Grens Or Cats?

<div class="IPBDescription">most useful thingy in NS....</div>
So what do you think wich one is _the_ most useful thing in ns.
CATPACKS OR GRENADES

Ill give my vote to catpacks because grannies are bad (not nightmarish) in circle-the-skulk-around-rt-game we all know....
Also catpacks uses arms lab time to research weps/armor

(i usually tech grannies immediatly when i get outpost armor(usually about 5mins))

I hate nades, I just toss them when I spawn.

4 res for a petit speed boost?
or 1 nearly useless Nade every respawn...

Sounds both very usefull for me!
But personally...i like the Nades better. (they are more fun to paly with if the game is allready lost...okok...running away from a crazy Onos and he doesnt manage to get you is also funny....does that work with catpacks?...have to try this one ^^)

btw: thx for creating this thread and stopping the "cat or nades first" discussion in the other thread about Nade Strategies

Catpacks are not very price-effective, but you can still win a game with them. Granades.. well... useless <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Catpacks by far, a marine with SG or HMG can easily destroy a fade if it is given a catpack, even an Onos if the marine has a HMG.

Anyone who doesn't say catpacks obviously hasn't seen 3 JP/SGs take down a hive in seconds. You all should know by now that having a decent pile of res doesn't guarantee a win, especially when they have good fades. Catpacks are the answer to this problem. Not to mention they give HA/HMG a huge boost.

I usually research catpacks after A1/W1 or A1/W2.

    catpacks of course.

the only use nades have is cleaning skulks by surprise

Nades are good early to mid-game for quickly getting rid of oc's , or for getting annoying spore spamming lerks out of vents

Can I put a write in vote for armor 1 ?

If I have to choose between grenades and cat packs I choose grenades because they give utility to my marines across the board. Micromanagement is my main weakness in ns (which is odd because im decent at it in rts games). So I feel like I get alot more benefit from upgrades that don't require me to run them.

    Catpacks.

If you've witnessed a 3-4 man shotgun rush on a hive with cats, you will know why.

I think the first thing the aliens will know about it is the absence of a hive sprite in the top right corner.

^^^^^^^ Shotgun/cat rush FTW. Incredibly handy when you have a stomp-happy onos or three roaming the map. ^^

Got the boost from there when it looked like offtopic starting.....

I`ve witnessed the power of cats few times wiht ninja-pg but still they take one min? from the arms and 20res. Even they are so powerful on 3sg`s at hive the biggest problem is to get them to sg-hive-range PLUS giving them catpack time they arent shooting and also if you get 3 sgs to hvie you propably have your whole team there anyway...

Cat's can definately be more useful, combine shotties and cats and some decent rines and you can take out a hive pretty quickly.
