Would You Sign Me?
Looking for some crit on my latest audio work. I'm trying to make it in a solo career... so sick of bands, be brutally honest, however, "I don't like that kind of music" isn't acceptable because it doesn't help me improve it any.

To answer a few questions before they're asked:

1. Yes I am playing the guitar part.
2. Yes Drums and Bass will be added in later. For now just judge what's there.

I liked the first few seconds of the rhythm but after it gets a bit louder it sounds a bit boring. Maybe vary a bit just to bring in some *oh this sounds different* feeling into it.

I have completely no experience in creating music, i can just tell you what i didn't like .

I think you sound alright. Is it anything new and exciting, no....not really. But I only listened to four days love.

Is it you singing? If so, you've got a good voice for rock. The guitar on the other hand doesn't even sound like its tuned in some places, and the execution seems pretty sloppy too. Keep workin on it though.

Love the vocals, guitar seems a bit flat… liven up that guitar and you’ve got a hit. Try to make the guitar as ‘excited’ as your voice gets… if that makes sense.

    October-Verse1
Like the guitar tune though you need another level of guitars or to kick it up a notch somewhere in there after the intro. This song also has potential to be signed after being changed around a bit.

    Four Days Love4
By far my favorite. Guitar and vocals blend together wonderfully. I’d like the whole song!

All in all you have a lot of talent. If you keep it up someone will sign you If nothing else I’d be with Thursday at one of your gigs! Nice voice, may have some rough edges but clearly some talent there It almost sounds like it could've come from what a radio sometimes play (haha, I'm being very specific)
I would, once you get some material up, release an album for free or something so a broader population will try it out and record label will be liek: omg, gib contract, plz

At does not rhyme with attack. Thank you. And upon further listening, this song makes no sense, and without bass you sound far too much like White Stripes for comfort.

It's pretty good, there's definately talent there. The guitar does need to liven up a bit in the first two, and the last song was pretty good. Keep it up man. Does your local radio station sometimes play local music? Call them up, submit them your best song, and people will hear it. See if that works.

I suppose some station does, I'm in Dallas, which is like the third largest radio market so I would imagine someone would play it, yeah.

I hate to be brutally honest, because I am not that kind of person, but you need alot more practice with your guitar, at least if that is the instrument you intend to play the majority of the time. Honestly your sound isn't terrible, but its nothing I counldn't reproduce with just a bit of time and practice, and I don't even own a guitar. You definately have a good enough voice for vocal parts, but you really need to keep working on your guitar skills, at least if you ever want to do much more than just harrasing us on the NS forums to tell you how good you are

The beat on the guitar is really repetive in the first two songs. I thought thats that the bass was for. If I were you I would just drop the guitar, and have the person that played Four Days Love play in your band. I think you should focus on your singing your voice sounds really good when your not focusing on playing the guitar. Also try to get a little better sound quality out of your next mics. That quality was really crappy.

I appreciate all the comments, I was looking for honesty. The mic I use was $30 at RadioShack, I'm saving for a good condenser studio mic by Audio Technica right now. I admit my skills at Guitar are lacking but I wasn't really focusing so much on the music as I was the vocals. I'm not going to play anything live, I want to get signed as a solo artist and just sing, have a band that does the music. If that makes sense.

In other words... Steven Tyler is IN A BAND; Aerosmith.

Justin Timberlake HAS A BAND, but is a solo artist.

Well thanks again for the Brutal Honesty!

Here's the main problem you are going to run into:

most artists that have bands for "backup" are pop artists. Your voice does not fit the pop genre, and record companies know that.

Now, if you are a great rock singer with excellent guitarist abilities, then you can form a band to support you. Something alot like Lenny Kravitz.

If you want to make it on your own, you need to learn how to either play one instrument exceptionally well, or simply learn how to play several instruments well enough to record and self produce yourself; pull a Trent Reznor of sorts.

You need to set yourself apart from what everyone else is doing in some way that will create a fan base.

Don't just emulate what you listen to or like musically. Take it a step beyond. Make it yours.

    And work on your guitar
