Sentry Guns Are Wasted Resources

Would you like to know more?
Essentially, once you get 2 hives up, SGs stop being a problem, or even a threat. How?

Team up 3 guys. One should get a Lerk, lvl 3 Adrenaline and whatever other upgrades he can (I'ld go for Carapace personally). The other two should be Fades, and can get whatever they want for upgrades (Celerity and Carapace/Regen are my picks.)

A Lerk with lvl 3 Adrenaline is a walking Umbra cloud. Just as the old one is running out, you'll have enough energy to put up another one. You cannot fly, or attack in any other way but since you're flanked by two Fades, this shouldn't be a problem. Simply stand behind the Fades as you walk towards the SGs (we don't need to sit back and Acid Rocket them anymore), find their TF and kill it. Reduce the SGs to rubble at your leisure.

Easier said than done. Not too hard, but it's a bit harder than you make it out to be. It's a real ***** when they set up one near a damn hive and you can't even gestate.

I'd rather have this than no teamwork at all. At least it requires teamwork.

Umbra doesn't stop bullets completely. It's just added protection. I doubt it would allow two fades to simply stand there long enough to take out an entire group of turrets. It helps, but it isn't total protection.

No you just need to find and take out the turret factory. Then all the turrets cease to function.

The patch allows the turrets to be easily stopped _if_ the frontiersmen place the turret factory poorly. They can set it up so that the fades would have to go through the turrets to get to the factory fairly easily, as long as the commander is thinking ahead. That's where lerks come in handy: sniping from some vent up high to take out the factory. Though I'm mostly a Kharaa player, I'd suggest to frontiersmen that you're better off building a backup turret factory at important outposts.

If there are no vents handy, this would come in handy if your team is willing to work together.

You don't need to snipe or hide. Just walk up under the cover of Umbra. If he set a complete wall of sentries in your way, duck-jump or blink over them. The Fades will be hurt, but they've got way too many HP now to let what few bullets that get through the Umbra stop them.

And this is minimal teamwork. Just think, if you're on a 7 man team, you need 2 out of 6 people to think this is a good idea, and you can bust sentry nests like eggs. It wouldn't be so bad if you actually had to kill all the guns, but now that you only need to kill the TF (which has about triple the SG's health) it's laughably easy to do.

Add a gorge with healing spray = invincible.

I reckon the Gorge would be ripped apart by the SGs should it get too close to them.

Maybe hiding back at the corner for the Fade to retreat back and heal it.

Then again Gorges should be doing more important stuff like caping resource nodes and securing important joints.

As a skul you can generally always find cover from the turrets near the factory, once that is out of the picture, you can have your way with the base.

Turrets die so fast, I can eat one or two depening on my luck before I have to run back and heal, as a skul anyway.

I love seing sentry turrets, means they arent spending money on usefull upgrades.

or you could just go skulk, run towards the turret factory, walk as close as u can to it and u can sorta, get inside it.

if friendly fire is on, their turrets will shoot it, if FF is off, just stand on a side where there are no SGs and just kill it, then kill everything else. Many times i have taken out a base as a skulk or fade on my own just by killing the Turret factory and then killing everything else.

then u can go through their warp thing and do the same in their next base

Except, commanders are now realising how important the turret factory is so they are starting to make a circle of turrets around it.

    But it is still possible.

thats why u build 2 or 3 turrets, all to cover a side of the tfact, just to keep the pesky skulks, lerks and gorges away

Note that turrets lock onto the first thing that hits their "sight" and stick with it until that thing is either dead or leaves their "sight"...so a Fade that runs out to chop down turrets will take all the fire, and none to the Gorge behind healing it.

also note with lvl3 cloak, when u are cloaked the turrets stop shooting at you. so if u have regen u can jsut regen your health untile u can attack again.....

Lerk can do it on their own, just fly above the turrets so that they cant shoot you, then spike the Tfac at your leisure.
Dont forget that then other members of your team can attack safely as the turrets are trying to shoot at you so they can stand back and shoot perfectly safely.

Only thing better than a lerk is too lerks.

no actually the turret re-targets the thing closest to it, which would probably constitute the greatest threat.
