make it.
    Alright, i have red six days in sanjero and the other one i must have missed this with the other end of the galaxy. I could edit my story out so none els gets the same idea or should I let it be there just incase some 1 think it's a good read?
    I may do something els, just that I found (as i see it) some intresting ideas for a invasion on earth.
    One thing i dont understand, what do you mean it almost sounds "forced"?
    thank you for your posts.
    I'll go RTFM now
    It's just that, by making a final end story battle you are making the plot the rest of the community is trying to go along with invalid. If end the conflict you are making it difficult to enjoy the storyline when played.
    I'm having a hard time describing it exactly.
    It's kindof of like if some one made a story where TSA made some sort of anti-biotic which took out all of the Kharaa. Well.. ok. Then what's the premise of the plot for NS then?
    This isn't a history plot based game like DoD, is a futuristic "current" time thing.
    I do like the idea though. Usually all of the plots in NS are similar to the movie Aliens where the marines have come ti investigate and recover lost property and find a group of aliens who will kill and intruders to their home and have a strong will to survive and adapt to threats. Thus the marines are technically the offenders and the aliens are defending. I like the idea of the spread of the Kharaa because in general the marines are "winning" and it would be good to have the aliens gain some new territory of their own. Plus invasions are fun.
    I have posted over the plot for my map ns_invasion which occurs on a colony and will post my orgin of the Kharaa big ol' story and the many substories here in a few days.
    I would love to see some gentle fan fictions too. Or humourous things like what life would be like if you had a pet skulk. (kindfo like a dog)
    ooh idea: Skulkward Bound (the skulks and a gorge who find their way back home)
    lol <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    In my story it aint the end of all kharaa, it's sneak attack on the humans heart earth. It's not a total invasion with all kharaa involved rushing for earth. Or did i misunderstand you now <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ?
    Anyways, yes but I am such a freaking perfectionist I have a had time getting past the first stage when I create the general structure in the map. I am such a mean critic to myself, "Gah that hallway isn't complex enough! You are forggeting entropy! Damnit x5 you call that a map, where the awe shocking effect! No you are forgetting that vis will show that as too many polygons, fps drop = bad! Aaaah!" <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    So yes but my latest map ns_invasion I am having a very hard time getting the prelimary structure down.
    On topic:
    Yea. As I aforementioned my backstory for ns_invasion is obviously along the lines of planetside invasion by the Kharaa also, though it only happens in the galaxy where the Kharaa infestation is occurring.
    I was wondering two questions:<ul><li>If the Kharra controls the Adrian arm of the galaxy, how did the Kharra control the Behemoth which was kinda close to Earth? I might have missed a points; so correct if I am wrong. </li><li>For the story, are you sure the Kharra can survive the gravitional force and heat when they enter the atmosphere?</li></ul>The story sounds a little like the Vietnam War. The Unitied States ("TSA") couldn't use nuclear weapons because of politics (in this case, environmentists) and Vietnam (Kharra) will use guerrillic tactics against the Unitied States. I believe the Unitied States withdraws in the end; so do the humans withdrawn from Earth?
