Bf1942 Mod: Galactic Conquest Trailers

The Star Wars mod for BF1942, <a href='http://www.galactic-conquest.net/index.php' target='_blank'>Galactic Conquest</a> just released some teaser vids on the upcoming .4 release. .4 will hopefully be out within the next week or two but you know developers...they always say "soon" or "when its done!" <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Sept 10 is the scheduled release date for RC4.

    Player Classes:
    -The game now features 5 main character classes, with 3 sub classes on certain maps.
    Listed below are the main new features of each class:

    -SCOUT:
    *Has the ability to "sprint" using the jump key. Press it rapidly several times
    and you'll lunge forward and great speed. A meter over your health icon shows how much
    stamina you have. Don't go to fast downhill, or you'll trip.
    *Has the "cammo" ability to lay down a cover. This cover will be destroyed
    quickly if the scout leaves a close range. He can see out, others can't see in. It's
    designed to blend somewhat with the polys and colors of map terrain. It will take
    a bit of skill to get a good placement though. It does not deflect shots one way or another.
    *Can call in artillery strikes.
    *Has Sniper rifle.
    *New Artwork for class distinction. (Backpacks, shaw).

    -TROOPER:
    *The backbone of any force. Has good range, and can fight up close.
    *Only class with grenades to damage players AND tanks.

    -ANTI-VEHICULAR:
    *Rockets do major damage to heavy armor.
    *Now carries Mines. Mines destroy tanks, heavy damage walkers.
    Mines do not effect aircraft or landspeeders very well.
    *New class art for Rebels (visor), new Backpack model for Imps.

    -MEDIC:
    *Medics heal at an amazing rate, 4 times the old pack, and for longer. Very effective when
    combined with healing troopers constantly in combat.
    *Medics armed with new weapons, disrupters. Slow firing fast round-travel guns. No zoom.
    *Medics equipped with toxic gas grenades that do slow damage over time, while player is in gas.
    *Medics equipped with "Lethal Injection." A slow reloading 1-shot-kill melee weapon.
    *New Artwork to make them apparent on the battlefield.

    -ENGINEER:
    *Engineers repair much faster than before, to make up for loss of medic pack.
    *Carry explosive packs.
    *Can build shield generators: Shield generators are impervious to all projectiles, and also
    block explosive damage the direction they face. Shields walls will extend through terrain and
    buildings, allowing you to place them up against objects. Shields can be passed through by
    infantry for a slight cost of damage. Shields last around 30 seconds, and cannot be picked
    back up. Vehicles can drive through shields, and the cost of damage, and destroying the shield.
    Shields block blasters both directions.
    *Engineers are only equipped with a pistol, but hey, get creative with the shield. Need more time
    to repair a turret on hoth? Shield it, and keep that distance walker stuck while you repair your craft.

    Something neat about the engies. Thier shields are shaped like a half dome, actually a little larger. This allows two engies to combine thier sheilds & make a complete dome.</b></span>

    SUB CLASSES:

    -HALF ENGINEER: On Several maps were explosion packs would be a bad idea (or shield) there is
    the half engineer class, which only has his pistol and a repair stick. On Tanaab for example,
    entry into the Lab is hard enough with it filled with exp packs and shields. The Empire will
    only have the hydrospanner for engineers (and a pistol) the cost of healing an objective.

    -HEAVYWEAPONS: He's still about. On Judicator as a pickup kit, and on the space maps you spawn as
    him rather than a sniper, for those who like heavy boarding operations. In addition, he’ll be a pickup kit
    on the infantry battle maps, for people who really miss the TL-21 and Tracker16.

    -IRON MAN: This is the judicator class that carries nothing but a pistol and knife. Come on, you know
    you love it.

    Man, the thing I love about GC is the ability to pilot capital ships. I remember once, I was on...that map where the only objective is to blow up the enemy ships. Forgot the name. Anyway, we had our captain, (DrunkenAirlinePilot,I think, if anyone knows the good man. If you see him, be sure to help him out), piloting us directly into the middle of the enemy's four capital ships, us in a Rebel commandship or whatever (not the blockade runner) All the turrets are manned, and the ship is our last spawn point; all the others were destroyed in a (RIDICULOUSLY STUPID!!!) attack made minutes earlier.
    Some of the others thought ol' airlinepilot was really drunk, that there was no way to survive. They saw us coming and started gunning for us. Almost immediately afterward, TIE fighters started pouring out of the undersides. That was the signal for us gunners with the little turrets. Almost all at once, the sound of lasers firing filled the vacuum through which sound cannot travel. It was awesome. Lasers fyling everywhere, the Millenium falcon and a group of Xwings bombing the carriers, us firing wildly, as the capitan tries to manuver the ship closer(so we can use the escape pods to board the ship)... Good times. We lost, but just barely. Eventually we had to pull out, after taking out two ships(one was attributed to friendly fire <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->) The other started chasing us, but the X Wing squadron managed to bomb the heck out of it, and they left. Finally, the last ship cornered us at the end of the map. They just sent wave after wave of TIEs after us. After about 3-4, the ship was severely damaged, the engineers couldn't do much to save it, so those brave men stayed on the ship, hydrospanning till the last minute, hoping to delay the ship's destruction so that maybe just one more man could make it to the pods. As it was, the two pods were deployed , chock full of men, and we flew towards the carrier, with the intent of boarding and commandeering the ship. It's not possible to do so, but we were going to get on, jack some TIEs, and give em hell. I had to log out then, and probably missed the greatest battle ever. Mind you, the level ends after the ships get blowed up, but it was severely cool.

    EDIT: MOTHER OF GOD THIS IS ONE LONG POST.

    EDIT2: If you do decide to get the mod, check out the Nvidia Server. I get the lowest ping on it, so I'm usually there when I play. It also has some of the best pilots, and alot of the people actually *GASP* work together. My name is Pvt. Chorbs.

    That was just.... so beautiful. Makes me long for Star Wars: Galaxies again, and now i'm going to re-download the mod.

    Yes BF is cool, yes BF is gonna roxorz... however not everyone is going to get it, besides GC is free. All that aside... I will be buying BF. =)

    Never really liked GC.. too slow paced and generally buggy for my tastes..
    The UT2k4 Troopers mod owns it. Down right. It doesn't even need vechicles (especially not buggy ones like GC has had for the most part) It has just plain fun Infantry combat.. Which is another thing GC isn't really known for..

    Infact, time to comprise a list of GCs pros and cons

    BF1942: 20 bucks.

    UT2k4: 50 bucks.

    For someone who has to buy all their own clothes, snacks, lunch, and THEN games with a measly $14/two weeks allowance, it's a great difference.
